Skyfall: B+

I really enjoyed this film, it had good acting, good characters, great direction and cinematography, and an interesting story. The ending was a bit anticlimactic, but I enjoyed the film nonetheless.

Dr No: B-

It dragged a lot in the second act, most characters are underdeveloped, and the story is pretty poor, but overall the good outweighed the bad.

To quote Noel Coward: “No, no, no!”

Dr. No is arguably the finest film in the series. To me Skyfall had none of the qualities mentioned above but at least it wasn’t Spectre.

I just didn’t love Dr No, it plodded around a bit, and Honey Ryder was a terrible love interest. Skyfall had some great cinematography, a great villain who was in the film for more than ten minutes (that isn’t a detractor from Dr No, I just thought I’d bring it up), a flawed main character (seriously, James Bond in Dr No isn’t compelling in the slightest), and some great love interests with personality. Keep in mind that I really do like Dr No, I just find it overrated.

Better than anything I saw in the prequels.

I think that should be expected, considering 10 years technology difference.

Prequel CGI was outdated back when it released.

Then show me a film released at the same time with was supposed to be state-of-the-art at the time.

From memory, Lord of the Rings, Pirates of the Caribbean, Jurassic Park, I’m sure there’s many more.

The fact that the villain is a Korean man who had plastic surgery to look and sound like a British man who required a magic mask to sleep at night was a big drawback for me. 😉

Whenever I say to my friends how much Die Another Day sucks, that’s always the first thing I bring up.

Anyway, this isn’t a James Bond thread, Attack of the Clones sucks and we all know it deep down.

I can’t express enough how much I hate Attack of the Clones, so I’ll just say this:

I would rather watch Die Another Day than sit through Attack of the Clones.

I’ve seen Die Another Day several times. It doesn’t adequately illustrate your point on how bad AOTC is. You should have used a truly painful film as an example. Date Movie, perhaps.

But…the invisible car!

I will admit I could have used a worse movie. But Die Another Day is still fresh in my mind.

The four worst films I have ever experienced:
CR 06, QoS, SF, SPECTRE

You must be the only person I have ever encountered to rank Die Another Day ahead of Casino Royale.

Anyway, I’ve been on a bit of a Bond marathon lately, after never watching one until a few weeks ago, and I must say, they’ve had an excellent track record so far. Out of the nine I have seen, only two I disliked.

Ranking the Batman films

  1. 1943: Batman, 15-chapter serial starring Lewis Wilson as Batman and Douglas Croft as Robin
  2. 1949: Batman and Robin, 15-chapter serial starring Robert Lowery as Batman and Johnny Duncan as Robin

nothing after 1949 is REALLY Batman. You had Adam West in the 60’s…and then a slew of shit-covered, muppet-fart campy movies…then the ‘dark knight’ trilogy…(which I enjoyed a lot but doesn’t compare to the serials of the 40’s)

Finnius has spoken. All who deign to oppose my view shall spend eternity sucking wet farts out of dead pigeons.

Why is nobody acknowledging this list? For the life of me, I never expected to see this.

Especially since neither of those things are films.

I wouldn’t say sadistic, just childish and selfish.

Yep. His comments about TFA just show how childish he could be. Then Jett came on Twitter and basically attacked people for liking the movie and saying that we were the reason Lucas never made all those awesome movies he was going to make.

Really? I need to see these tweets.

This is the End (2013): 6/10

A lot of the jokes didn’t hit home, and at times it felt as if the actors were making themselves out to be these really great people, but I quite enjoyed the film anyway.

The World is not Enough (1999): 7/10

Call me crazy, but I quite liked it. Sure Christmas Jones was an absolutely terrible love interest, and the plot was pretty muddy, but on the other hand we have the excellent music and action, and the great villains.

Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace (1999): 4/10

Meh, it could be much, much worse (Think: Attack of the Clones).

Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015): 7/10

I like it even more this time. The story, while copied pretty much beat for beat from A New Hope, worked, and the characters are fun and memorable.

Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (1982): 9/10

Very fun, all the actors were great, music was great, villain was absolutely brilliant, a little overacting here and there, but extremely great.

Goldfinger (1964): 9/10

Take notes MCU; this is how you make a fun filled romp.

Casino Royale (2006): 9/10

Take notes DCCU; this is how you make a gritty reboot.

Fixed some ratings after closer inspection.

I absolutely LOVE the World is Not Enough!

I’ve seen people rank it behind Tomorrow Never Dies and Die Another Day, and I can’t for the life of me figure out why.
