Last night I had my first foray into standup comedy. Or, to be more precise: I, together with three other people, put on a mess of a show made up of a couple of unrelated dumb skits and parody songs, and my contribution were a couple of bits I stole from Bill Cosby.
Italians are pretty much unfamiliar with the whole concept of pure standup comedy. What comes close is something they call "cabaret" (read, "bad hacky jokes and obnoxious characters") which in itself has very little to do with actual "cabaret". Or maybe "One Man Shows" which again do resemble standup but they're something else entirely. Really, a comedian alone on a stage telling jokes and bits for 30-60 minutes, like Seinfeld or Williams or Carlin or Prior or Dangerfield is something alien to the italian audience.

So I thought "I'll just bring a couple of bits I know and love, just to test the waters".

People loved the "Dentists" bit (from Cosby's "Himself"), they laughed the whole way through, but "Noah built an Ark" seemed to completely fly over the audience's heads. I swear you could almost hear crickets. Not only did it bomb horribly, but after the show was over, some retarded cunt stopped me just to tell me "You have offended MY Lord". .... Yuck!

I never mentioned downloads of any kind, if you go to the preservations section you'll find lots of information regarding the mono mix, it's been very well documented.

 ME: slowly learning accents. I can sort of tell certain sounds from others, i.e.  (I think) in Boston they pronounce "Bob" as "Bawb".

Mine is a low resolution shot of my mom going cross-eyed on purpose. She wanted to try it for the first time ever, I quickly captured the moment with a mobile phone.

Not exactly. To be precise, Brazil sucked major ass. And I say this while feeling sorry for them. It was like they weren't on the field at all.

My pop said they could've played one of our sucky regional teams and they still would've lost.

Now he's rooting for the Netherlands.

I don't claim to understand the kooky science behind it all, but apparently tinfoil on windows is supposed to act as a reflector, bouncing the light and heat that'd otherwise pour right on in back. As I've said, though, I haven't noticed any real heat reduction; perhaps I didn't apply the tinfoil right, or it's just too hot out for it to work well. 

 huh, never thought of that. But it sounds more likely that it'd work in a physics book rather than in real life, where many factors would prevent it from being a 100% efficient solution.

I really hope XM loses a fair amount of subscribers over this. It's already happening apparently.

But what about the show now? I wouldn't really blame Opie for keeping it going without Ant, but it just wouldn't be the same.

If Opie tells XM to fuck off, they should go the podcast route. Everybody's doing it anyway, and I'm sure they'd find sponsors.
