Idea: a Dark Knight: IMAX Cut fan edit?
Time

Well, you don't *need* an HD capable system. I have a PS3 with a 20" Toshiba analog SDTV, and I've already stopped buying DVDs in favor of Blu-Rays. (Though to be fair, I've more or less stopped buying movies altogether in favor of converting my library-borrowed or Netflix-borrowed discs into MKVs that I can play with my Seagate FreeAgent Theater+ Media Player ... )

Point being, now that Blu-Ray players are at a decent price range, it's smarter now to buy a Blu-Ray player (which can still play SD DVD's) even if you don't have an HDTV, if only to future-proof yourself.

Sure, I guess, and if they show it on TV, somebody could DVR it and burn an unofficial copy and put it on a DVD and watch it on a PS3, right?

I don't see the point if you're going to the extra expense and not be equipped to actually tell the difference between the higher quality format and DVD. I can watch HD content now on my SD tvs. It doesn't look (or sound) any better than DVD. So yes, let's all buy the least popular gaming console so we can watch full frame BD on our regular TV's... :P

I hear what you're saying, but there's no such thing as "Future proof" in today's media world. BD is only 14% of the home market, but they're already planning to phase it out in favor of paid downloads (which frankly is one of the stupidest things ever, since people will just burn it to disc anyway, and that's after you've gotten everyone outfitted with fast enough internet service, plus large enough storage and burning equipment). The players are getting cheaper (cheaper than the PS3), but the discs are still way more expensive than they need to be (nevermind the blanks). The library is still limited to mostly new releases and a few major movies. DVD is still the standard and will be for some time to come, unless it's artifically forced out. The best way to do that would be to cut the prices. If they cost the same, people may trade up, even if they look the same (since most people still don't have optimum equipment).

Anyway, before this turns into an impassioned argument about why we should dream in HD, I'm going to just say I thought it would be cool to see the IMAX cut preserved on DVD.

Besides, I'm sure you could download a BR-rip of TDK that has the shifting aspect ratio intact (some people crop it all to 2.39:1, though I don't know why) and convert that to DVD format.

In any case, all I'm saying, it only takes one person to release it. That vs. everyone doing their own "do it yourself" work around (the original argument that it's easier to spend the cash on the equipment for the new system). The point is just to have the extra impact of the IMAX shot scenes integrated into a DVD cut of the movie.

The IMAX scenes are on the two-disc standard DVD as extras, just not integrated into the film.

That's what I mean. If people bother to integrate "deleted scenes" into standard cuts of DVD movies that are already out there (so-called "extended edits") then this seems like a natural enough thing to do. They would just be replacing existing footage of those scenes in the standard ratio to the higher image resolution ("taller") ones.

The Phantom Menace -Theatrical Version - NTSC DVD- ADYWAN - NOW AVAILABLE
Time

I didn't make any changes to the files I downloaded (thought the problem was ONLY that the subtitles had to be turned on manually with the remote), which frankly didn't bother me that much).

I don't know if the fix was applied to the files on megaupload (which were scavanged from tehparadox). How would I find out?

Thanks for working on the problem guys. I might be able to access an XP computer at the library when it opens tomorrow, but I don't know how much I can do in the way of installing new programs and editing, etc. they might frown upon that sort of thing, so I'd much rather download a fixed file. Sadly it's just 2k and linux here.

STAR WARS: EP IV 2004 REVISITED ADYWAN *1080p HD VERSION NOW IN PRODUCTION
Time

Oddly enough I'm getting cyclical redundancy checks (on the NTSC DVD9), so it looks like I need to grab it again.

Does anyone have working links to the rapidshare/megaupload versions?

The SOLE file I'm missing is VTS_51_1.VOB (aprox 0.96 gb).

It's the first part of the movie itself, and the stupid "Cyclical Redundancy" error is preventing it from being copied. :(

Anyone help?

So far so good. Love the SL version and can't wait to see the DL version!

I still would have trimmed the "fight" between the twins that results in the cracked wall a bit more, but I'm not missing any of their old scenes. I did kindof miss the intro of the "RCs" with the holographic biker chicks and I still hate the "leg humping" decepticon (and him groaning "say my name, say my name!"... ugh), but oh well. Much tighter movie! I think this is close to replacing the Big Screen edition for when I view this film...

So I'm curious to see the list of changes that adywan made to the sources he had...

The "changes" cited on other pages indicate the podrace lap two would have been trimmed, a reaction shot of Watto to Sebulba's performance added, the air taxi scene deleted (replaced by establishing shot), and one shot in the senate would be replaced. I presume then the soundtrack would be "better" and the picture quality improved... is that all (for his edit)?

Regarding the subtitle issues, here is how it works for me:

In the menu the subtitles are automatically turned "on." If I choose "off" (or "on") in the menu the movie starts from the beginning with full subtitles on for everything.

Using my remote I can toggle between three options (subtitles 1/2, 2/2 and "off"). 1/2 appears to just be full subtitles for all dialog. 2/2 appears to be nothing for anyone (I thought it was supposed to JUST be subtitles for the alien languages). How do I fix that?

The Real Effing Deal version is available now in a single layer DVD.

The Kitten Calendar will be available on blu-ray in 2-3 days (25 GB takes forever to upload!)

This computer doesn't have windows on it, so I'm not ready to try to get it yet, but is there both a DL and SL version of real effing deal up? Thanks.

In the special edition of the Dark Knight DVD, the second disc has the set of larger resolution IMAX scenes.

Could these be integrated into a cut of the movie (Revenge of the Fallen “Big Screen Edition” Style) as a single fan edit?

Seems like the sort of thing somebody would try which is why I’m surprised nobody has yet!

Speaking of IMAX cuts, I think it would be cool if somebody edited Episode II: Attack of the Clones to reflect the cut that was shown in IMAX theaters (superior to the official dvd cut).

Does this mean a DVD version? Somebody shoot me the links, either way. ;)

PS: Watched my "Big Screen Edition" DVD for the first time not long ago. The extra IMAX footage was cool (the whole point of these movies was robot fighting, after all), but awfully short (not so jarring as people said, but I imagine the effect was much more annoying in theaters).

One thing about the IMAX footage though is it means one more shot of the "decepticon balls" (though far less "in your face," pardon the pun).

The deleted scenes were CRAP... just more lame comedy bits. I'm glad they were left out!

"Alert my Star Destroyer to prepare for my arrival." What was the point?

For the 2004 Editions the Vader lines from the OT were all "re-modulated" or "cleaned up" to sound the same. Not sure if the 97 line addition was also cleaned up or not, but it clashes at least with how we "know" Vader's voice in ESB proper.

This might explain the difference. And yes, that's JEJ in Episode III. The only part that isn't, supposedly, is where he says "Yes Master," (after "can you hear me," as featured in all those trailers before the movie came out) which is supposed to be Hayden Christiansen's voice heavily modified (ironically, it sounded to me more like Liam Neeson, who of course had his "force voice over" modified in Episode II.. where he says "Anakin, Anakin" which is from Episode I, and then "Nooooo!" which is somebody else trying to do an impression of his voice).
