I hate the ship boxes. If you don't know what I'm talking about, put in BD IV and go to where the Falcon takes off from Tatooine. Watch the Star Destroyers carefully and you'll see some weird brown areas. I hate those. They're in every shot of a ship.

These boxes were not in the original release VHS's, they're not in the SE's, and they're not in the original release DVD's from 2004. If they were in the original version, I could understand that, all the limits of technology could not erase them.

Those "boxes" are an artifact of the original effects, they've been there from day one. They're called "garbage mattes". I'm surprised you're seeing them in the Bluray, seeing as the blacks levels are f***ed up, you shouldn't be able to see them. Whereas you could've seen them in one of the VHS releases, as those releases were brightened to compensate for old crt sets.

Diagnosis: your tv is not properly calibrated.

Looking for link to SW 1976 trailer

Holst's "Mars" was used as a temp track for the actual movie, specifically the first shot of the Blockade Runner and the Star Destroyer, before John Williams composed any of his scores. I would guess the movie at that point was still at workprint stage.

"Winter" may not be easy to recognize like this, I suggest speeding up the video up to roughly 140% or 150%.

AFAIK, IIRC, all the releases of Snow White are not accurate to the original colors. The 1993 restored LD (first release) was somewhat mildly criticized by an old animator for having colors different than the ones they used (albeit nice alternative colors). The DVD and the BD are pretty similar. I've always wanted to find out how Snow White looked originally but the only hope may be a 16mm/35mm print transfer pre-restoration or a VHS recording from the 1980s, which probably would have faded anyway.

I may have something of interest to you. An infamous (at least between italian collectors) pirate vhs from 1991 that is apparently sourced from a 35 mm telecine, possibly from the 1980 re-release. The colors don't seem to match the dvds. It even has, though visibly inserted and in a different aspect ratio because they were from the Widescreen 1972 re-release, the original animation for the italian text that Disney animated in 1938.

Now, I should have two copies of this, both in the garage. Gotta dig them up some time...

EDIT: there used to be a couple of videos of it on youtube, but they've been taken down

Got Mac?

? Q: Why is Artemis only for Windows computers?

A: I'm most comfortable developing on PCs, but I want everyone to have fun with Artemis. Fans on the forums have been able to play Artemis on Macs using Wineskin. Unix guys have also had luck using Wine 1.3. In the future, I'll keep mobile devices in mind.

JEDIT:

Just saw the rest of the FAQ. 40 bucks?? Get outta here...

Another thing I think I noticed, in the scene where C-3PO and R2-D2 are in the death star hanger, across from the ship, I swear the image stretches up and widens ever so slightly. Check it out at 1:27:08 through 1:27:10. Again just something I hadn't caught before.

That's just what happens when you adjust the focus with an anamorphic lens. Watch: first the focus is on the stormtroopers in the background, then it switches to Threepio in the foreground.

You can see that sort of distortion in almost any movie, if you look for it.
