Yoda's Secret Identity
Time
Quote

You see, back then we didn´t have a little thing called the "internet" to spoil things like this.

very true!!

the first time i saw Yoda was wayyyyyy back when...
i never thought he was a puppet when i was younger, but a tiny person inside of a suit....
after all we did end up seeing his feet in ROTJ...
but i believe he was just so well done.. especially for those times...

I remember thinking the same thing as Luke when Yoda first appeared on screen..
he was just some annoying creature living in the swamp that likes to get into mischief...
however when he reveals himself to Luke that he is the big jedi master i was in complete shock!
definatly another reason which makes empire the best...
all the small twists and turns that we as an audience never expected

well i totally agree with you when you say that school is stressful... and getting worse from what i hear...
i feel there's far too much emphasis put on testing (mainly final exams)
i feel students usually memorize their stuff they need to know and end up forgetting it all during the summer anyway...
just my opinion...

but if i honesly had a choice between work and school...
i would have to pick school...
thats just me though...

hey Darth im guessing your from the States...
and if so do you guys still have OAC/Grade 13 over there?
i know up here in Canada they did away with that last year and therefore have to cram everything into just 4 years of highschool...

I think the question of "which film is better TPM or AOTC?' is akin to 'which tastes better horseshit or dogshit?'

Either way it's still a pile of shit in your mouth.

For me I'd say that from a film making and narrative standpoint TPM emerges as the slightly better product. It's a more cohesive whole where AOTC feels like it was slammed together out of the poorly shot leftover parts of something better and edited by a Rhesus monkey with ADHD.

Not that TPM is in any way an enjoyable experience but it's a slightly preferable one, like having to choose the method of one's own execution.

I realise that in some ways AOTC is trying to pander to what it expects a Star Wars fanbase would like to see but I feel it does this at the expense of the narrative and characters. It's a bit like Star Wars porn; poorly written badly acted scene, ACTION, ACTION, MONEY-SHOT, *wipe*, atrociously written disinterestedly acted scene, MORE ACTION, MORE MONEY-SHOTS!! *wipe*.

Maybe I'm just a jaded OT fan who invested too much significance in the minutiae of films I saw in my youth in the late seventies and early eighties or maybe I know what I'm on about and George Lucas should never be allowed near the business end of a pencil, let alone standing behind a camera attempting to direct actors.

LMAO!!
too many funny things in this post to quote...
MORE MONEY-SHOTS!!

and did i say $20??

as to DJR...

1. I dont find that negative opinions from others influence my opinion on the prequels. I know what i like and what i dont regardless of what people think or say. I was the one out of almost everyone i know to say that i disliked Kill Bill. Maybe others are influenced by it i dont know.

2. Again i feel that it is basically a matter of opinion. Nothing can change my belief that these movies were poorly executed. I had high expectations going into the theater for these movies, and how could you not? It's going to be hard to live up to a trilogy such as Star Wars. I do have respect for the man's accomplishments (ie. ILM, Skywalker Sound, Lucasarts) but none of this influences my opinion on his PT.

3. I also think the same as bad_karma24. If they do buy these DVDs in September and find out they're not the same they're not going to demand they're money back or make some big deal out of it. They'll prolly say "they look no different to me"

4. I have bought the DVDs. I do watch certain snippets of the movie either to show off my Home Theatre (sizemic charges) but have never watched through the whole DVD. I also believe in completing the set no matter how bad they are.

5. Box office numbers are just as accurate as the Oscars. People i know and many on this board have said they will only see Episode III to complete the experience. After all it is Star Wars... and going to the theater to see this movie is just an experience in itself. Hell i stood in the pouring rain for AOTC and to be honest with you, had a better time chatting with other fans than i did watching the movie. It's just plain fun!

Boycott Special Edition DVD's - I know you can do it
Time
Han knows Greedo is going to shoot him!!!!!
thats why he takes his gun out about half way through the conversation....
Greedo trys to bargin with Han and when Han realizes that nothing he says is going to get him out of the situation he decides to take action...

now from a story telling point of view it wouldnt make sense for Greedo to just shoot out of nowhere..
Lucas was taking ideas from old Western movies and whatnot when he made this...

so he gives us a confrontation, we know our character is doomed.... and instead of having it over in 1 second he makes is suspensful...
words are exchange, and right before Greedo fries Han.... Han fires and ultimatly the crowd cheers!

It's perfect!!!

I would really like to have seen the documentaries on the upcoming DVDs but I'll just pass on them if they only come with the new horribly disfigured version of Star Wars. If I could somehow get this extras disc on its own then I would. (Anyone?)

give it a day after the release my friend...
those documentaries will be swarming all torrent sites and P2P networks in no time...
if anything thats the only disc i will watch of the set...
and im not even going to bother renting it...
