Preserving the...cringe...Star Wars Holiday Special (Released)
Time

My take is this, formed when I was considering such a project and thought I might someday have the time and funds to make it work.

I had similar qualms about the RiffTrax commentary.

For the other two I was going to put an attribution: who made it, and the web site logo.

And I'd probably do the same with RiffTrax with the moral imperative that if used (enjoyed? not sure) then a small donation / user's fee was due the crew at RiffTrax.

The track even indicates the likelihood that the track will propagate widely on the Internet. At least this would be a project that encouraged payment where due. Doesn't make it right, of course...

During yesterday's math tests I put on the board what I described as an unfair trivia question: give the name of the film and the context where one character says "That was just Wormie on another rampage".

Went home, pulled out MoveAlong's "The Lost Scenes", and found that the line's not there! It's in the script, and the comic adaptation and the novelization, but it can't be heard. When they head outside, though, Camie's statement is clear:

"I think Wormie's caught too much sun".

All of which turns into a comment on this thread because I'm *excited* to see your project, Jambe. And a question because rewatching "The Lost Scenes" reminded me of a comment from LONG ago. Do I remember rightly that you're working from repaired versions of the missing material?

.:. MoveAlong's - The Lost Scenes .:. Complete & Released
Time

Had a sad thought the other day. So many people do so much work and I remember the delight I had when I finally got to view this disc! (Then I discovered I'd downloaded the PAL version and had to go hunting for an NTSC. But that's immaterial.)

The other day, when I read the news of the Blu-ray set, one of my first thoughts was that MoveAlong's hard work might finally be replaced by something better. That, if the new set carries through on its promise, then we could finally have the best possible quality for these and other scenes.

I'm not holding my breath.

But it would be my fifth time buying each of the classic trilogy: VHS, Faces VHS, SE VHS, and the initial DVD release. And having this material would probably push me over the fence into buying it again.

Let me close by saying thank you.

Thank you, MoveAlong, for your remarkable work. Even if it is overshadowed, I'll keep a copy around and continue to be grateful.

I was sequestered in Korea and the news of the Blu-ray set took a while to get to me. But afterwards I started thinking about how wonderful it would be to have this project, and have it complete, before the next wave of anticipated changes.

Weird pondering I'm sure, but with Star Wars it's always chasing a moving target. And I am glad that Jambe is optimistic that he can bring it to a close well before it's overshadowed by the Next Big Release.

Congratulations, sir.

Truly said. I wish I could afford to help you out and right now am trying just to breathe. And am delighted for you that (what seems to be?) so much of your work is recoverable.

Thank you, Doctor M.

What was percolating through my head definitely DIDN'T make it onto the screen, and yours is a much-needed reply.

(I still dream of using DVDLab Pro to create the ultimate Star Wars Holiday Special disc. Looking less likely as years go by, but I continue to gather material. Are there any products that allow similar *control* over menuing, chapters, &c, but for a lower price?)

When the Beast takes Belle out of the dungeon, after she offers to take her father's place. OTV: "You want, you want to stay in the tower?" (iirc, I don't have the video readily accessible atm) It is technically a mixing error but it's the way I grew up with the movie.

That's an ERROR?

I've obviously been spending too much time with the OAR disc than the commercial DVD.

Maybe for the Blu-ray they'll allow it as a branching feature? (He asks facetiously.)
