I know this may be a insignificant thing to most, but do any of the foreign prints open with any distributor indent other than the Orion logo? I found it odd that the cut German DVD has a version of the Orion logo with inserted German text... But I thought Orion only had U.S rights while Hemdale (the main production company behind it) released in the UK? Didn't other companies have theatrical rights in other non-English speaking countries?

I'm not sure who distributed it here in Italy, it was probably the same company that dubbed it, "C.F.I." of Carlo Marini, which appears in the end credits, but the Orion logo was left where it was, they only translated it (Un film "ORION Pictures Release").

I wonder if the information we're looking for is at the bottom of that italian poster. Maybe in the fine print at the very bottom.

This site tells you which movie was number one at the box office on your birthday, or any date.

http://playback.fm/birthday-movie

This one instead finds the top song in the pop charts at a given date.

My reaction to the movie was "eeehhhhh *sigh*".

My reaction to the song, I wish I had a way to record it. It was a "nooooooooooo" of sadness, frustration, amusement... so many emotions in one second, I didn't know whether to cry or laugh.

My birthday is 20-03-88.

Folks, we have a new collaborator to this project, his handle is "Yautja" and this is what he's doing for us:

He's making a font for the opening titles. He's the author of "Modern Vision", a font that accurately reproduces the english opening titles, but since the italian title cards seem to use a different version, he's making is a custom one for this project.

Check out his work on Fontstruct:

There appears to be a textless remastered master somewhere accessible to professionnals, as TCM France aired last year the remastered Terminator with French texts. It's the first time I saw it like that:

Yet another typeface, though this one does not match neither the original font nor the italian variation. Looks like this is actually a modern, apocryphal version, like I was thinking of earlier.

"That's right, Jay!"

As he just said, we were initially using the LD as a reference, but then got our hands on a copy of a tv broadcast. This master apparently came from a Umatic and, surprisingly, looks better than the LD. Both seem to come from the same telecine.

Here's an example. LD on top, TV master below:

http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z192/luckydog21/pQ3IqyxapffvEtgdGpglh70cYSLAvdODOSVYZIQUV-U_zpse7ipysh2.png~original

http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z192/luckydog21/Terminator%20ITA/Composizione%205%200-03-50-01_zpsey4v19jr.png~original

Notice how the LD looks blown out and in general seems to resolve less lines.

Interestingly, when this scene was localized, it appears a clean plate of the shot wasn't available, so the camera pan actually stops earlier, before the english text is supposed to appear, and the italian text appears on a freeze frame. As you can see, the door isn't in the center of the shot.

Here's a couple more screengrabs, to give an idea of what the rest looks like:

http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z192/luckydog21/Terminator%20ITA/Composizione%205%200-00-49-01_zps6xq4pe7d.png~original

http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z192/luckydog21/Terminator%20ITA/Composizione%205%200-01-38-12_zpsdorbyijo.png~original

Now, I've run several comparisons, first with the LD and now with this new master, but both sources seem to indicate one thing: the typeface used for these italian titles does belong to the same family as the typeface used in the original title cards, but it is in a different weight. In other words, I've found an exact replica (or really close to it) of the original font used for the movie, and it doesn't match with this one. Like, at all. At first I thought the LD being blown out might account for it. Nope, different weight. So I've been burning my retinas lately trying to make a custom font.

For further reference, here's all the title cards

I understand, but bear in mind that that sort of thing happens to everyone on occasion.  Maybe the make and model didn't help: I've never liked Remingtons and prefer the BaByliss 7647U because it's very easy to use.

Start with a high setting and reduce it one notch at a time until you are happy with the length.  Repeat this process for the area under the nose, which usually requires a separate setting.  Write down the settings for next time.

You'll get the hand of it.  Just make sure that the silver arrow on the comb-guard's dial is lined up with the groove/marker above the dial before you begin to adjust the setting; otherwise, the numbers will not correspond with the intended lengths.

Leonardo, why don't you try a beard trimmer?

 That's what I have, sorry, I wasn't more specific:

http://uk.remington-europe.com/men/grooming/beard-trimmers/touch-control-beard-trimmer-mb4555-__6609.html

I bought it a couple of years ago, but I could never figure out how to use it properly. So I gave it to my dad, who now uses it regularly. Yesterday I wanted to give it another try and, to my surprise, I finally figured it out, I think.

I know it's not a complicated thing to use, but I'm a clumsy person, I'd always end up shaving too much, getting annoyed and shaving it all.
