Dragon Ball GT: A Daima inspired TDS Cut [Blue Water Dubbed]
Time

After watching Dragon Ball Daima, one thought kept running through my head: “Why couldn’t GT have been like this?”

Dragon Ball GT has always been a saga of amazing concepts buried under terrible execution and draggy writing. Inspired by Daima’s compact style and tight pacing, my next fan edit project is giving GT the overhaul it always deserved.

What to Expect:

 • A Tight 20-Episode Run: Just like Daima, this edit condenses the journey into a fast-paced, high-quality 20-episode series.

 • Focused Sagas: The edit focuses entirely on the strongest material—the Black Star Dragon Ball Arc and the Baby Arc.

 • Major Cuts: The Super No. 17 and Evil Dragon arcs are cut completely to keep the storyline cohesive and consistent in quality.

 • Character & Plot Polish: I’m trimming scenes, fluff, and character moments that hurt the cast or derail the plot, leaving only a stronger, tighter story.

Dragon Ball Super: The Tankōbon TDS Cut {V1 W.I.P}
Time

Since starting the original Dragon Ball Tankōbon edit back in January, it’s been an awesome journey—and my upcoming Dragon Ball Super project will follow that exact same format!
I’ll be condensing the anime down into 8 volumes. To stay completely true to the manga’s path, I’ll be skipping the Resurrection ‘F’ arc since it wasn’t fully adapted in the manga. This means the edit covers the Battle of Gods arc, the Universe 6 Tournament, the Future Trunks arc, and dives deep into the Tournament of Power.
I’m cutting this project off strictly at the end of Volume 8. While the anime finishes out the Tournament of Power, the manga actually concludes the tournament halfway through Volume 9 before immediately launching into the Moro arc (which the anime never covered). To keep the volume structure perfectly clean and avoid splitting arcs, Volumes 1–8 is the sweet spot!

Dragon Ball: The Tankōbon TDS Cut {V3 W.I.P} [Ocean & FUNimation Dubbed]
Time

What this project is:

Instead of traditional TV episodes, I have structured this project so that each manga volume is adapted into its own feature-length episode/film. This ensures the pacing perfectly mirrors the original Tankōbon release from start to finish.

Version 1 Stumble Beginnings:

Version 1 was my learning phase. I rushed through it in about three weeks, and the result was too rough to publish—especially after I accidentally deleted half my work! While it will stay firmly in the vault, I’m keeping it as a reminder to always give the editing process the patience it deserves. For those interested in the evolution of this project and the raw data, here is a look at the Version 1 titles and runtimes

Volume 17 - The World’s Greatest Team - 00:58

Volume 18 - The Kai of Worlds - 01:38

Volume 19 - Earth vs. the Saiyan - 01:11

Volume 20 - Goku vs. Vegeta - 01:02

Volume 21 - Dragon Ball in Space - 01:33

Volume 22 - Battlefield Namek - 01:32

Volume 23 - The Ginyu Force - 01:46

Volume 24 - Goku vs. Ginyu - 01:41

Volume 25 - The Wrath of Frieza - 01:28

Volume 26 - Goku vs. Frieza - 01:44

Volume 27 - The Super Saiyan - 01:40

Volume 28 - Enter Trunks - 02:05

Volume 29 - The Red Ribbon Androids - 01:37

Volume 30 - Rise of the Androids - 01:45

Volume 31 - The Terror of Cell - 01:59

Volume 32 - The Hyperbolic Time Chamber - 01:24

Volume 33 - The Cell Games - 01:58

Volume 34 - Gohan vs. Cell - 01:15

Volume 35 - Death of a Warrior - 01:34

Volume 36 - The New Generation - 01:45

Volume 37 - Tournament of Moetals - 01:52

Volume 38 - Mark of the Wizard - 01:50

Volume 39 - Buu Unleashed - 02:04

Volume 40 - Hercule to the Rescue - 02:02

Volume 41 - Last Hero Standing! - 02:15

Volume 42 - Goodbye, Dragon Universe - 02:41

Version 2:

This is where the project truly found its identity. Like Version 1 my primary goal was to cut out the anime filler to match Toriyama’s exact pacing. But I also wanted the viewer to actively feel the structure of the manga while watching but, this time not watching a soulless hack job but an anime. To achieve this, I used the anime’s classic eyecatch (the commercial break bumpers) as structural bridges throughout the episode. They act as visual chapter markers—signaling the exact end of one manga chapter and the beginning of the next. It gives the edit a rhythmic, page-turning flow. The volume titles this time are factually faithful to the manga this time. Finally, while my original dream was to create an Ocean dub edit, I wanted to make this accessible to the entire community. Version 2 officially features two versions. You can watch the edit with the nostalgic Ocean dub, or switch over to the FUNimation dub depending on your preference.

Future Version 3 the final version:

While I’m incredibly proud of where the cut is right now, I view this as a living project. I am continually learning new editing techniques, and my long-term goal is to give this entire series a massive, definitive polish. Eventually, I plan to go back and seamlessly smooth out any rough edges or minor mistakes from my earlier cuts. But my most ambitious goal for Version 3 is audio restoration. I hope to utilize AI voice tools to recreate missing lines and fill in the historical gaps left behind in the original Ocean dub. The dream is to eventually provide a truly uninterrupted, flawless Ocean audio track that matches the manga frame-for-frame synced to the seed of might footage as version 2 is currently synced to Dragon Box footage.

Sources and Special Thanks:

A special thank you to the following creators and groups. I used their incredible work and archival efforts as the base for my edits, and this project wouldn’t exist without them!!

The Seed of Might Project - For providing the incredible base materials and footage that made editing this possible.

JKoshaRun1 - For his incredible work syncing the Ocean and Westwood dubs to the Dragon Box footage.

IAmTheMilkMan - Whose “Dragon Ball Recut” introduced me to the world of fan editing and inspired this entire journey.

I must have missed something but, does Book 6 have subtitles for the Mandalorian dialect?

It does but try watching on VLC as the subtitles are not burned on yet, it’s the first release so it had been ready for Mando and Grogu!

Acbagel will be releasing a follow up as he always does tidying the edit up

I watch everything on VLC!! Thank you for clearing things up for me!!

Darth Farmer is the mocking nickname given to Prowse based on the on set recordings. So called because his Bristol accent is more associated with agricultural archetypes, at least in the 70s it was.

I Always thought Prowse was Scottish though?

Not sure why you thought that. He was from Bristol.

Ah I see, I have no idea why I thought that either.

Surprisingly great compared to the one back in 70’s behind the scenes. If they used this, I’d have no objection. Though I still don’t understand the link between this and “Darth Farmer”. It SORT OF, I express the words SORT OF reminds me of either the Emperor or the Horned King or a character you’d hear from The Lord of the Rings.

I grow weary of people taking the piss out of David Prowse’s on set delivery. He was wearing a mask so he had to yell for the other actors to catch their cues. He knew the voice would be recorded in post production but was led to believe he would be doing it. He was an actor. If given the task he wouldn’t have performed it in his own Bristol accent. Would it be as good as JEJ, doubtful, but it wouldn’t have been the same voice he used on set. Anthony Daniels also knew his lines would be rerecorded so he too used his natural voice. Lucas intended Threepio to sound like a used car salesman but when he heard Daniels on set voice he called him back to exaggerate that performance and Threepio became a fussy butler instead. Despite the crappy way Lucas treated Prowse (and the other Darth, Peter Serafinowicz) Prowse and JEJ both praised eachother and he did a lot of charity work before his death. But yeah it would be funny. Artoo was originally going to speak English too.

You could call me out directly, no need to beat around the bush. I thought this post was just for comedy reasons. If you feel I’ve gone too far then, I’m sorry. Hope there is no bad blood between us

Nah bad blood. I am just annoyed by the prevalence of the Darth Farmer thing. Someone made a video where fans in the biz took Prowse to a sound booth and recorded him giving an actual Vader performance and did all the post production filtering and it was good. As iconic as JEJ…? probably not. If it had been there in 1977 we wouldnt know that though. I wish I could find that video

Darth Farmer? Filtering is a good idea for Vader’s voice. If they decided to stick with Prowse

Anjohan's The Rings of Power - The Film Cut [FINISHED VERSION]
Time

vranir said:

Good question. There’s a lot that matches between my edit and this one. Anjohan and I actually went back and forth contributing ideas to each other in PMs while creating/fine-tuning our edits.

Anjohan’s edit set itself apart early by being very tightly focused. His opening prologue, for instance, was amazing, and mine is very closely modeled after it. My use of a Sauron vision to open the second film and direct Galadriel toward Eregion is also directly lifted from something Anjohan did.

Overall, Anjohan’s edit has evolved to experiment with/solve the story in more radical ways than mine has. For example, in the current version, I believe he has moved the creation of the three Elven rings to the prologue of the story, with the intent of making them less tied to Sauron and more in line with the books.

My edit, meanwhile, maintains more of the vanilla storyline, but with more of a focus on chronology/trying to line up day/night cycles and keeping plot threads feeling in-synch, even if they technically aren’t. I also keep the Harfoot story as a main thread (even the heart of the series), where almost every other edit reduces them significantly as a grudging side story.

“Less tied to Sauron” he was after the rings of power of I’m not mistaken. I know he obviously had the nine rings, didn’t he also have all dwarf rings as well?

So your edit differs by keeping the same but in a more chronological set? 😯

Well… good news and bad news. I’ve got my new pc built and it’s awesome but I did end up losing all my project files. It’s no big deal it just means it’ll take a bit longer before I get back to refreshing the S1 finale and S2 episodes. The project is pretty near completion so it shouldn’t be too big of a setback!

From what I’ve watched gOOb, it’s worth the wait!

Do you keep all versions of the files or just the updated ones?

I only hold onto the most current versions. It’d take up too much space if I kept them all! Haha

Hahaha that makes sense. So what versions are you currently/eventually working on?

I’ll be working on the V4 for the final arc. Which even if I lose the project file is fine and will still release with no issues!

After that I’ve got a nearly completed s3 episode to rerelease with brand new animation and new darksaber lore to make this series blend easily into AcBagels the Way of Mandalore edits!

That’s really groovy 😎

Hi Acbagel, great project!

I have a question, if it has come up before then I apologize 😃 Are you planning to release this project in native 4K?

Almost all the source material has already appeared on Blu-ray (From what I recall, The Book of Boba Fett is due for release sometime this year). Somewhere I saw a comparison of the D+ version with the one on Blu-ray for the Obi-Wan Kenobi series, and gee, there’s a difference 😉

Thanks! Books 1-4 will not be re-released in native 4k, Books 5-6 are in native 4k.

Just wanted to say I’ve watched the first two books so far and think it’s fantastic! You did a great job. I was wondering if I could also get your Bad Batch episode 0? I’ve heard good things.

Thanks Zeb, glad you’re having a good time with it! Sure, I’ll DM you about TBB.

I thought your Bad Batch 0 was sheleved. Is it complete?
