Dealing with People Selling Fan Projects
Time

You people crack me up. You F* around with copyrighted material then you cry when you see people selling the s*! Just stop, ok you make yourselves look stupid. Maybe if you made the “free” versions easier to get the masses out there would not resort to paying for them. Not to mention it might not be wise to keep brining undo attention to this site as well. I had no problem getting these but to your average non computer person its a pretty difficult task.

Blu-Ray and other HD box size STAR WARS covers
Time
The fronts look wonderful as there is nothing better for covers than original poster art. I like the spines and the leather look of the back. However I d not care for the synopsis as it look out of place. I think what really hurts it is the justification of the paragraphs. I think you have some nice WIP's but I would really consider playing around with the back middle area. But for the most part I like where this is headed.

(CLICK FOR FULL SIZE)   Here is the .psd for it: http://www.mediafire.com/?62845pw2l3ztygcThere are hidden "Episode IV" and "A New Hope" layers in the .psd, in case you wanted to have it. I had it there initially, but people in Harmy's thread didn't like it.   I'm still working on ESB at the moment, as I'm planning to experiment a bit with how an actual "Empire Strikes Back" logo will look on it. Other than that, it's pretty much also done, I guess.   (CLICK FOR FULL SIZE)   Your input is welcome.

Hey Harmy,

I just wanted to give you a standing ovataion for all your hard work. I just got through watching 2.1 and I must say that Star Wars has not looked as good since I saw it in 77 and 78 in the theater! I am really excited now for The Empire Strikes Back update! Keep up the great work and again thank you!

Disney Acquires LucasFilm for $4.05 billion, Episode 7 in 2015, 8 and 9 to Follow, New Film Every 2-3 Years

I am not sure why anyone really cares what Disney does with his films and any future films. All I care about is that the OUT is released in 1080. Aside from that they can do what they want, the legacy is already ruined you cant mess it up anymore than it currently is. Just give us the OUT!!!

I can't speak for him but I think he is doing the theatrical version which he has said many times.

Yeah Troyig88 I know, which is why I find a change like this a little strange to say the least, not to mention introducing problems with continuety.

At face value it seems very unlike Harmy, that has always put the utmost importance in reproducing the theatrical release as accurately as possible. Were the stars that bright during the scroll in the theatrical release? Is there a source that suggests that they were? I'm not old enough to have seen the theatrical release in the cinemas so I have no idea whatsoever. I'm pretty sure they're not that bright in the GOUT and they're definately not in the blu-ray either. It'd be nice to hear from Harmy why he decided that the stars needed to be brightened so much.

Even if you had seen the film in 77/78 in the theater like I did there is no way you would remember how bright the stars were....

Speak for yourself. What a presumptuous statement. Please turn down the ego just a bit. I saw the movie in theater DOZENS of times , and yes the stars were very bright and visible.

Really? Give me a break! There is NOW WAY THAT ANY OF US can remember exactly how bright the starrs were in a film from 33 years ago! No way in HELL! I saw the film 34 times in the theater from May 25th 1977 all the way through July of 1978 and I can honestly say there is no way I can remember what they looked like back then!

You must not be a very big fan then. This movie was such a moving experience some of us can remember small details down to what we had to eat during the movie and yes, even how bright and awe inspiring the star fields were that helped make the movie iconic.

I couldn't care in the least if you can't remember shit, but don't make blanket statements that assume that everybody is as dense as you are.

Lets put it this way..if you say you can remember EXACTLY how bright the stars were from the film as we saw it in its first run from memory then yes I will call you or anyone else who makes that claim a liar!

How is adding assets to the trilogy an attempt to convince people to love/like the prequels? There is a difference between accepting the prequels as part of the saga, and convince people to love them. That's why I keep asking for a source from your assumtion, because that's what it is.

What are you, a star wars lawyer?

He's been stalking me and quoting my posts for a few days. It's probably best to ignore him, as it's clear he hasn't made an effort to understand a very simple point demonstrated by Lucas putting prequel content in the originals, focusing the movie names on "episode #" rather than main title, etc.

I could very well ask this guy to prove that George Lucas only wants people to accept the prequels as part of the saga instead of liking them as much as the originals. Could he prove it? Nope. Hopefully this poster stops spamming the thread with his redundant, illogical statements and petty squabbling over semantics.

That's because he is Beast.

Curious question; what are the proper dimensions to print out the BD covers? When I load them to photoshop they come out gigantic. I tried taking them to Kinko's and Officemax and the same thing. They told me I had to pay an extra $7 to cover poster printing! LOL! Would really appreciate the help.

Harmy, I do have to thank you for putting all the time and effort on these releases! I've been getting a kick out of watching the OT in HD!

10.65 Width

5.867 Height

that will ensure it is side to side with no gap.

What was the "fatal flaw" of the Prequels if you think they sucked? (aka. Let's take a break from hating on the blu-rays)
Time
The problem is that we never see anything on the screen of importance! Do we see Anakin training with Obi Wan? Nope all we ever hear are strories about what happended. There is no "bonding" with these two. We never feel they were ever really friends just in the same way there is no chemistry/love between Anakin or Padme......how can you care about people who clearly don't care about each other!

I remember the 97 SE fondly, but it had more to do with the experience of seeing it in the theater after all those years.

I agree with ^. It was a great experience at the time, but really the SEs suck.

For me the 1999-2002 time frame killed Star Wars - terrible films and terrible EU at the same time. A partial resurrection followed with the two KOTOR games, but ROTS came along and essentially nuked the franchise from orbit.

These blu-rays are essentially Lucas desecrating Star War's corpse.

For me the OT died with the SE's. Lucas fucked them up right off the bat. Then along come the PT. TPM started out pretty good (still the best of the PT crap). Take out Midichlorians and Jar Jar then give Maul a litttle backstroy and more screen time you might have a decent film. Then along came Clones the biggest piece of shit to every come down the Star WARS pipeline. We all walked out of the film going what the fuck was that we just saw? It sure was not a SW film! I knew then the ROTS would have to be the best SW film made to pull the trilogy out of the mud. Sadly ROTS was only a little better than Clones (it suffers from the same problems as clones).

I don't think that's the point though. I'm still hugely excited to have a big nice blu-ray boxset of the Star Wars films with 3 discs of special featues. But I'm a features hound. If they just sold the features for 90 bucks I'd probably buy it.

3 Dics of special features that could not include the two biggest behind the scenes documentaries. Deleted scenes that we have seen before like the Biggs stuff has been out there for years and the more recent luke constructing his light saber scene that lucas claims was shot all those years ago. We have already seen that too....90 bucks for some half assed extras? If you wait about three months you will be able to pick up this set in the 40-50 dollar range.

I don't think we'll ever see "From Star Wars to Jedi"...it contradicts Lucas' current vision too much. It's a damn shame too...

I do have a version on DVD...one of my supplemental LD discs from back in the day. I believe it is from "Rowman"...

Empire of Dreams is also fantastic...and an unbelievable omission from this set.

If the alleged changes are true...I really think the old man is starting to lose it...or he is literally trying to give the finger to the people that prefer the UOT...

Reading the various forums and blogs...it is amazing to read some of the post from the die hard's that bow to Lucas. Some are even saying that that the new Vader line in ROTJ "bridges the two trilogies together", etc.

Sad stuff...

Sadly he is not only trying to wipe away a 20 year history, but also wipe aaway some people that had a lot to do with the success of teh OT! I bet we don't see Gary Kurtz or Marcia Lucas anywhere in these extras! Not like she won an academy award for editing or anything...oh wait..err...

Watching DJ's ROTJ tonight!!!!!

The trolls over at blu-ray.com are now on a serious mission to get me banned. Some have informed the moderators that i ahve been offering 720 fan edit rips of the blu-rays over there and have been promoting my work also. None of these things i have done. Hell, i haven't even got a 720p version of my Revisited edits to offer anyone, so it shows they are just blowing smoke out of their asses. You can bet its the usual suspects there. I find it funny that, because i have mentioned the blu-ray rips and most people have only the 720p versions, that they thinks that this is what i have and thought it would be a good excuse to try and say that i am offering edits of the blu-ray rips., well sorry guys, my copies are 1080p and i certainly have no intention of doing any edits of the blu-rays apart from using parts as a base for my revisited edits.

Does not suprise me one bit.....still trying to figure out why I was banned for doing the same thing as Kenkarly (or whatever his name is). Beast is either a Mod or a second account of one because those pro PT guys harldy ever get banned or suspended.
