I like the over-the-topness of it. Especially the "Shut up" from Wonder Woman every five seconds...LOL.

Have you heard about his Holy Terror, Batman! project? It's basically a Batman vs Al Queda propaganda piece.

Austin Powers 4

Part one was great and Part 2 was frickin' awesome. Part 3 was entertaining, but to me it just was not as good as the two previous movies. Now, if there is a part 4, will Dr. Evil be re-implemented as the main bad guy or will Seth Green carry on with that duty?

Mike Myers Interview

I agree with you up 'till part 3. I thought it was pure dreg. Utterly terrible. The first was very good, though I didn't really appreciate it until I saw it on home video - "Swedish P#nis Enlargers and Me: This Sort of Thing IS My Bag, Baby by Austin Danger Powers". Part 2 was hilarious "Baby! The other OTHER white meat! BABY...it's what's for dinner!". LOL

Ah, yes. She is definitely nice to look at. I met her once at a convention where I live. She is HUGE. I swear she was taller than me, and I'm 5'11". Of course it could have been the shoes she was wearing, but still!

No, she will not be in these to my knowledge. She and the producers had a very public falling out over her decision to not return for the 5th season, which is why Tracy Scoggins was called in as Lochley (not as good an actress, but even better looking, IMO). Not sure if they've patched things up, but I don't believe she'll be welcomed back with open arms.

OK, I saw it again last night, and I've modified my opinion on this.

1. The movie is gouge out my own eyes boring at times. Especially in the middle.
2. I agree with Chaltab, too many kids making stupid comments.
3. Waaaay too convenient that Venom landed 20 feet away from Peter.
4. God, if someone at the college level did what those idiots in the back of Peter did they'd: a.) Get their asses beat b.) Get kicked out of class
5. Gwenn Stacy was nice to look at but annoying.
6. The whole venom storyline got shortchanged.
7. Venom did not look mean enough at times (though I thought Topher Grace played it well).
8. Emo Peter went on too long. I'd rather get waterboarded than go through that jazz club scene again.
9. The "reporter" at the end just, again, makes me want to rip my ears off. Her accent was terrible. Sounded like Jude Law, which means she sounds like she just crawled out of a gutter in the rankest part of downtown London.
10. No exposition about Venom or why the sound waves work. Comics fans know why, but the average person doesn't.
11. Kirsten Dunst's acting.
12. Kirsten Dunst's acting.

OK...I only saw the original movie in 2002. I was amazed that people were still talking about it 3 years after it came out so I finally gave it a shot. Well, it blew me away. I loved the blend of techno/philosophical aspects of it, as well as the effects and the overall story. Couldn't wait for the next two.

The second one rolls around and I was even more blown away (with the exception of the dancing scene, GOD). My friends and I talked about it for days.

THEN...the THIRD one came out. *GACK* - still choking on my own bile regarding that one. What a let down!

Does anyone else feel cheated by this trilogy?

B5 was a series that ran in syndication and on the PTEN tv network (it was around for a few years in the early 90's). Eventually it finished it's run on TNT. It's a self-contained, 5-year story arc. Stuff that happens in the first season will pay off in other seasons, including the last one. It's a running narrative, and is very different from say, Star Trek in that the "reset" button is not used at the end of an episode to make everything ok again. The creator/writer/producer was never afraid to drop characters down an elevator shaft, figuratively speaking, when he wanted to. Characters move on, change, and die.

Here's a pretty good overview:

I'd say the episode that moved me the most (at least the first time I saw it) was the one where G'Kar was finally contemplating peace based on the attitudes of the dying Emperor. The ending of that episode was haunting and my opinion of G'Kar had completely turned around.

Otherwise, there are always those other big, epic episodes that always pop into my mind. That episode where G'Kar endures those lashes from that deadly whip was fantastic. Eh, too many episodes of this show were great for me to pick from them easily. I agree that Londo and G'Kar were the real stars of the series though.

The one where G'Kar was lashed was pretty good, though with that show it's kinda like picking my favorite ice cream. They're all good! I will say the most difficult to watch is the last one, Sleeping In Light. Very sad, yet somehow redeeming. It hurts more now that I've been married for several years. I can't look at John and Delenn in that ep without breaking down.

I never saw Legend of the Rangers or that show that sort of followed B5 on cable. I had never even seen the fifth season until about two years ago (on DVD). I just loved the show from the first day the pilot episode aired on TV. So different from Star Trek. Then the actual show was even better than the pilot episode. I followed each new episode religiously for four years (till it moved to cable TV). Good stuff.

Favorite characters/episodes?

Personally, I enjoyed Londo and his arc the most, especially the Fall of Centauri Prime storyline.

Wow, interesting timing. I was just thinking yesterday about how Babylon 5 is actually better than Star Wars now. It was kind of a shocking revelation to me.

Yeah, I'm really looking forward to this, especially after the travesty of Legend of the Rangers. Someone gave me the B5 movie collection on DVD this afternoon. Now I need seasons 4 & 5 to complete my set!

Interesting, JediSage, as I agree with you that the reporter was horribly irritating, but I thought the intercom scene was hilarious. I wouldn't say that J.K. Simmons was shortchanged. He had some great scenes, what with that one and him buying the camera from the little girl at the end.

Total agreement.

Yes, I did think the scene with the camera was good. I just still get the feeling that I got gipped on my J. Jonah fix this time around...

Saw it yesterday. I tend to agree with most that the evil Peter at the jazz bar was waaaay unnecessary, but on balance I thought the movie was well done. The dialog was campy at times, and I wanted to rip my own ears off when the reporter was "on the scene" as it were when the final battle was going down. Of all the actors I think Church and Franco were at the tops of their games. Franco definitely had a cool turn in this one.

Rosemary Harris and JK Simmons (Jameson) didn't seem to have as much face time. The schtick with Jameson and the intercom was another cringe-worthy scene that I just wanted to end, and it took one of the parts I most look forward to (Jameson on a tirade at the Bugle) and made it painful.

Kirsten Dunst has got to go in any sequels that may follow, and there will be more given the opening numbers. Bryce Dallas Howard was ok in what she was asked to do, which wasn't much, and James Cromwell should fire his agent. I was hoping for more of Cliff Robertson as Uncle Ben, as in the second one in Peter's dream sequence, which I thought was one of the most powerful scenes in any of the films.

I agree with Tip regarding the second one in terms of the personal drama and character development. The stuff Peter went through in the second one was very moving and I think has cemented that one as the best in the series.

At this point I'd have to say in terms of my preference it's 2, 3, then 1.
