Transformers The Movie: Resparked (Released)
Time
it's good to actually be able to use it for something other than pasting my friends heads on half-naked clown bodies.

You can never get tired of that. The cover looks amazing. Any chance of getting a better view of the the back?

Please please please try and remove the LP end song. I know it's only a first pass edit but i'd love to see it removed / replaced. One suggestion would be the Black lab cover of the original movie theme from the 80's. although the vocals aren't that much better than LP.

Yeah I don't want things to get too confusing. It's only a setup for the main story but it is fairly legthy.

@ Mattmahdi
Nothing major, mostly crossfading of chapters and they moved soem things around early on. That just makes my work a little harder.

@ Ben_Danger
I agree. I don't expect the show to be all that good but I'm still looking forward to checking it out. At worst it would be fanedit fodder. I don't like the idea that it may contradict events from this [2d] series. We may well get more revisionist history lessons from Uncle George. I'm hoping for the best but fearing for the worst.

- In terms of cleanup take a close look at Dooku's cloak and you'll see what i mean.
- What do people think of the flashback blue tint? not too ovr the top?
- I WILL try to get some video clips online sometime soon - once i'm satisfied with the look.

Hey, since adywan is using some type of upconverted HD source to make ESB, will the final DVD be played in a standard DVD player, or some type of Blue Ray player? Good suggestions so far, and I think Yoda looks great in the trailer........if Adywan's goal is to make the PT and OT match up better. Peace!

Then he has a lot of work color correcting Episodes I-III to make Yoda look like he does in ESB.

In The Phantom Menace he appears more a mottled brown colour than green.

I think a main issue of ESB is all the tinkering with dialogue and sound effects, I don't mind the saber effects etc. I would have been happy with Morrison as Bobba Fett IF he'd put a little effort into it, He definitely sounds like he couldn't care less. I'd also love to see original dialogie restored especailly Vader's shuttle comment.

Okay, It's Valentines day so why not 'share the love' with updates? For anyone still interested in this thing.

I've been working away at this a fair bit lately. Mostly the first 10 or so minutes as well as a few other main parts and the ending.

Before I show some screens of where I am currently at, Please keep in mind that NOTHING you see here is final until you see it [eventually] in motion. Consider these as notes and revision for the final exam.

SPOILERS BE HERE

To kick things off i just wasn't satisfied with the 'A long time ago....' title card. The lettering seems somewhat Anorexic to me and a sickly shade of blue. Maybe it's just me but I could hardly bear looking at it - I also wanted to steer it closer to style of the cartoon itself...So I made my own. In addition to that i decided to have the logo receed a little rather than just sit there, Give it a bit of life.

http://img530.imageshack.us/img530/9196/alongblueii9.jpg

- I haven't used any 'star wars' fonts at all but I am sticking to the same font for everything to keep it neat and simple. [it's called Tunga] The title card lettering is the same as the subtitles and the end credits and the main crawl.

http://img254.imageshack.us/img254/9021/subs1qs7.jpg

After a while another Idea struck me...

http://img502.imageshack.us/img502/8862/gloweyes1bp4.jpg

As you may be aware I decided to lift the whole introduction of Ventress from the storyline since 1) It halts the main story and 2) She seems to track down Anakin a little too soon for my tastes. I'd seen some fan films where there were introductory scenes wedged between the titlecard and the main titles and really liked the idea. After a lot of shuffling I decided to show the introduction of Ventress BEFORE the main titles so as not to interupt the main story later on.

But that wasn't quite enough, In order to keep it interesting I decided to have the 'present time' setting being the duel in the penthouse and feature the Arena introduction in 3 major flashbacks throughout. this idea worked better than i epected and helped me avoid some editing hassles. An example is where Ventress brings the column down to crush Dooku, in one shot they have blades crossed and in the very next shot - the very next frame, they are standing about 8 feet apart from each other.

http://img526.imageshack.us/img526/7787/flamageeg9.jpg

The flashbacks would be in black and white and the 'present' would be in full colour. after a while I decided to add a blue tint to the flashbacks since pure black and white looked a little flat. It also helps to give a somewhat cold feel.

http://img89.imageshack.us/img89/74/alongwhitekd7.jpg

So we kick off with a new titlecard which [the text] then fades to white. then blackness. I was trying to find a good way to start the scene while I was rewatching clone Wars and noticed a shot that starts with a closed curtain that is pulled back as Dooku walks into the viewing box. hmmm, change the pink curtain to black. That will do nicely.

http://img526.imageshack.us/img526/9949/curtain1xb9.jpg

http://img512.imageshack.us/img512/2610/curtain2ox1.jpg

Another Idea I wanted to try was to start of in black and white but then introduce colour unexpectedly - the glow of lightsaber blades. This was definitely an inspiration i drew from watching Sin City.

http://img99.imageshack.us/img99/2460/sabers1ji3.jpg

Apart from a whole range of minor visual corrections and tweaks the olny other major thing to tackle was to give the hologram you see more of a blue tint, more like the movies. It probably seems pretty simple but it's taken a lot of work just to get it to that point. there are a few other minor ideas i've considered which I may go back and do. It depends how satisfied I feel with the overall outcome.

http://img182.imageshack.us/img182/8241/holo2mo5.jpg

The real pain here is the audio, Since it's only in 2.0 I can't really separate the dialogue from everything else - If anyone can help me in this area i'd be very grateful.

I'm still undecided as toi how i will go from the end of the intro to the main titles. I am thinking of either
- fade in the starfield background
- wipe to the starfield back ground
- cut to black ala LOST. and then after a moment cut in with the main titles. this is probably most inline with the movies.

MAIN TITLES

As far as the main title sequence goes I've got the whole thing done rough But I still can't decide if I should show footage within the lettering ala any of the Bonus disc main menu titles...

I figure I have 8 seconds - that counts the logo fading out. What scnes would people think would be apropriate to show? The last test shot I did had the main logo with footage from chapter 1 and then the whole logo turns solid yellow before fading out. It looked okay but i'm still not too sure. I may try going from yellow outline with black interior to footage interior to solid yellow. Or possibly footage interior to black interior. 8 seconds is not a lot of time though.

Once again unable to find the star wars logo in good quality I created my own based off a vector image I found. I found this Necessary as I've never found a single fontthat accurately recreates the logo letters properly. anyone else?

MUUNILIST

I don't really have anything to show for this yet but mainly I'm recutting it all so that the ARC mission and Obiwan's ground assault + Durge encounter paly out side by side. Rather than showing seperate parts of the same battle at separate times. Also without pausing for the Ventress intro it should all flow a lot smoother.

I'm really not sure what I want to do with Kitt Fisto's underwater assault right now.

I'll try to post more soon - Remember guys, Comments welcome. - If you see something wrong it's a good bet I already know about it but it's hard to spot everything with the same pair of eyes.

oh, and the other major change I'm looking at is cropping the image - or at least using black bars, this is twofold, to feel more like the movies and also to hide some visual nasties. So if you don't understand a change i've made it's quite possibly for a technical reason more than a story reason.

Remember - Nothing is final!

Official: 'THE CLONE WARS' movie in Theaters 8/15/08
Time
Hmmm...

there was a lot of speculation but I guess this makes it official. It definitely smells like a money grab. I wonder whyt it's still so far off thought, They were bragging that they had completed the first handful of episodes months ago.

I'll definitely check out the show when it materialises but i'm not holding out much hope.

I think part of the problem is it feels like a retread, A) we've already seen the resolution of the war now B) the 2d series pretty much spanned the period between aotc and rots, how can this show possibly co-exist without stepping on canon toes?

well it was a season opener that delivered i guess. I agree it's on par with some of the better stuff and after a weak third season the show might become as good as it was back at the start.

The death of naomi did seem a little silly. At least it will keep me entertained for 8 weeks worth of WGA strike

and personally I like the way he dies, there's nothing in the films to say he's 'the most amazing bounty hunter in the galaxy', he's just a bit better than the others or he got lucky.

agreed. NOTHING in the movies indicates he is such a great bounty hunter. So he managed to capture Han Solo? Yeah, with the aid of a sith lord and a few dozen imperial troops. Even Greedo managed to find Solo....

STAR WARS: EP IV 2004 REVISITED ADYWAN *1080p HD VERSION NOW IN PRODUCTION
Time
I can see the flames now

"...Yeah, but we only got the Adywan special release on dvd, That's not how I remember the movie when i first sat down and watched the movie 6 weeks ago..."

I'm starting to watch the movie proper now and I'm pretty impressed so far.

In regards to vader slicing through the door I have to agree that it just wouldn't seem likely. Surely he'd be able to unlock the door or override the controls. And looking at the bigger picture, remember that they wanted to track the falcon to the secret rebel base so at that point he was better off to just let them leave, send a few ties out after them and play the waiting game.

in regards to the severed flipper I have to say that the human hand is really looking good. In my mind it makes more sense and it's easy for the audience to instantly tell what it is and what has just happened. Something that is less clear with a flipper or wolf claw. that said the new hoof mockup does look good too.

"or here's a very, very quick composite of the human arm ( and yes i know its the wrong hand but i can't take a photo of my right hand until the wife gets home.)"
- I guess it's a good way to put in a cameo?

Maybe the 2008 dvd9 WILL have a 'few new surprises'?

Wow, The tie squadron reveal = goosebumps. I can't wait to watch this with friends just to see the looks on their faces.
