Resolved.
Is anyone else seeing this problem? I'm seeing forum and topic markers when new content is posted.

This looks related to my post about www.originaltrilogy.com/forum not working.
That's exactly what it is.
By the way, none, the topic title can change and it won't hurt the functionality of the link. The software only looks at the forum/category/topic ID when pulling the data, and it's also smart enough to recognize when the topic title has changed from what's requested in the link and redirect the user to the proper URL. There's no need to truncate it. Actually, you hurt our search engine rankings by removing that text because keywords in the URL are a factor in page rank.
Check out this URL and how it redirects you to the proper page:
Give it a try, should work now.
They're not gone, it's a simple issue. Should have a fix posted shortly.
I'm looking into it. Not sure what's causing this.
Try refreshing your cache. I updated the style sheet to fix this issue last night, which I introduced trying to fix the image display issue posted in the bug forum.
I have a setting in the software that redirects requests for www.originaltrilogy.com to originaltrilogy.com, but something is broken, which is causing the infinite redirect loops. I turned it off until I can figure out what the problem is.

Lord V it's possibly a side effect of the forum upgrade,
"At least you're still in one piece! Look what happened to me!" (a few pages back)
Stop posting images with style="float: left;" in the tags. That's why they're all piling on top of each other. I'm going to put a filter in the editor so that crap won't make it through any more.
Now quit messing up my forum.
The reason for this is because the editor allowed a style tag to sneak through. I updated the skin to fix current posts and I'll change the editor's settings so that it won't happen again.
Thanks for the compliments. Moth3r and I will do our best to address everyone's concerns.
A big thanks to Moth3r for taking the reins on relocating all the fan project topics to their appropriate forums. I haven't contributed squat to that endeavor yet :)
Also, the site has been moved to a new server, so the avatar/photo upload functionality has been enabled. The nice thing now is that you don't need to resize your images prior to uploading; the software does it for you. The aspect ratio is maintained and borders are added to the top or bottom to fill in the blank space.

Yeah, I never thought of any of my stuff as being a "fan edit". Not that I have anything against fan edits, but when I first saw the new list of categories, I didn't know where to find preservations. Actually, I thought that the primary mission of OT.com was preservation, not fan edits.
I changed the forum titles slightly to make preservations easier to find seeing as they're fairly prominent and important.
While preservation of the OT was certainly our first mission, the proliferation and popularity of fan edits have kept this place alive and kept that early mission visible. And, as you mention, many projects don't fit under the category of "fan edits," so it was time to split the forums and let each category go in its own direction.

From what I've heard, the extended edition's scenes (added in via seamless branching) look fantastic, but the theatrical cut scenes have a lot of EE and DNR. (Gladiator, that is.)
Yup. There are many theories as to why this is, but the bottom line is that the extended scenes prove it can look much better than it does.
Very shameful for such a high profile title to be treated so shabbily.

I just finished watching "The Final Countdown", on Blu-ray. Was not overly impressed. Lots of blurry shots, and the stock footage stands out. But the BR disk is not a total wash up. The flying scenes did look great, and if you can find it at a low price...
It might be the best the film can look, which is all we can ask, really. I remember watching the DVD and thinking it was a pretty good transfer.
I haven't watched it myself yet, but based on screenshots I've seen and opinions of people I trust, it looks like Gladiator is subpar at best. Lots of EE and DNR. Very disappointing.

"Several topics for several bugs " is why I didn't post there because I didn't want to clutter things up with multiple threads. :p I can if you want, but might be faster/easier for you to just reply to my concerns in one post if you want. I'll defer to your judgment.
They're easier for me to track and for other users to see they've already been found. Please try to separate feature requests/opinions from actual bugs/errors.
Bug reports/feature requests/etc. in the proper forum, please. Separate topics for separate bugs. Include links to the topics you're talking about because I don't read everything that gets posted.
I'll be adding a switch that lets you turn user avatars on/off for forum and topic pages separately (the current setting is universal and shows/hides them everywhere).
Includes:
- Minor layout and navigational changes
- Avatar sizes increased to 100x100 pixels, but avatar uploads are disabled temporarily pending hosting upgrades
- A setting under preferences to disable the WYSIWYG post editor
- The ability to delete multiple private messages
- Other minor fixes and enhancements, mostly under the hood
We'll be playing with the category structure and moving lots of posts in the fan project sections, so please bear with us. It's going to take a while to sort through everything.
As always, please place all bug reports in the Bug Reports forum. You'll probably encounter minor layout issues (colors, font sizes, etc.), and while we'll be tweaking these issues, please feel free to post them so we don't miss anything.
doubleofive said:I'm excited about any changes! Any chance the ability to post from my iPod Touch is in this update? :-D
Actually, yes. You'll find a setting under preferences that will let you disable the post editor.
For the next update, I'm planning a toggle switch right next to the post editor so you can turn it on or off on the fly. This will allow you to leave it enabled by default, but let you turn it off temporarily if you're posting from a mobile device.
Found another big bug. How about one more day just for the hell of it?
Okay, one more day. I found some nonsense tonight while doing one last check. Hopefully this really is the last check.
Can you tell I'm feeling the pressure now? :)
Nobody died, thankfully.
I finished bug testing and I could've made the update tonight, but it was getting late, and since these things never go as planned, I probably would've been up until 4 in the morning troubleshooting :)
Tomorrow night should be the night. Don't expect major changes, though. This update is more about the admin functionality that will let us update the categories and reorganize things. While you will see some layout, navigation, and functionality changes, it won't be anything earth-shattering.
Ripplin said:I know this info is old, but still, the only big change I'm hoping for is concerning the deletion of PMs. Jay is already aware of it. :)
If this is regarding the ability to delete multiple PMs, that functionality will be in the next update, which is going live by this Sunday if it kills me.
Sorry, taking longer than I planned. Any day now...
I ran into a bit of a problem when I realized that I made a lot of changes to the database on my working version and that I'd need to make the same changes to the live version before I could upgrade it. I'll need an extra day or two to sort that out. Don't want to make a mess of things in there :)
I'm planning on a software update this Sunday or Monday that will allow us to make these changes.
