I posted a review of the Panasonic DMR-ES10's excellent comb filter here: http://forum.lddb.com/viewtopic.php?p=33347#p33347

Enjoy!

How comparable is this machine, hardware wise, to mine?

I don't know, actually. I can't find the service manual for yours.

Not even elektrotanya.com has it and they have everything!

I have my manual.  If you tell me what I'm looking for I'll gladly post the info ....  :)

Laserdisc digital audio question

I'd like to - while I don't hold it in the same esteem as Khan, I do like the Motion Picture a lot. It's had an interesting release pattern, what with all the director's edition business and all, but a strong theatrical release could be made from the current Blu-ray together with the digital stereo from the 1991 laserdisc: http://www.lddb.com/laserdisc/11219/LV8858-2WS/Star-Trek-I:-The-Motion-Picture-%281979%29

While I have the Blu, I don't have that laser. Let me investigate further...

Maybe there is a Star Trek analog audio project that needs to happen.  Outside of the original crew movies I have Generations, First Contact, and Insurrection on LD.  I believe the release you linked to was part of the 25th anniversary set which I have.

I also have this version of ST IV ...

I'm very excited about the possibility of having this audio for everyone to enjoy.  I also have DTS theater audio for Generations, First Contact, Insurrection, and Nemesis as well.

I can't wait to see where this all goes.

These are the other Star Trek LD's I have .....

Generations

First Contact

So, is Conexant CX23881 bad?

No, it's a good chip and the TV2000XP Expert is a good card.

I just don't know if it has an excellent comb filter. I'd love to do some testing with you to determine if it does.

All I know is that it's described as an adaptive filter.  Drop me a pm and I'll send you my e-mail so I can get those images you're talking about.

Cheers

Since I'm unfamiliar with testing things proper like I'd probably need some guidance .... a nurse maid even, to try and get you some answers .... but I would consider trying.

:)

Awesome. What timezone are you in? I'd like to set a time for us to chat.

I'm in the U.S., Central Time Zone.

I found this .....

That question came up in the letters page of the Marvel comic, as they wore their original movie outfits for three years. ;)

If there's a bathroom on the Falcon, there must be a washing machine or some sort. Although since Leia only had one outfit, that must have been awkward.

Are you implying Wookiees smell bad?

Maybe Chewie licks himself like a cat does so he doesn't need but a monthly shakedown with a hose ..... LOL

The only thing I have that might be similar is a SIMA Color Corrector Pro-Series unit and I have yet to figure out how to properly insert and use it in the chain for video capture.  It may not even be worth the effort if it's not a solid machine.

I know it works as I've tested it briefly but other than that, I'm still learning.

Ghostbusters - Criterion PCM Track (see Jonno's post; plus lots more info) (Released)

Is anyone actually in a position to do this? I have the tech (just about) but not the disc. And no-one's selling in the UK at present, sadly.

I have the LD.  I have an external soundcard, EMU 0202 USB.  Apparently it does not resample the audio.

If I could get some direction on how to connect it properly so that I could do the capture I'd certainly take a whack at it.

LV_426, (Prometheus fanedit) (Released)
Time

I have to add a few things as I didn't realize what I had until I watched it alone and with my full attention.

I love what I saw and it was my first time seeing it all the way through unhindered.  What I did notice and was a little disappointing though not heavily distracting was stuttering video in places, a drop in volume in some places due to separate sources probably, and brief spaces where I'm guessing cuts or additions were made.  Some of the glitches may well be due to compression/processing but that's just a guess.

As a whole, it was VERY cool.  I appreciate your hard work and thank you for the chance to see it this way first.

:)
