The kind of man (along with Lucas by the way, as well as Zemeckis, Spielberg, Jackson and Del Toro) who is a pioneer and a researcher in cinematic ways of telling a story. Since you plan to add a day dream scene, I think you could have some kind of pattern here to better explain the awakening of the force through Rey:
1- Day dream
2- Force vision
3- Unlocked mind by Ren
4- Jedi mind trick
5- Anakin’s lightsaber that goes into Rey’s hand after Finn vs Ren

Then would you consider adding material as well within points 3 and 4 in order to smoother Rey’s “evolution” ? Especially during the jedi mind trick sequence which doesn’t work and does seem forced in its theatrical version. Something like adding Ben’s voice-over from ANH about weak minded, as if Rey was “guided” through the Force, for example ?

Good ? Well, if you think so… TFOTF (aka FF8) is so dumb it gets unwatchable (the opening scene is fun though). Even Theron is a very terrible vilain (who wrote her endless stupid monologues ?). The rip off of Hard Boiled was quite confusing as well. Fast Five is way better and still is the best of the series. At least FF8 is not as arrogant as FF6.

I have seen plenty of movies that are far worse (lately The fate of the furious). At least AOTC has a solid score, very interesting visual ideas, and was a unique experimental flick at its time. Some scenes are even quite good.
