Star Wars DVD Covers
Time
Excellent cover Papa Vader. I've always loved the work of Dave Dorman. That Vader coming out of the fire pic would make an excellent cover if done right. It's always been a favorite of mine. I can't wait to see the full cover and the ones for Empire and Jedi. The Vader could use a little work. It doesn't quite mesh with the rest of the image. Perhaps one more like the first version with him staring off in the opposite direction as Luke might work. I can't quite place my finger on it.

I got to see some of those in action at the Episode III premiere. They looked great, and are very original. My complaint with them though is that the blades are a bit thin and the orange tip all but ruins the look. Still, the handles are sweet, and the removability of the blade is a nice feature.

Superb, absolutely superb. ^_^

Though it should have ended with

So, now that the movie is over,
would you say that the prequel

I hope you'll be able to get the NTSC version, because you'll have to reencode the video and resample/reencode the audio otherwise, and although it's all digital I'd prefer it if everyone got "same generation" copies.

Four more copies went out this week. There's a padded envelope crisis developing here so the final four (ReverendBeastly, KlingonJedi, Rebel11_38, Hurin) will be next week hopefully. If any of you decide to get it via another member before then, please let me know so I can cross you off the list.

Ahh, I was wondering about that. Mail can be odd in Modesto. I must've missed the previous update. ^_^

I definitely look forward to seeing how you've done this. Though it will be a bit awkward sitting through a partial SE. I'll do my best not to let it influence me. Though I may skip most of the Yavin battle.

Well, he IS the Dark Lord of the Dance...

Hmmm....maybe we can finally revive that Darth Vader musical. Only this time, we'd be reviving Riverdance as well. Star Wars and Riverdance.....at least it would be better than Light Magic. ^_^

Why is it that the Sith...
Time
If memory serves, Kun used the dark side and the special abilities of the Massassi to keep himself alive within the stones of the temples.

Palpatine projected his spirit into a clone body upon his death.

The Sith have their ways it would appear. I still remember Obiwan saying he couldn't appear to Luke any more in Heir to the Empire. I've forgotten the reason though.

Interesting analogy MBJ. I'd say that hit it on the head. Though I think it was the self sacrifice that clenched immortality for Anakin.

Ideas: I've been gone for some time now...
Time
Welcome back Obi-wonton.

I must say that this talk of Maul as Grievious is rather interesting. I too have often thought that it would've been a great idea if executed properly. Grievious was a pretty much worthless character in ROTS. THe only reason he was there was to kidnap Palpatine and lure Obi-wan off Coruscant. Having him as Maul adds a connection to the previous film. You no longer need wonder who the heck this guy is. You know full well, and their battle becomes Obi vs Maul II, The Rematch. I think it would make things a lot more personal, and really make their fight more interesting.

Truly chilling photo GreenCapt. ^_^ Can you do one with the full mask? Maybe add something of the tattoo pattern to it as well?

Ideas for a Star Wars Episode Zero
Time
Interesting, but I don't really see where you're going with this. If Yoda and Sidious were pupils together, wouldn't Yoda then know that Palpatine was a Sith Lord from Day One? It kind of destroys most of the central plot of the prequels.

This goes against just about everything established on the subject. Episode 7 is a tad better, but could use a lot more fleshing out.

Kevin Smith interview in Rolling Stone on fans - Couldn't have said it better myself...
Time
Yes, let's just generalize things and say that if you don't like the prequels, it's obviously your fault. Yes, let's assume that everyone who hates them hates them for the same reason. That's a gross oversimplifacation. I think I'll have to agree with my fellow Macrossworlder Hurin. People like/hate them for different reasons. Saying that those who hated them had their standards too high or so is rather nuts. Besides, isn't it the film you're putting down when you say fans are disappointed when they didn't get great movies?

Personally, I like the prequels. I don't love them, nor do I watch them as much as the originals(which I don't watch as much as I used to), but I like them enough to own and enjoy them. They're not without their faults, but I didn't go in expecting Casablanca. basically, as long as they meshed with the EU(which they do mostly) I'm happy.

Besides, was it really too much to ask that they be fun to watch? Smith seems to imply that we should be happy we got anything at all. You mean to say we have to be children in order to fully enjoy these films?

In the SE and 04 version when Lando takes Han and Co to the banquet hall to meet Vader, there's a big bay window in the first shot walking toward the room and it vanishes in all subsequent shots.
I've completed the effects to add the window into all but one of the shots and I just can't get the last one to look right.
It's the wide angle shot where the stormtroopers first file in, I just can't seem to get it to look right.
Seeing as painting things into frame seems a bit more up your alley than mine, maybe you would be able to add the window to that last shot. I could email you the rest of the shots if you wanted, to save you the work on them.

If not, oh well, the error has come to George's attention and they're fixing it for the next release, anyway.

Are you referring to Bespin's new magical reverting windows? You mean George and crew just now noticed that? Personally, I never liked them in the first place. i should be focusing on Lando, not some elevator.

Personally, I still don't see how that line changes anything, even with ROTS. Vader learned of Luke after the BoY. This insinuates that he's hiding this knowledge from the Emperor, and I don't see the point. With ROTS, it goes like how I said above. "Search your feelings, I lied." One wonders why Vader didn't lash out there, or at least ask why.

Not to mention the line reading by McDeirmid was awful. I can't stand that "YEEESSSSSSSS". It comes off as a, "Why didn't I think of that" moment instead of the, "Interesting suggestion" of the original, "Yess......yes". It just felt totally out of character.
