I actually have the prequels on dvd. Even though I think Clones and Revenge are two of the crappiest films ever made. I periodically feel the need to study them to dissect their awfulness, to figure out how they manage to be quite so bad. They're just so awful they have to be studied.

I don't care I liked ROTS, Attack of the Clones is not that bad, 6 out of 10 just on the account of seeing the jedi in battle. I most certainly think that you need to just stop watching them because your negativity is just bumming me out. I'm just a glass half full kinda guy, especially when it comes to star wars. Now Alien vs. Predator is a whole nother story.....

The Jedi in battle in Clones is one of the worst things about the film. It was done so lamely and it was so uninvolving. Really bad filmmaking. I'm sorry my "negativity" is bumming you out, but if a person can't be against the prequels on this site of all sites where can it be done? There really is no call to be "glass half full" about Star wars, not with all the damage that has been done. There are serious problems that need to be addressed.

Well my opinion is from one who was not alive for the OOT but was introduced by my parents before it was known that there would be a PT, I love them, and being 6 years old in a movie theatre after seeing all these lame fights in OOT and seeing Darth Maul ignite that double-bladed lightsaber I'm sorry I was hooked from then on.

How the hell is GG still in command come ROTS? - All he has done is lose ships, troops, and power weapons. I know the seperatists are all being played by Palpy but it would be nice to see him as a competent opponent from time to time.

I actually started laughing when he abandoned ship for like the third episode in a row.  "Screw you guys, I'm leaving!"

well, we haven't seen too many battles yet, but the other thing that i've noticed about

shows with war plots, is you usually dont' see the dark/evil side win too often..

i've just started watching the 'v' series (the tv show/miniseries) , and although the

aliens are winning overall , they pretty much get outsmarted / beaten in every episode

i've seen.

also, shows like battlestar galactica, terminator, and older ones like m*a*s*h, hogans heros, and pretty much every other war related show,

the bad guys always have had an overall advantage, but you don't see them showing that a lot..

i think people would get tired / bored if the bad guys won every time, or even most of the time.

sure, there's a balance to that, that they could find..

but in the case of clone wars, since the empire/dark side has such a huge advantage,

what would be the point of showing it over and over again?

even grievous had to get to his point of power by winning a lot of battles/wars/fights and

outsmarting the enemy.... i'm sure there will some episodes upcoming that will show that.

we'll just have to see how it goes...

I think Grievous beats on Kit Fisto in a few weeks.

Now all i need is for Jar Jar to die like in Robot Chicken.

Can they  do a bonus episode where Vader just cuts him in half.

My favorite of all time is seeing Jar Jar on Alderaan when it Gets blown up.  Man i almost died laughing at that adywan clip.

You feel bad for Bail but Boy did Jar Jar deserve it.

I hate to tell you but after next weeks episode episode 8 is about Jar Jar

Taken from list of Clone Wars Episodes:

8 "Bombad Jedi" November 21, 2008
Jar Jar Binks is a Jedi Knight? So thinks the Separatists when the comically heroic Gungan and C-3PO fight to save Padmé Amidala from doom at the hands of evil Viceroy Nute Gunray

And if you please I've never seen the footage of Bail and Jar Jar dieing on Alderaan, if anyone could point me to it I'd love to see it!

EDIT: To see the description of the Episode just highlight the field of text that is whited out, sorry.

Yeah, Lucas was crazy to use a digital camera instead of real 35mm film for Episodes II and III. In doing so, he cut the resolution of those two prequels to around 1/4 of what The Phantom Menace has (that's a massive loss), plus there are other image quality deficiencies with an HD camera compared to a 35mm film camera.

Sometimes I think Lucas does things like this just to be on the "cutting edge", even if it gives inferior results. The problem is that newer is not always better, in this case, it's definitely not better.

Other than someone who is making a small budget independent movie where he just can't afford to use 35mm, everyone should be using film. And even if the guy can't afford 35mm, apparently it would be better to use 16mm film than go down to a digital camera. Zombie could offer more details, he's knows all about that stuff. :)

Yea its just so disappointing because the rest of the movie looks great.

Wow, people actually try to rationalize something so unrationalizable (did I just make up a word)?  Do lightsabers even have "stun" settings?

Well if anyone reads the novels I can't remember which one but when Obi Wan is like caught in something Qui Gon turned it down to a "less lethal" setting, but of course a novel is a novel not Star Wars canon, besides it wouldn't make sense with luke on the sail barge in ROTJ beating dudes with it like a neon baseball bat, rather Force Unleashed like. :p

I'm not sure what res they did the CGI special effects stuff at for Episodes II and III, but the most important thing is that the movie itself is only 1k. Since The Phantom Menace was scanned in at 2k, they may well have done the CGI part of the special effects at that res, or they may have done it at 4k. Because when a Star Wars movie is shown at theaters you want as much detail as you can get in the special effects to match up with the inherent detail you get with real film in the movie.

LordVader: haha :) Yeah, Lucas did go overboard with the CGI stuff in Episodes II and III.

Actually I have a followup to my comment, I recently downloaded Episode III in 720p HD (my pc doesnt run well with 1080p) and I was just trying to be funny, but unfortunately its true. Compared to the enhanced HD cgi, the objects and people that were actually filmed look quite lackluster. Prime examples would be interactions between Grievous and human actors, and Yoda's fight with Palpatine. It almost looks to me like the human actors don't belong. By far the most impressive scene compared to the SD is the space battle in the beginning, looks just amazing, if only I could see what its like in 1080p.

Actually, The Phantom Menace has far more resolution than Episodes II and III. The Phantom Menace was shot on real film, which has enough detail to easily support a 4k scan, even tough they only scanned it in at 2k at the time. The other two prequels were shot on a HD camera with it's fixed resolution of only 1920x1080 (you can think of this as sort of the rough equivalent of what we might call a 1k scan), so they are stuck with that. You can try to upsample that, of course, but you can't add in resolution that wasn't filmed.

On the other hand, Lucas can go back any time and scan in The Phantom Menace master prints at 4k and double the res and detail of their scanned copy, which then is down-sampled for use on VHS, laserdisk, DVD, HD, etc. for home video. But Episodes II and III will always be stuck with the fact that they only have 1920x1080 worth of resolution in their source picture. This was a really dumb thing to do, but that's what Lucas decided to try. So, ironically, it's the first Star Wars prequel that will always look better than the latest two prequels. :)

Didn't he also render the cg shots in 2k only? I know episodes 2 and 3 were shot in 1920x1080p but wasn't the cg done in 4k?

If that is true then I guess II and III wont be that far behind I, I mean a good 97% of the movie is cg, so aside from the actors lacking we should be okay. :D

Lord of the Rings on Blu Ray

skyjedi2005 said:

If the rights revert to Christopher Tolkien not only will the 2 hobbit films never get made.  But their will be no more home video releases on blu ray or dvd of a trilogy that was produced in Breech of contract with the story authors heirs.

But in this case Christopher Tolkien did not like the artistic License Jackson and New Line made to his fathers books.  He believes they were butchered.

Amazingly enough Simon Tolkien, Christopher Tolkiens eldest son from a previous marriage who never talks to his father and has a strained relationship with him Is one of Jackson's supporters and thinks Jackson kept the heart of his Grandfathers tales intact.Turns out that The Silmarillion and all its parts have been protected by being sullied by Hollywood.  These works are protected except for the bare mention of them in the LotR, or the Hobbit plot,or lotr appendices.

Well that's sad, I hope Christopher realizes with the amount of content in the original LOTR books it would take atleast 6 movies to cover the material if his gripe is they didn't tell the entire story, which they did leave out the whole War in the North with the elves and dwarfs attacking Dol GulDor, but really it didn't fit with the story of the Fellowship. So to sum it up I rather enjoyed Lord of the Rings, the trilogy is one of my favorite stories ever (and not to incite a Clerks II type of bashing back and forth) I still prefer the Star Wars Trilogy. I just need to get me that Blu Ray player or PS3 for christmas and I'm ready.

I played through the game a few weeks ago and I thought it was really lack luster. As the name implies it's all about force powers so you run around attack with a force power wait for your powers to replenish and repeat. The lightsaber is completely worthless unless you are fighting the standard pawn enemies. I gave up upgrading the combo's half way through the game since there pointless. The fighting and overall game play were incredibly repetitive. Also charging full price for a game that has nothing other than a single player campaign (Xbox360) is ridiculous. I really thought the new technologies sounded promising but they were executed poorly. The story was alright but its still a video game story. The fact is, I think it could have been much cooler to see all that in the movies but GL really scrwed up the PT so we get a a terrible game to play with a half-a$$ed story to fill all the gaps. Glad I just rented it.

i got mine on the psp and one of its options aside from single player was playing historic lightsaber duels or events. For example, one of the first ones was the battle between anakin and dooku on grevious's ship. another was in the geonosis arena. idk if the 360 verision had that.

No unfortuantely, but I wouldn't rule it out on coming on DLC, in fact I already know they are working on other missions.

Hmm... The Old Republic game?

skyjedi2005 said:

so I went back and rewatched the video and some of the guys who worked on kotor and mass effect are involved.  There is also the possibility this could be a good game and an awesome mmo, but i fucking hate mmos.  That is why despite how awesome people claimed it was i never did play final fantasy online.

I prefer a game with a single player story Like a movie, or novel would be like.

Except you can choose to Be light side or male or female and how your character looks.

The creator's or creator make a script and story plot that is followed.

MMO's as far as i know are random Chat online in game, or talk with other people online and do random quests battleling and leveling up and there is no story only a change in setting.

You could pretend a story in your head, and you do get more customization of how your character looks and evolves in an mmo but story has never been the point of mmo.

MMO to me is crap it is like that old dungeons and dragons card game only online.  Nerds can hang out and converse i can already do that for free.

Funny how people Love the online version of halo 3 for example but their is no story and only random battles like an mmo.  I only like the single player game because there is actually a story and not just some randomness, it may be fun but is it worth the money?

Next thing you know bioware will announce plans that Mass effect will be scrapped in favor of a mmo, and some angry fan will go crazy.  That is about the same thing they are doing here.

Plus this is star wars and will be kept kiddy.  At least mass effect had sex in it, Lucas will never allow that in star wars. No Ultra killing or violence.

I mean seriously all people want is a lightsaber so they can go apeshit and cut off other enemies limbs, cut them in half etc. Since it is Lucas i bet major censorship is involved.  Since he took out violence in the special editions, toned done the violence in Return Of the Jedi in 1983.   Remember Luke so called "stun setting" lightsaber on the skiff barge in return of the jedi.  He strikes them with his lasersword and all they do is fall into the sarlacs maw.  No severed limbs or cutting in half.

I am not a fan of ultra violence or killing type movies, violence just for the sake of violence is dumb.

But still Lucas had no problem with Maul being cut in half in menace, or Anakin losing his arm in clones, or losing both his other arm and legs in sith.  See he is never consistant.  Removed the laser burns from the troopers in star wars and had greedo shoot first.  But in the same movie you still have the smoking skeletons and Ponda Baba getting his arm severed by Kenobi in the Cantina and there was blood.  Then In Empire Strikes Back Luke gets his hand cut off at the wrist and there is no bood and the wound is cauterized.

Now he does not even allow kissing in the clone wars cartoon. Guess he better go back and take out those scenes in empire strikes back, Return of the Jedi, Attack of the Clones or Revenge of the Sith. Since romantic kissing between a man and woman is now considered off limits.

Man you do take these cripes to the extreme and many things I disagree with you on, but you make a very good points and I have to agree for the most part. GL has taken inconsistency to the extreme, and it deeply saddens me, thank God for the fans like Adywan  and Lex the Robot who walk closely behind Lucas with a pooper scooper and although some of the poop is stuck to the grass they atleast make an effort to clean up the shit.

I recently converted my AVI version of Adywan's Star Wars Revisited to mp4, it plays fine on itunes but when I play it on my ipod there's no sound, the reason being there are multiple audio channels,  but an ipod does not support mupltiple channels, I just need to convert the audio to stereo, how would I go about that?
