fanedit sellers are to be banned. They are what destroys the fanedit reputation and might cause legal problems to every other faneditor and to the website hosting them. Fanedit sellers are bootleggers.
You have a rule for that.
What good is a rule if it isn't followed?

Then of course OCP is a well respected member here, so maybe rules don't apply for him in a way they do for others.

I participate in a great deal of live music trading and just recently discovered the fanedit world. What makes collecting and enjoying these things are the hunt and the creative skill that goes into the artwork and the cut or the mix. people invest time into these projects because they love the project and the original product be a song or a movie. I have a very strong respect for the creative arts and would never wish to step on them on purpose.

I asked him about his releases and when I saw that he was charging for more than just the disc and the price of mailling it, I ended communications with him.

My feeling is it's a rule - it can be a time limit punishment - since he is a respected member. But over all if exceptions are started then exceptions will be expected.

Idea: for trading - sort of a PIF system...
Time

Hello-
I don’t know if this has been brought up as an idea before or not, but here goes.

I am a member of a couple of trading circles that trade in live recordings of music. One of the things done to trade is create a vine.
Usually there are two copies that start with the originator. One goes to people in the us and the other goes to the rest of the world (ROTW)
Anyway, a vine is offered and people sign up, then it starts, it is mailed from person to person. each person copies it and sends it to the next. The last person on the vine keeps the disc.

This is a great way to faciliate trades and for people who can not find the things they are looking for, they can request or just wait for a vine to be started.

a typical vine sign up looks like this:

US
1.
2.
3.
4.
5.

etc.

ROTW
1.
2.
3.
4.

user name and e-mail address, then when you get it, you e-mail, get the snail mail addy and send it off.

just an idea from another trading circle.
