Wal-Mart gets Star Wars bonus disc for ROTS
Time
And regarding the Bonus discs being packaged with FS-- couldn't someone just take both up to the service desk and explain that "Since you don't have the WS with the bonus disc, you're gonna go ahead and open this 2-pack, and you're going to give me the disc with the WS, mmmkay, thanks."? Or if they don't do that, suggest that after you purchase the 2-pack, you can go to the return desk, and they could just take back the FS as a return? Maybe? I don't know.

Good GOD, man, are you MAD!!!!????? Have you ever tried to explain even the simplest of scenarios or gotten the tiniest bit of information out of a Wal Mart employee lately? LOL!

Seriously, though... nine times out of ten, when they do the pack in deals, the bar codes on the DVD's have an indication that they are not for sale seperately.

Has anyone now second guessed the prequels

Firstly, Adam... your sig pic is making me want to kill myself. Seriously.... TOO BIG!

Second...

Take the famous "Nooooooooo!!!!!!!" from ROTS. I ask everyone, do you honestly think that it is any better than Lukes "Noooooo!!!!!!" in ESB?

This is the first time where I will disagree with you 200%. While I have made it clear that I think that everyone is entitled to their own opinions, I have to say that if you think that the Vader "jazz hands" scene from ROTS (the one scene that made me almost want to crawl under my seat in the theater the first time out) is on par with Luke's agony at the revelation that Vader is his father in EMPIRE, you are one tiny step away from delusion. Hell, I would go out on a limb and say that that is one of the best acted moments in the entire Original Trilogy! I know a lot of people like to parody it, but all I know is that every time I watch it, I feel Luke's pain reflected up on that screen. When I watch ol' Frankenvader in ROTS, I can't help but feel the urge to revert to my childhood mantra of "LALALALALALALALALALA, I'M NOT LISTENING TO YOU!". Good Lord... that scene seriously derailed a train that was at that point CHARGING down the tracks full steam. One of the biggest misteps in the entire Prequel Trilogy in my opinion.

I know that lately Sam's Club (and WM to a lesser degree) has been only placing the bonus pack in's with the Fool Screen editions. I complained about it and the general consensus at the front desk was... "Huh?". I plan on writing a letter to WM corporate about it. Not that it will do any good. The sad truth is that WM cares a lot more about their Nascar customers* than they do about their DVD buyers.

*This is not meant to slight Nascar fans as a whole since I know some of you here follow the sport. But I think you know what I mean.

Star Wars: The Interactive Video Board Game (1996, Parker) (* unfinished project *)

I am in the same boat as Beastly. I know I have it somewhere at my Mother's house. But it is in a storage room that is about the equavilant of the warehouse at the end of Raiders. I will look again tonight. If I do find it I will need someone with the ability to cap it as I don't have a very good set up. Menus and all of that jazz I am good at. Sourcing the audio and video... not so much.

Go through a jacked up divorce with kids involved after you have been cheated on and lied to for four years and then come talk to me.

Has anyone now second guessed the prequels

Seeing the story of Anakin was to be the single greatest joy I could behold when I first heard Lucas' plans for the prequel trilogy back in '97. Vader being my favorite character, of course I was fascinated by the prospect of seeing his transformation realized on screen. After seeing the prequels laid out over the past six years... I am just totally and completely underwhelmed. But again, this is just my opinion. I'm not saying that they are "bad" films. Just saying that what I thought and hoped I was going to see, I didn't. But I can't fault Lucas for that. He has his vision and I guess I had mine. And when it comes to Star Wars, for good or bad, it is his vision that sticks at the end of the day. (Where it sticks, again, is open to everyone's personal opinion.)

Personally, I like it when I hear that people enjoy the prequels. It is our differences in opinion that make give us all something to talk about.

And the debate rages on. Personally (and I have not found a discussion which disproves this theory) I think it is a generational thing.

I was five years old when I saw Empire for the first time and hearing Darth Vader say those words to Luke... the impact that had on me cannot even be put into words. The relation that I felt in conjunction to my own relationship with my father (notice the lower case "f") was VERY powerful. And there it is again. It is a personal choice how one sees these films and for anyone to say that anyone else's decision to watch them front to back or sideways and out of order is wrong is just silly and bull headed. I know my fair share of purists who will argue until they are blue in the face in order to try and sway a prequel lover's opinion. And that door swings both ways as far as Lucas boosters who don't understand HOW anyone could not see the films the way that George sees them (at any given moment).

I think the best way to settle it (and this works out for those who want us all to love the films as George sees them as well) is to go at the films the way that George does. Let your indecision regarding either saga flow in whatever direction it needs to at any given moment. It is perfectly fine to love the prequels one moment and hate them the next. I bet Lucas feels the same way about these films at this point. As much as he loves them, there is that bug that will eat at him until the day he dies that he didn't get every little bit of it just the way that he wanted. And he changes his mind about how he sees things every day. I listen to the film commentaries of every DVD I purchase. And I don't know how many times I have heard film makers talk about how if they could go back and change this or that in their film, they would. Some of these changes are things that they wanted to do at the time they were making the film and budgets or producers wouldn't let them. And others are changes that the passage of time have brought to their creative eye. The only difference between those film makers and George Lucas is that he OWNS these films. He can change any thing he wants any time he wants for as long as he wants. McCallum was even joking about this at CIII. How he has a re-accuring nightmare that he gets a phone call in the middle of the night when he is 80 and it's George's daughter saying that George is looking for sound elements from one of the episodes so that he can make another change. So I say we should all just roll with it. The guy is going to tinker with these flicks until he becomes one with the Force anyway. So why not let our opinions on them change with time as well?

These movies are so close to most of our hearts that I would equate them to being a member of our families. And Lord knows... I bicker with my siblings ALL the time. It's OK. I guess that means that Episode I is my brother who refuses to listen and leaves his crap all over the house and that Episode II would be the brother that tries so damn hard to be liked, but in the end just comes off looking like a kiss ass all the time. Episode III is my sister who started out looking as if she was going to be a HUGE success, but kind of slipped in her journey and now has settled into a comfortable life as a Mother and wife. Not too shabby, but what could have been will always loom like a shadow. Now, Episode IV would be my sister who ....

GOD THIS IS FRIGHTENING ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thassalottatracks! I was just talking in another thread about how nice it would be to have a disc put out that had all of the varied tracks on it. But I also recognized the fact that said edition would have to seriously sacrifice video quality in order to do so. Beastly said that MeBeJedi had been working on one but ended up letting it go as the amount of tracks out there begin to multiply past what was technically realistic. (My God, are there really that many different tracks out there??)

I would say that for your disc, since you have obviously put so much time and effort into the video process, that you might want to think about ditching one of the audio tracks. Perhaps the 5.1 (since you will have a PCM on there).

Also, if you aren't stuck on "motion" menus, perhaps you can just make some really snazzy still ones. It would save more room.

All of this is, of course, taking into consideration that you do end up trying to fit the DTS track in there as well. I think it would be outstanding if done correctly. But obviously seriously pushing the limits of what even a dual layered disc could handle. Perhaps you should take a poll of what people would rather see (motion menus, DTS track, 5.1, etc.), if you are interested in everyone's opinions on it. Personally, seeing everything you have listed as far as what you have done visually... I am inclined to say that listening to a DTS track (done right) while watching those images would make me forgive the fact that there was no fancy menu screens or optional 5.1 sound. Besides, at this point I kind of thought everyone had DTS capabilities (and chose wisely to USE them).

Yeah sure. If you like fool-screen.

Crap, that's a good point. Lately they have been only puting the bonus discs in with the Fool Screen editions (at least here in Hicksville, USA). Guess I might have to do a pre-order. Just to be safe. If I end up getting a better price in store (which is usually the case with Wal Mart B&M's) I can always just get a price adjustment at the CS desk (though that entails dealing with WM employees, which might not be worth saving the extra couple of bucks ).

In any event, hope this pans out to be more than just a crappy pack in targeted at the SW fan who must have everything.

Romero is the numero uno when it comes to zombies. I, for one, would love to see this once sega is done with it. Though something tells me that sooner or later Anchor Bay will obtain the rights to both Night and (eventually) Land... and we will get seventeen box sets over the span of about twenty years that will explore and re-explore all four films ad-nausium. Seriously... do those guys ever stop re-re-re-re-re-releasing a film once they get the rights to it?

OK, I'll shut up now and get ready to pick up my "Book of the Dead II" edition of Evil Dead II here in a week. Oh, and did you hear about the "Cabin Version" (or whatever they want to end up calling it) of the original Evil Dead that is coming out soon? It is going to include a special feature about the Ladies of Evil Dead that was filmed at the recent Flashback Horror Weekend in Chicago (which I attended). Kind of jazzed about that.

(Am I off topic enough yet?)

Anyway, sega... I look forward to your release. And thank you as always for all of your great work here.

I also love DEAD movies, the Evil Dead trilogy is my favorite. Just check my signature.

Yeah, I noticed that they other day. Heheh.

Info: Does Anyone Have The Old Original Theater Bootleg '77 Tape? (Released)
Time
What would really be great would be a dual layered disc with all of the different mixes represented. Picture quality could take a back seat to a nice representation to the many varied sound mixes that have popped up throughout the years.

Does anyone here have all of the different mixes? I know I was reading one of the threads a few days back where someone was mentioning that they had uncompressed PCM tracks on disc of some of the mixes, but I don't remember if it was all of them.

I think this would be a great release.
