<strong>The Cowclops Transfers (a.k.a. the PCM audio DVD's, Row47 set) Info and Feedback Thread</strong> (Released)
Time
That is almost right, PAL & Japanese NTSC is IRE0, USA NTSC is IRE 7.5 for 'black'.

BTW, IRE is really only relevant for analogue sources, as it is a measurement of voltage, for a digital source that adheres to REC-601
(such as DVD) you should refer to the setup level that NTSC uses which is code 16 for black and code 235 for white, assuming an 8bit source.

Info Wanted: Your Favorite OT Preservation Project And Why?
Time
Hey Rob, laserdisc players are cheap, you could just chain up five of them and a five way video switcher and switch between them with your remote when the disc ends :^)

I finally finished watching all of deleted magic last night, thanks again ocp, I really enjoyed it. Cutting the other footage and info in while the movie soundtrack continued to play was just genius. Great stuff.

Gotta say, the original ending it is deasd right that Luke's shot has very little impact, you feel he could go back and take another 20 runs at it until he got it right, whereas with the DS about to fire on the rebel base, it ramps the excitement up immeasurably.

Unfortunately the 'lost cut' with all the wordiness and lack of multiple tension lines feels a lot like the prequels..

Info: The 'complete' OT feedback thread. Put all the star wars glitches &amp; fixes in here.
Time
Yeah, I want people to post anything and everything in here. If people know about the problems then they can make their own minds up about what is to be fixed or not.
For me personally , archiving the laserdiscs is the most important first step, that means just removing dirt scratches and physical damage, and fixing colour abberations.
Don't take this thread as an indication of where the X0 project or any project is going, just as a repositry for all of the physical problems with the films, glitches, errors, and stuff that bugs you that perhaps could be fixed.
That way everyone can use it, wether doing a purists version or a Lucas style special edition, and it might encourage some folks to embark on their own projects, or at least find some kindred spirits.
I'll have a think about a classification system as well, probably not a bad idea.
In another week or so, I'll go back and start compiling it into a list of things for the fron tpage of the thread, and start attaching frame numbers and things as I work them out.

Help Wanted: Fan Edit of Episode I

If you really want to go the uncompressed route then you could rip the dvd with DVD decrypter, then use DVD Shrink and re-author and just select the 'Main Movie' and put it back out as a 'Hard Disk Folder' at no compression. (This will leave you with just the movie itself to worry about, no menus extras and what have you).
Untick the option to break it into 1GB files and you will end up with a single .VOB file of the enitre film.
(You may be able to use just DVD Shrink and bypass DVD Decrypter if you want)

Then You could load it into virtualdubmod as a single file and output it to huffyuv or a similar lossless codec.

You could then load it directly into any program that can edit .avi files , premiere included.
Save your edits back out using a lossless codec, and then you could re-encode the whole thing using CCE to get it on a dual layer disc.

ALl of the above is only if you want to go that way, you could use .d2v files as Karyudo mentioned, or use an Avid and edit the files directly.

Either way, the answer is yep you can do it on your PC with Premiere and a few free programs.

Head on over to doom9.org, it will literally have *all* your answers and more.

You could easily remove the rear window by tracking the scene and popping in a matched 3D element, or by hand painting.
This is all good stuff - keep 'em coming no matter how trivial or 'well known'.
I'm hoping that some of the more pedantic of you out there will start really looking for the little things, and start to catalogue it all.
Once we have a decent list of items, I will add a point form list to the front page of this thread so that we don't go over the same things.

Thanks Ishtar for the 'blue spot' spotting, and to Karyudo for the frame reference so we know exactly where it is.

It is not so much what 'I' want as to have a thread that is useful for anyone attempting a restoration project.
So even if you think it is obvious, post away!
But if possible, put up the laserdisc frame number as reference, or a 'tape counter' number if coming from VHS ( zero your counter the moment the 'original 20th Century fox' logo appears on screen). Screengrabs are always good too, as it is easy then to find the exact thing.
The more info the better really, but even if it some vague glitch you remember, pop it up here- someone else is bound to remember the specifics of it.
It is an easy way that anyone can contribute.

I'm hoping that all the people that 'wish they could' do their own project, or 'want to help out' with the various projects will get their critical eyeballs out and start listing the needed fixes here.
Many people liked the idea of the raw footage being released so they could give their feedback, but it is from the same source as all the other projects, just much higher quality, so can achoeve exactly the same thing by going through any of the available versions and posting your feedback here.
I am really looking forward to what the community comes back with.

If possible though, lets keep the thread on topic - discussion of suggested/required fixes to get the OT back into shape.
