The all-purpose ART thread!

I took this photo last fall and uploaded it to Flickr yesterday evening:

Maple Leaves/Des feuilles d'érable

I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out. It was a hit on Flickr, too. It has already beaten out every other photo I have on Flickr in terms of favourites and views, and is the first of all my pictures to make it to 100 favourites (within 24 hours too).

 wow it's so RED!

Since I'm colorblind, I can't imagine how much more saturated this must look to people with normal color vision.

Fantasia (a WIP)
Time

Wow Poita, I'm speechless. For years I've dreamt of a proper preservation of Fantasia... Today you present this, with full Fantasound no less!

I keep pinching myself but I'm still awake, how is this possible?

Fantasia is one of my all time favorite movies, and seeing it finally get the treatment it deserves is an immense pleasure.

Thank you. I just wish I could be able to donate to the cause but alas, I'm strapped for cash.

I would also order the arrest of George Lucas  and have him tried using a jury of ot.com members.

If found guilty, I suggest he be sentenced to watch The Holiday Special on a loop for 24 hours straight.

I couldn't find the original clip, but I suppose this one's close enough.

Thanks buddy! Really glad to see you're OK enough to be here even if you're not completely healed. I know what it's like, I really do. Just tell me if it gets real bad and I'll remind you about what a great guy you are even if you don't always see it.

I know you'd do the same for me!

Thank you.

To quote Robin Williams (miss ya Mork! http://www.sherv.net/cm/emo/sad/sad-eyes-smiley-emoticon.gif),

Reality, what a concept!

Hard to imagine it's been four years since I first went down the path of oblivion, self deprecation and depression, but it has. And it has gotten worse.

But I'll stop bitching, now, cause this is hardly the thread for it.

GOUT DVD vs VHS
Time

You could get one of the preservations, Gout won't look good on an HDTV anyway. Looks decent on a crt, but that won't do anymore.

If you've been reading the forum for a while you have no doubt seen there are quite a few impressive fan preservation projects, with different sources, and results. There are even a couple, IIRC, that are actually GOUT-based and look impressive considering the source.

Weeping silently by myself. I have my ups and downs, like always, but each passing day is torture, and utterly, utterly meaningless. Every night I go to bed at 4am, and "wake up" at 11. I'm going slightly mad.

I don't love myself.

I can't.

Well anyone who can think kind thoughts about me is maybe a little crazy, but certainly worthy of love in return. I don't know much about you, but you seem to have a noble spirit and are not afraid to offer your friendship to a guy who doesn't really deserve it. I am honored to be your friend and think you have to be at least a little bit easier on yourself.

I mean, I don't know why you can't love yourself, but I certainly understand the feeling! I think I also know what you mean about the meaninglessness of life. I do not know why I am doing anything. I don't have a reason to live. I don't have close personal connections and I don't think I have a great expectation of the future, but in the end you might exist just to be able to share your empathy and understanding of life's pain with another during their time of need. I know you did that for me. I really want to do the same for you.

Hey thanks man. I appreciate it.

As I was writing that post in the politics thread, I realized I was saying "love yourself" and yet I myself can't seem to. It was no shock to me, but the realization made me really sad. If it wasn't almost 2AM I'd sing my heart out, like I usually do when I feel down.

Just to clarify, the meaninglessness of life doesn't bother me, I'm an atheist, and I've come to accept that.  Doesn't bother me in the least.

It's what I've done with mine that makes me want to hate myself, and I should, and I do. I've wasted it. I don't live, I vegetate. I'm a lazy imbecile, who's too lazy, and too scared to move on with his life. This is why I hate myself, because I know I'm the problem, and won't do anything that will change the situation.

not afraid to offer your friendship to a guy who doesn't really deserve it.

but you do deserve friendship. From what I've read, you sound like a totally normal person. I don't know how old you are, but you'll (hopefully) eventually detach yourself from your strict upbringing, and understand you're not a bad person.

I have a two part question.

1) How do you sign your name in each post - do you type it out each time, do you copy/paste, or do you have some advanced algorithm developed?

2) Why doesn't your signature match your username?

I'll hang up and listen to your answers.

You listen to sports radio, do you? Yuck-a-roo...

Open-Eyed Thinking (Exploring Uncomfortable Topics)
Time

... so many go to bed hungry in this nation, yet cat food is full of tuna! I can't help but think each time I go to the zoo and see those porpoises, crammed into those tiny tanks, what a waste that is. Butcher half of them now! That's hundreds of pounds of dolphin meat that can be fed to our cats, freeing up that tuna for our nation's hungry.
[...]

... so many are cold, shivering in the night, so I say, butcher those cats, skin them! Use their fur to keep hundreds warm!

Yay conformity, right?!

I guess I'm not really explaining myself right. I don't think everyone has to wear the same outfit, I'm just stating a fact: the closer people are in thinking and agreeing together the less friction there is.

But that will probably never happen again in the history of humanity. I call the law of entropy on this.

Europe was once like that. It was united under the christian faith.

"Christian" was a synonym of person, of man. Religion used to be the identity.

Nowadays, if you ignore Italy, religion means almost nothing to the average European.
