Something like this already exists - specifically, someone took the higher resolution PAL DVD9 video track (720x576), changed the framerate flag to 23.976fps, and muxed in the NTSC DVD9 Dolby Digital 5.1 audio track into an MKV.

It’s the best video quality available (highest resolution) combined with the best audio quality available (no PAL speedup) without any reencoding done to either track. I know it’s uploaded on MySpleen and has been shared elsewhere as well.

I did not know this! Sadly, I’ve no myspleen account, so if anyone else cam share for others I’m sure that would be appreciated. If not, I’d be happy to share, though as Ash said, probably not the highest quality version.

But very interested in the Adywan 1080p ESB respecialized 1997 edit, in addition to the highest quality edit of ROTJ that has both victory celebration and the Sebastian Shaw ghost (I’m sorry, I must be one of the few fans who loved Jedi before 1997 but have not missed yub nub one bit). I was pretty young then - maybe that’s why.

So far I’d say the winner is dillary trump’s 1997 edit - though I have recently acquired kk650’s semi specialised too, yet to watch start to finish.

I would also be interested in the HDTV versions (any and all).

I have recently started (or thought about is more the word - trying to source the best versions of all I can find first) something similar, and wanted to know how this project is going?

I was tempted to include a fun disc: the fanedits (e.g adywan,s, forceghostrecon).

Fairly new to the site, and already amazed by the community and how helpful people have been. I have found the Despecialized editions (part of the reason for my browsing), and everyone has been very kind.

I grew up watching the originals, but was young enough when the 1997 edition cam out I did like some changes (I actually have no love loss for yub nub, but please don’t hate me for it 😄).

Okay, I have searched and searched for this, but am unable to locate it. Any chance anyone could help me out?
Big fan of these. My favourite edits have to be despecialized or Hal9000’s custom SE (can’t wait for ROTJ), but my nostalgia brain is desperate for a link to this.
