A Star Wars USB Drive - Box, Case, Tape, Tin, Frame, Figure & Cover Thread...
Time

Came across these on Ebay, includes a sleeve to insert a cover but it’s a bit small.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Flash-drive-case-red-4-pack-/112338231795

Also that elite photo box can be bought on Amazon if you live in the states: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00FS0SKYA/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I got one and it’s pretty great! Had to resize the “Digital Movie Collection” cover but it looks fantastic when inserted into the box.

Edit: Here’s a Kylo Ren USB cover made from one of the pre-loaded HP Star Wars wallpapers:

You should do the rest of the Star Wars Saga, or not.

Qui-gon Jinn’s lightsaber (Green)TPM
Mace Windu’s lightsaber (Purple)AOTC
Obi-wan’s lightsaber (Blue)ROTS

Kylo Ren’s lightsaber (Red)TFA

I don’t know which lightsaber to use for TLJ, as Luke’s Blue lightsaber is used for ANH, and his green one is used for ROTJ.

TLJ is a bit tricky as Anakin’s saber is the only one featured aside from Kylo’s. I say repurpose Anakin’s saber but have it reflect the first TLJ poster where the bottom is blue and transitions to red as you go up the blade.

^ Cool project that mate - good luck with it 😃

I haven’t had much time to do any work on the video tapes as yet - but did pick up some hinges for the vhs tapes from a hardware store today, so hope to start something quite soon…

In the meanwhile, I did find these cool videos - which may be of interest for anyone with a spare SNES cart, and wants to convert one into an external USB hard drive:-

PAL carts - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ackV3KfYNts (2.5" laptop drive)

US carts - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ttYmX-1I8RU (SSD)

or if you have the skills (and tools) then make your own stylish custom wooden box for a USB external hard drive - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xtLkOcaUYb4

or buy a cheap transparent hard drive enclosure, like this one below:-

and then put your own custom cover in it to suit your own taste/preference 😃

I found an Instructable on how to convert a VHS tape into a hard drive: http://www.instructables.com/id/VHS-Tape-Storage-Drive/

I doubt it’s the same guy but if that fails you could always try repurposing the SNES cart tut.

For me, I hated this movie but I can see myself trying to improve it. The goal of my edit would be to focus the film on Luke, Kylo, and Rey.

 • Cut “Canto Bight” subplot: Was pointless to the film and only served to pad runtime. (To be replaced by deleted scenes of Luke training Rey perhaps?) We pick up with Finn and Rose talking to JD in hyperspace.

 • Move the throne room sequence to after The Resistance lands on Crait.

 • Cut Poe’s “Prank Call” to Hux

 • Make Luke more heroic

 • Minimize “Marvel-Style” humor

That’s for starters.

How would you make Luke even more heroic?

I mean make him less mopey and self-loathing.

NJVC Custom Blu-ray Set of Harmy’s Despecialized Editions now available on Mega
Time

solkap said:

Yeah, everything everyone is saying makes sense, plus the fact that the stand alone film is available officially From Harmy in DVD5 format.

I guess I just wish that there had been OOT DVD’s besides GOUT.

Way back in the 90’s, pre-special edition, the “Face” VHS copies were pretty good quality for their time. Now, thanks to Harmy & NJVC, the movies can be well represented on blu-ray as well.

But DVDs never really got their fair shake at having a fully feature loaded release of the OOT. And that makes me kinda sad. Perhaps it’s just the nostalgia in me.

You’re not the only one who feels the same way.

The Last Jedi: Official Review and Opinions Thread ** SPOILERS **
Time

I don’t know how to feel about this movie. I liked how it subverts my expectations yet at the same time it makes VII feel pointless.

 • It disregards what VII set up like killing off Snoke, Rey’s parents being nobodies, etc.

 • Yoda looked ugly, Uncanny Valley in full effect.

 • The forced humor. It clashes with tone with no sense of timing.

 • Canto Bight subplot dragged the film down.

 • Luke’s “death” made no sense and we got cheated out of a real fight between Kylo and Luke.

 • Missed oppertnites abound like Luke’s X-Wing being underwater, Rey joining Kylo in hopes of redeeming him, etc.

 • Rose was stupid to not let Finn sacrifice himself dooming the Resistance until Luke showed up. Good job dumbass.

 • It brings the Empire vs Rebels 2.0 fear I had to terrifying reality.

I think I hate this movie. It added nothing to the story while subtracting elements that made Star Wars special. This film has destroyed my passion to the point I no longer care about what happens in IX.

How do I extract a commentary track?
Time

As part of my effort to put the Star Wars movies on my USB drive and sorta emulate the 2015 Blu-Ray set I want to include the George Lucas commentary tracks since I like listening to them while I’m doing other stuff and instead of ripping the entire film again I just want the commentary track and preferably in MP3 format.

Can anyone give me some advice?

^ Sweet they are mate, nice one 😃

Top idea in re-using your old Star Wars watch box as a usb drive holder too!

If you have a spare ikea-style pic frame those ‘Complete Saga’ pics may also be a good fit for that? (always good to have options 😃)

(I just rest the small usb drive on the bottom ledge)

My next ‘project’…

Saw the idea on https://www.geeky-gadgets.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/VHS-Tape-External-Hard-Drives_1.jpg

^ these are seemingly no longer for sale. Yet the premise seems cool…

Got a spare blank vhs tape and a spare (or reprinted or bought from ebay etc) Star Wars cover?

Want to gut the blank vhs tape to house a portable USB external hard drive in it - with a load of Star Wars content on?

I’ve no idea on how to do it (without likely visiting A&E or cutting myself) - but will soon hopefully work it out… 😃

Will likely take some ideas from this ‘vhs to folding pencil case’ video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7lHzwhPxvBY

(You could just slap a Star Wars sticker onto a portable USB hard drive too - though that seems far too easy and maybe not quite as much fun… 😉)

There is also the making an old vhs tape into a nightlight / lamp too:-

^ from https://www.etsy.com/shop/NancysJars

or how to make one yourself - http://www.instructables.com/id/VHS-DECORATION-LAMP/

… but one thing at a time 😉

Thanks, I’m trying to emulate the Blu-Ray set by grabbing all the documentaries, featurettes, webisodes, deleted scenes, bloopers, and specials I can find relating to I - VI while adding some new things that were sadly left out like Empire Of Dreams, The Legacy Revealed, Trailers/TV Spots, and even a few new parodies like Sith Apprentice, Chad Vader, etc. It’s a pain sometimes but it’s a labor of love.

I have few blank VHS tapes so color me interested in your new project.

That’s awesome. Do you have a link for the Vader? I am doing a version 2 box set, but I want to have usb’s in there as well.

Sure. Here you go:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Star-Wars-Mimobot-Darth-Vader-Unmasked-Flash-Drive-64GB/112279297028?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

32GB Version: https://www.amazon.com/Darth-Vader-Unmasked-MIMOBOT-Flash/dp/B008MHHAQK/ref=pd_day0_147_1?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=N33CBRX4JFFPXCAAGD63

There’s apparently two face versions of the Vader one when you take the cap off. The scarred Hayden Christensen version and the pale Sebastian Shaw one from ROTJ. I think the 64GB one is from a later reissue where you’re guaranteed the ROTJ one but I could be wrong.

I’ve noticed the price of the official Star Wars USB Drives (in the shape of the characters) have dropped recently…

http://www.ebay.com/bhp/star-wars-usb

https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_2?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=star+wars+usb

It seems that a 16gb USB drive in the shape of Vader, Yoda, R2, BB8, Stormtrooper, Boba Fett, Maul and all - go for around $10 - new with free delivery, a 32gb version for a couple of $'s more, and a 64gb version for around $20…

They look quite fun & decent on the shelf next to the vhs, dvd, bluray cases and other Star Wars releases etc - also serving as a back-up device too - and obviously they don’t require any boxes, cases or printing of ink at all…

just a few examples…

Very helpful! I found a 64GB Darth Vader Mimobot for a reasonable $35 😄 Can’t wait to load it up with the my copies of the Despecialized Editions as well as any other SW-related material/videos. I even have an empty Darth Vader watch box to put it in.

'97 vs. '04 (and '11) - Your preference?
Time

I saw the ‘95 “Faces” tapes as a kid an those will forever remain my go-to version but the 97’ SE is the version I watched “on the big screen” to quote the trailer so I have a soft spot for those versions and in retrospect, has the least damaging amount of changes and still for the most part hems close to the original version.

So yeah, if I HAD to choose 1 version to watch it would be the 97’ SE every time.
