What do you LIKE about the EU?

“The old EU is true canon!” I said as I cried into my Darth Revan body pillow.

EDIT: In hindsight, this might have come across as a mean-spirited jab at Lucky. If so, that wasn’t intentional: it was just a dumb joke that popped into my head.

Man, don’t worry about making mean spirited jokes towards me; they’re my favourite type of jokes.

If you need to B*tch about something other than originaltrilogy.com... This is the place

My parents recently split up, and even though I’m not bothered by this (I prefer them being apart to contasntly shouting at each other and breaking shit), it seems to have had an effect on my grades, which are steadily declining, so now they’re both down my throat saying that I should see the school counsellor to get stuff off my chest and do more homework. Pretty annoying.

General Star Wars Random Thoughts Thread

Equally random (perhaps) is a passage from Jonathan Livingston Seagull. It was a wildly popular book in the 1970s and certainly left its mark on popular culture for decades. I’ve read it a few times through the years and below is a passage that always makes me wonder. It’s a long shot that it was an inspiration, but it was a very well known NYT best seller and widely read. It’s been referenced countless times in films, music, TV, etc

“Jonathan opened his eyes. He stood alone with the Elder on a totally different seashore - trees down to the water’s edge, twin yellow suns turning overhead”.

If there are other science fiction stories or films predating the 70s and referencing twin suns (and there may be several), I’m unaware of them.

Talos IV in the original Star Trek TOS pilot was a binary system. Spock mentions it in dialog at one point.

Good observation though!

Talos IV? There is a planet in Star Wars Legends called Telos IV. Coincidence?

Is Star Wars Your Favorite Movie?

My favorite film of all time is pretty much a tie (or should I say TIE) between ANH and RotS. I love them both for different reasons (and nostalgia isn’t one of them). I’ll admit that RotS is really slow in the middle, but everything else makes up for it. Besides, I’m sure there’s fan edits that remove that stuff. The opening is a lighthearted adventure, and the rest is really emotional and beautifully tragic. ANH is just a lighthearted adventure the whole way through. As for other movies I really love, the only ones that come to mind are Wall-E and Up, but I’m sure there are others (and not just Pixar movies).

I agree with this, and like it quite a bit, but I wouldn’t say I think it’s one of the best movies ever (far from it actually).

I don’t like skinny jeans.

Ugh, me neither, I see them so much. I always go for the baggiest, thickest, clothes I can find, and all my friends say I look like a stereotypical drug dealer.

This is just as bad. I don’t know why people can’t just wear clothes that fit anymore.

Oh no, my pants do fit me, around the waist and don’t got over my shoes and stuff, but they’re quite baggy, which I feel is much more comfortable than wearing tight pants. Same goes for shirts and jackets, I much prefer warmth to looking fashionable.

United 93 (2006)

Very sad, very heart wrenching, as to be expected of a film based on the awful events that transpired on that day. The film captured the intensity and desperation that the passengers would have been feeling very well. Of course, since it is based on real life events, not all characters can get complete closure, with Ben Sliney disappearing near the end. I also really enjoyed that, unexpectedly, the main character seemed to be Ziad Jarrah, who in a lesser film might have been portrayed as an evil man. I’ll give it a solid nine out of ten.
