ADigitalMan, I used your method and I was able to make ESB animorphic. Thanks for your step by step process.

That was fast! You must have a much better machine than mine (which is entirely probable).

Currently trying to upload seventiesfilmnut's sound files currently (for the umpteenth time). I promised Darth Mallwalker I'd get them up, and I keep trying.

My machine isn't that fast. When I said I used your step by step process I meant I used the older process from your "Guide to Editing" thread. The only difference was that I skipped the VirtualDub step as you later tated in your updated step by step process in this thread. Hope that makes some kind of since.

Star Wars quite literally changed the path of my life. It set me on a career path that brought me a lot of joy and success. Had that movie not existed I don't know what profession I would have ended up in, but I'm pretty sure it wouldn't have been as fulfilling as my time spent working in film. It created entire communities, and much to my surprise when I was literally in my darkest hour, this community right here reached out to me and helped me back up again. The influence of this movie on my life and others extends far past the film itself.

It is one of the most important films of all time, it changed film making completely (for better or worse) and enthralled and entertained a good part of the world.

This quote proves that Star Wars is more than a film, it is a life style and it is a great one.

People, as I'm sure you would know, only need help when they don't know what they're getting themselves into. Kind of like people who get sunburnt (you should know that). Like I said, lifesavers do a great job, but I don't need to use (ie freeload off) their services.

Oh I see now, Your not just throwing bullshit. Your throwing cocky bullshit.

What I find disturbing is the fact that so many people here intend to freeload off the X0 project as an alternative to LD's/DVD's. And the fact I can't even post in fun anymore without being told I'm a troll.

You are a troll.

And yes, I do notice the trails and smearing, especially in ESB - but it still doesn't bother me. I once watched a movie in a cinema, got almost a minute of the picture cut out (the sound still worked)... and had no refund.

What does your theatre experience have anything to do with the GOUT release?

I also think sometimes, you guys are misleading people about the X0 project's quality. I mean, wasn't it you who said the OUT '77 crawl was recreated using CG? AND mverta? I know you guys didn't start the controversy, but still...

For someone who has only seen pictures and short documentary clips you seem to know a lot about the final quality of the film. Please tell me where you get you appearent bullshit.

And what about the issues of sound and video? It's already apparent there's more visible grain on the OUT - this can only mean it's a better presentation then the LD's. I know you're saying that you're cleaning up the video frame-by-frame, however Lucasfilm did this in 1993, and *most* of what you're cleaning up is LD defects, rather than film defects.

Your going to have to explain that first part because it didn't make any sense. About your second sentence, the 1993 restoration was 13 years ago technology has advanced a lot since then so I don't see how anyone can still consider that quality acceptable by todays average video standard.

Yes I'm a critic of this project, I don't think it's a bad project or anything - but I just think that a lot of forum members here are:

1. seeing it as an alternative to the OUT rather than a preservation...

and/or

2. seeing it as being much better then the OUT.

Zion says it's like a hobby for him, so fair enough. But if you, Laserman, are investing thousands of hours and blood sweat and tears to produce something that may at the very very best - be marginally better then the OUT - then I think you really have lost grip on reality. To spend so much time, and so much effort, for so little to me seems futile.

I'm posting here as a critic. The project does have some fantastic points about it, don't get me wrong... I just don't think it would be worth it to me to spend as much time as you 4 have preparing a preservation which is only going to be slightly better then the retail release, at best.

I have a lot of respect for you Laserman, and for Zion, and for mverta. You are all fantastic people, so please don't act as if I'm here throwing insults.. it is not my intention.

If you have so much respect, why do you fill this board with stupid shit? Also if throwing insults is not your intention you could have fulled me.

This person added Qui-Gon into the end of Return of the Jedi as a force ghost.

People need to stop believing that because they pirated a copy of Final Cut that they have an talent. Don't put Qui Gon in ROTJ, at least Hayden has a shred of relevance.

People need to stop this desperate attempt to tie the trilogies together. These desperate attempts exist because the PT were so poorly made that the two trilogies don't link up on their own merits; fiddling just makes things worse. Accept that the PT is lousy and move on.

Calm down. The guy who made this video has every right to add Qui-Gon if he wants to. If you don't like the idea then state your oppinion in a kind manner. And if you can't add something intelligent to the conversation don't say anything at all.

First Impressions of the OOT ...

(Coming in late, but...) Zombie I agree with you.

I have the 2004 DVD's and I just purchased the GOUT's, and unless there's a restored version of the OOT -or- unless there's some major change to the 2004 DVD's, there is absolutely no reason to purchase a "Saga Set".

I'm in the minority group of this sight, in that I pretty much enjoy the SE-OT and (blasphemy!) I even enjoy the PT.

My only complaints about the SE-OT are pretty much the most common complaints: "Greedo shooting first" and the Jedi Rocks sequence in ROTJ. I'm on the fence on the Christian Hayden sequence at the end of ROTJ, but other than what was mentioned, I pretty much like the SE changes.

May be somebody can answer me this question: How come nobody acknowledges (if not praises) how much better the Battle at Yavin looks in the SE-ANH? I can pretty much understand every complaint except this one. The newer Battle at Yavin looks SO much better than it did in the OOT (and I was there in 1977 being 12 yrs old at the time).

The problem with the SE DVD Battle of Yavin is the removal of the music from the first part of the battle.

The Merits of the Prequel Trilogy and the "Saga"
Time
A week ago I was a devout PT hater, but Monday I watched The Phantom Menace ( having went months without seeing it ). While I was watching it I made myself forget the rest of the movies and focus on this movie as a singular story, as if I hadn't seen the other films. And for the first time since 1999 I felt the enjoyment I felt seeing the movie on the bigscreen, I felt like a kid again, and it was the best feeling I have had in a long time. Now I can watch any one of the PT movies and enjoy them. Now I feel like the saga is complete. For the longest time I have had this gaping emotional hole due to the fact that the saga felt unfinished and incomplete, but Monday I decided that this is the PT we got and hating it isn't going to change it. I decided to accept it as part of the saga and now for the first time the saga is complete for me. You guys may not understand this but for me this a major thing. Now, I don't feel hate and rage everytime I think about Star Wars, instead I feel exitement and joy.

P.S. Please don't hate me for my change of heart, because I still absolutely love this place.

P.S.S. I still prefer the OOT over the SE.

P.S.S.S. I am not going to go and become a TF.N junkie, because I still am a devout TF.N hater.

Here is a DNS Lookup of MySpleen.com:http://www.dnsstuff.com/tools/lookup.ch?name=myspleen.com&type=A

PeerGuardian lists it as: ServerBeach Emule Servers | P2P Fakes

Either add it to your custom allow list or pull up your history and you'll probably see it blocked a bunch. Right click and permanently allow.

Whenever I have trouble with a torrent site I always check for repeated hits to my BT port on PG2.
I'll then lookup the IP to find out if I'm blocking the server.

Does peer guardian speed up your download rate?

Star Wars Limited Edition Screen Captures.

The blue stars are very prominant when the Millenium Falcon is fleeing from Bespin at the end of the movie.

Things that piss me off when opening new DVDs

Yes! It is so annoying! I suppose we can blame shoplifters, but it still seems like overkill! Wouldn't just the outside plastic wrap be enough without those three sealing stickers reminding us that there is a magnetic strip inside the case? On my new OUT DVDs, all three of them stuck to the spine like you complained about. ESB was the only one whose sticky things like residue. I have found a somewhat useful trick for keeping the cover paper from ripping if it's too high or low. Rather than come at it from the bottom, cut a hole at the top and take it off from there. I've found that it doesn't tear up as often that way.

The spine on my copy of ESB looks horrible, too. The plastic wrap incasing the DVD stuck to the spine and when I pulled the plastic wraping off it left little pieces of plastic and glue residue on the spine.
