Definutly. Other examples.

Godzilla

Godzilla (Devlin/Emmelich version) = G.I.N.O. = Godzilla In Name Only. Movie was more like a remake of "The Beast From 20,000 Fathoms", which should have been named thus. The real Godzilla is nothing like the horror that Devlin made.

A response to the "They're His Movies" arguement
Time
^
Case in point: The Devil took Him to Jerusalem, to the highest point of the Temple and said, "If you are the Son of God, jump off! For the scriptures say, 'He orders His angels to protect you. And they will hold you with their hands to keep you from striking your foot on a stone.'" Jesus responded, "The Scriptures also state, 'Do not put the Lord your God to the test.'" Matthew 4:5-7 or Luke 4:9-12.

There is no actual verse that states Satan knows scripture, although from the above demonstrates he is very well acquainted and versed, and will twist the Word to lead many astray. However, the key is to understand, based on the above, that Lucifer masquerades himself as an angel of light (2 Corinthians 11:14), and that you should always test the spirits to see whether they (or the message) are from God (1 John 4:1-3).

Now, back on topic. What exactly were we talking about?

BOBA FETT WAS LUKE'S MOM?
Time
MH had been quoted in Time Magazine and Starlog (circa 1983) at being somewhat disappointed at the direction ROTJ went.

(Paraphrasing)

1. MH would have liked Luke to turn to the darkside temporarily.
2. MH was surprised when GL tried to top "Luke, I am your father" with "Leia is my sister." MH made a comment about Luke pursuing the princess only to finally discover Leia ends up being his sister was disturbing. When MH asked GL whether this was a joke, GL replied that GL always envisioned Luke and Leia being siblings.

Yeah right!

Yes. I agree, and it's stated in the documentaries in the DVD. William Goldman and Rob Reiner demonstrated a true partnership in this project. Goldman had Andre the Giant in mind for the role of Fezzik.

In the documentary, Rob Reiner mentioned that mob wiseguy approached him at a restaurant and said to Reiner, "You killed my father. Prepare to die."

Gotta love it.

The Princess Bride is a movie that will be timeless for all generations.

Info: Amazing Stories, Issue 605 November 2004 - Jay quotes...
Time

Quoted in Amazing Stories, Issue 605 November 2004, “Star Wars comes home. The Classic Trilogy on DVD at Last” by Daniel Wallace:

“Getting the originals on DVD is about preservation,” argues Jay Sylvester, organizer of a petition that hopes to convince Lucasfilm to eventually releast the theatrical versions. So far his website, ww.originaltrilogy.com, has logged more than sixty thousand signatures. “I’ve never disputed Lucas’s right to change these films. I just hope someday he recognizes Star Wars is a permanent part of our culture, and it deserves to be preserved in its original form.”

James Greene agrees, noting that the trilogy couldn’t have been made without the work of “hundreds of talented people both on and off camera. Some of the changes that have been made to the films negate the hard work these people put into the trilogy. Besides,” he says “Greedo firing first makes such sens as Oswald acting alone.”

So far, Lucasfilm hasn’t announced any plans to relase the theatrical versions on DVD, and George Lucas has been cool on the concept when questioned in interviews. Even nostalgic holdouts might conclude that the current relese is the best presentation of the films likely to appear in the DVD format for the foreseeable future. Jay Sylvester admits that he’ll eventually buy a used copy, if only to check out the changes.
