"I called you out on it because if you're going to strain yourself using 10 cent words to beat me about the head with, you need to SPELL THEM RIGHT, because it destroys the illusion you're trying to set up if you can't implement the terminology properly."

Well, it's hardly straining for me, but then again, for some reason, you like to pretend you know me. Apparently, you believe this adds weight to your arguments.

And let's see - one foreign word with one misspelled letter (the "i" is next to the "u") typed at 2:00 A.M., versus an absent punctuation point in a simple english word in the middle of the day.

Hmmmmm.

Oh, I forgot - one misspelled word ruined the "illusion" for you, and yet you don't think any of the changes in the films really affected the films at all. LOL.

"I can understand the feeling, especially since you spent over a thousand bucks SPECIFICALLY to make Laserdisc captures that will end up only being JUST as good as a couple other people's already, and including features already available (original scroll, isolated score) on other captures. I could see where this would frustrate you"

LOL. Once again, pretending to know what my transfer even looks and sounds like in order to make your case. I and many others on these forums will take Rikter's informed opinion over your playground taunts any day of the week. Such venom doesn't affect me at all anyways, because I'm doing exactly what I wanted to do. This is what makes me happy. At the very least, I'm learning valuable information about LDs and DVDs. Just make sure that you don't bother to download my version when it's done, okay?

Anyways, I'll stop cluttering up this thread, and even leave you guys with a little something to stare at in my wake (when in Rome...)

I call it: "Puss n' boobs". Get it?!?

It's not so much my ass, as it is my son's. He's having surgery next month. Gotta save some money.

"PS. Will you be using the orginal Fox opening logo and Lucasfilm Ltd. at the beginning of the movie too for your approximation of the 1977 version of Star Wars?"

Yes, straight off the laserdisc. It's the only way to watch Star Wars.

"It's analog, with 480 vertical pixels."

Correct. Technically, I have been capturing at 720X480, if that answers your question.

oh, and I'm glad someone else noticed this Sam_Lu kid is possibly the most uncreative, uneducated (about the movies, that is) and one-note poster here. To tell the truth, I'm betting about 9/10th's of this boards horrible supernegative fanboy image comes from that kids constant unfunny ranting.

Yeah, and your posts go a long way towards improving the overall tenor of these boards as well...

Oh, and you missed an apostrophe in "kid's".

"Will you first release a straight LD to DVD transfer of the "Faces" set?"

Yes. That is my top priority.

"Will this recreated opening crawl be part of the "Faces" transfer, or will it be part of a completely separate project? Personally, I am interested in a straight LD to DVD transfer of the "Faces" set containing no recreations or improvements."

Debateable. Until I get a DL-burner, it will probably be a separate disc (depending on how much material is added.) My intent is to make a DVD with both versions to choose from.

"But if it is possible to get a "Faces" transfer devoid of any modifications, that would be great."

Not at all. This is certainly going to happen.

"but will you be using them as a reference for quality?"

Nope. No interest in them - just the supplemental disc.

"Would it be possible to put the DE and Faces source video on top of eachother at 50% opacity to get technically double the resolution? Or am I confused?"

Ever hear the phrase "too much of a good thing"? Besides, Faces is CLV until the last disc, and the Def. Col. is CAV throughout. You'd never get the frames to line up throughout the film. It would be like really bad de-interlacing.

"MeBeJedi discusses a lot of this in the "LaserDisc vs Bootleg DVD" thread. Take a look at the aformentioned thread for more info."

Actually, the reason I PMed Jay about a new forum was to coalesce all the various threads and their information into one place (away from the "fanboy" threads ), so I have no problem using this thread to repeat information that is pertinent to my thread. I may even add this description to my FAQ, since it keeps coming up from time to time.

"Wouldn't it be easier to do it as 16:9 from the beginning? A dvd player would letterbox it on a 4:3 TV anyway."

It would be easier, but if you watch it on a 4X3 TV (like I have) then the transfer has gone through two stages of dropping resolution (blowing up to 16X9, then having every fourth line removed to fit a 4X3 screen.)

Since a majority of people will be watching these on 4X3 tvs or computer monitors, it makes more sense to make both versions. I'm not putting all this work into my transfer just to butcher it with this double-whammy.

BTW, just want to say how much I appreciate you responding in the appropriate thread.
