Info Wanted: Has someone preserved THE SANTA CLAUSE laserdisc?

Most of the ones available at ebay are cheap AND have a BIN price so there's no need to bid. I guess they don't know what they have or they'd charge more....

Info Wanted: Has someone preserved THE SANTA CLAUSE laserdisc?
Time

That’s right, has someone out there preserved it? It has a scene that was completely edited out of the DVD release. It’s the scene where Laura gives Scott her mother’s number and he says “1-800-SPANK-ME? I know that number…” Alternatively, there’s also the TV edit where they had changed the number to 1-800-POUND. Maybe if this hasn’t been done before someone’s willing to take the chance? The 1995 widescreen laserdisc is unedited…

MAJOR UPDATE:

The 6 read-along books have all been TRANSFERED! I'm going to test cleaning away the low -level crackle left and then try to boost the rest, but I can tell you that these transfers are ABOVE and BEYOND the originals I did. A good case in point is that I could actually hear the old Chinese lady in the first shop Randal Peltzer visits say "OK" in the background as soon as he says "I'm looking for something interesting to give my son." And the sound world that has been created makes these as compelling as the movie...which is saying ALOT! ThrowgnCpr will be getting the CD I'll be burning him of these sometime in the near future. If I find a moment of freedom, I'll put up a sampler of the audio for you all out there.

STAR WARS: EP IV 2004 REVISITED ADYWAN *1080p HD VERSION NOW IN PRODUCTION
Time
Ady,

The fact is you've really slaved over this work. Seriously. I'm just researching and compiling things for the MEGA MADNESS - THE ULTIMATE GREMLINS COMPANION project that ThrowgnCpr and I are doing yet I'm spending LOADS of time, effort AND pouring money into it. That's probably just scratching the surface of what you've done for this...and are choosing to continue on with the rest of the SW films! I do hope that no one from this OR FE's forum is part of the individuals that are hiding behind the big bad internet so they can take out their childish fanboy hatred on you. If it's one thing I can't stand, it's people who aren't man enough to tell me face to face what kind of problem they have with me.

And to those possible Ady-haters out there lurking like the chicken-dung trolls you are.................

BEWARE!

Johnny Ringo,

Thanks for your opinion! I hope others out there will also take a look at the drawing and share their opinions, too.

MAJOR UPDATE:

I have received each of the following NEW & SEALED:

http://i5.ebayimg.com/07/i/000/ea/40/e96d_1.JPG

I've transfered the first one already (the one with the movie still on the cover). The INTERESTING thing to note is that it is made by the same company that made the rest for Hardee's! It is basically a summary of the other five WITH A DIFFERENCE; there are different narration here and there, alternative dialog AND it is the only one to include the attack on Billy's mother by the Gremlins! Needless to say, a true find for these. And the best part about these being NEW & SEALED (until opened, of course) is that the records will make for easier digital clean-up than my original, used copies. I can already hear a difference in the crackle (much less) and there are NO clicks to deal with, which really helps out ESCAPE FROM THE GREMLINS.

Fine forum members...this project continues to GROW in more ways than you can imagine!

Meet Mogturmen, the inventor of the Mogwai species (thumbnail image for this board, click on the link below it for the FULL image)

http://www.imgplace.com/image_bin/2738/67908d0d3fe0323e9065902eb4222766.jpg

It's a rough 1st draft picture, but I feel it's a step in the right direction so far as explaining the creation and mythology surrounding the Mogwai and their rather sinister counterparts whenever the rules are broken.

What do you think?

This is the only laserdisc I found on ebay which does not have the 1990 Universal logo on it, so it SHOULD be what you are looking for (the text graphics scream 1980's). It's got a BUY IT NOW option. Hope this helps you.

UPDATE:

After almost 3 solid months of "wheeling and dealing" I am soon to get a complete NEW & SEALED Gremlins Hardee's record set! Since the records will be UPLAYED, this will mean we get the HIGHEST quality on the audio transfer. I'm also in discussions with my brother-in-law to do some illustrations for the GREMLINS novel opening. Things are DEFINITELY looking on the up and up!

Clown Travel Agency not what it seems...
Time
I've been visiting http://clowntravelagency.com since it's been up for a while back since there was mention of it being a possible site for a newer trailer for THE DARK KNIGHT. The departure date was supposed to be the 1st of April, but every day I've checked there's been nothing.

UNTIL TODAY.

You see, it's an APRIL FOOLS JOKE! While moving the mouse around, I noticed I could click on the part of the "departure date" envelope that is used to seal it. And sure enough, by clicking on it you eventually get this message:

Ready to have a Ball?

A special bag of fun awaits the first to claim it, but you better strike fast, there's no time to spare!

Then you click and get some animation going and you eventually read this:

Good Job, Clowns!

You've proven that you're kingpin material, so I've got a job that's right up your alley.

Head over to http://www.acmesecuritysystems.com/delos and see if you can disable a certain alarm system for me.

Be sure not to use a phony email address.
It'll be ok?. I promise.

Rubber Darthies, you're the ones....that makes lava baths lots of fun!

A long time ago in a bath far, far away the Duck Side (or Dark Side in a Scottish accent) lurked, or possibly bobbed, though that doesn't sound quite as threatening somehow.

Ominously glowing in the duck, sorry dark, Duck Fader is 'eider' the Evil Lord, or far more likely just a ludicrous glowing bath toy (he 'muscovy' something like that anyway).

So next time you find yourself attracted to the bathside, make sure that you have Duck Fader to guide you. With his glowing eyes and ominous helmet he's the epitome of an evil fowl, the icon of demonic duck lovers, the... that's really quite enough of that. He bobs, he glows and he's a complete hoot, or possibly honk.

Features

* A bath toy from the dark side, Duck Fader.
* Made of rubber.
* Suitable for ages 3 years+.
* Size: 11 x 8.5 x 7.5cm.

Update:

I've had an idea for a music video for Peter Gabriel's OUT, OUT but I'll need to find a program that helps me capture stuff I'm doing in the windows I'm using on PC in an acceptable .mpeg quality. I'll then try my hand at making it myself but I'll have to see. With researching, work, dealing for desired items and such....I'm going short on free time. If anyone out there has tips/suggestions then I'm willing to listen!

I'm still looking for someone who's able to do some handdrawn artworkfor the "origin of the species" (which I refered to in an earlier post) from the novilatiztion for the first film. Also looking for someone who can vocally imitate Brain Gremlin from GREMLINS 2. Hell, I'd even accept tryouts from those of you brave enough!

Johnny Ringo,

It was actually the Panini sticker book for the original film, which was in UNUSED condition (the stickers were not stuck into the book) and came with the COMPLETE set of stickers. Sadly, I couldn't get the help to get it so it was won by someone else on ebay. I'm keeping an eye out for another in future, but it's not a huge loss in the long run as there really is a WEALTH of stuff to be had if one knows what stones to turn over.

I'm glad that this project is maintaining your interest and I really hope the final product will deliver as I hope it will. Time will ultimately tell, as it does in all things.

Kind Regards,

I've recently got:

- GREMLINS novelization by George Gipe (1st print, UK) ....here is where we find out the "origin of the species" and are also told why Gizmo is the way he is (a long story short; he's "1 in a 1,000")

- confirmation that the vintage 1984 commercial for the Hardee’s record set has been located and put into high quality suitable for DVD. It will be upped and sent to me ASAP.

So, the project moves forward again! I'm going to be compiling all the information concerning the origns, developement, production, release, reactions, tie-ins, and years since into essay form, which we will slowly but surely try to turn into a special documentary for this set. I'll try to be accurate as possible and I will be honest to mention if something is "rumored" or "part of the legend" so as not to present anything without basis as actual fact. I have some ideas at the moment about some special things I'd like to include, so I'll list them below:

1) Peter Gabriel's track OUT, OUT was definately released in the UK as a single. Can anyone out there tell me if there's a music video for this? I have his PLAY THE VIDEOS collection and he at least did not include it there if there is. Or is it possible that there's been a live performance of it? If not, I was curious if someone out there would be ambitious enough to create a music video for it? My idea would be that it would incorperate some animation aspects and clips from the movie itself.

2) GREMLINS...MEGA MADNESS was also released as a single. Same thing applies to this as what I listed above for OUT, OUT with a minor exception; it might require someone to be able to render and manipulate a CGI Gremlin (as closely believeable to the puppet design as possible). It might be TOO ambitious but a short test clip should prove if it works or not. The idea for the video itself can always be changed at any point, even if it means no CGI Gremlin.

3) Is there anyone out there good at imitating voices? You see, for the GREMLINS 2: THE NEW BATCH novilazation the Brain Gremlin takes over for a short chapter (to coincide where the movie scene with the film breaking in the middle and Hulk Hogan threatening the Gremlins). I thought it would be cool if someone can do a good-to-great imatation of Brain Gremlin (actually voiced by Tony Randall) then we could include this as well.

4) Is there anyone out there interested in doing some handdrawn artwork? The "origin of the species" which I refer to from the novilatiztion for the first film would be great to read aloud and I thought that if there where images it would work much better.

5) As for myself, besides the "essay" I'm going to try contacting Micheal Winslow to see if he'd agree to discuss his life and career as I'd like to do a mini-documentary called THE MAN OF 1,000 NOISES which would gave fans out there a nice background of the voice of our favorite Gremlin villian, Stripe (no...Frank Welkner DID NOT voice Stripe. He did, however, voice Mohawk for the second film).

Any/all who can help would be gratiously credited and a select few of them would be among the first to sample the set. Yes, I'm including those of you who have made suggestions and provided info I did not have already (see above posts as well as the future posts below this one).

Kind Regards,
