Special version of ANH opening for Imax
Time
Damn, I still wish this was in IMAX. I would love to go see it.

I saw AOTC in IMAX and the only part that I liked was the battle between Anakin (blue saber) and Dooku (red saber). Why? Because me and my best friend looked at each other and said "What does this remind you of?" It was the closest we were going to come to seeing something like Luke battle against Darth Vader on Cloud City. You could feel the hum of the saber flow under your seat as each twirled from frame to frame.

Dammit. For the 2007 release, Lucas should forget about that crappy "1950's drive-in 3D" movie, and just put the trilogy in IMAX. Of course it would be the 2004 CGI-fest, but I would be temped to see them in IMAX anyway.

What you're reading now: EU style
Time
I actually detest EU a great deal, and yet I have ventured into the realm of sin.

I picked up the book "Splinter of the minds eye" at my library yesterday and I'm going to read it this weekend.

The only reason I'm reading it is because I'm curious what it will say considering that it was writen in 1978 and takes a totally different turn than what happens during ESB. I just don't know how kinky things get between Luke and Leia on whatever planet that they are on.

I'm hoping that it turns out to be good read, even though the story is bunk now and it fell through the EU cracks.

I don't care one bit about the fate of prequel characters

However, I've yet to watch Clone Wars. Are they closer to being friends there?

Yeah. You should probably read Labyrinth of Evil or watch the Clone Wars series. In both, their relationship is portrayed in an OT-esque kind of way.

It's a shame that we have to read 2 or 3 books and rent additional video footage from blockbuster to understand their relationship, when it should have been obvious from the movies themselves.

Any GOOD memories of the PT?
Time
Yeah, the hype was the fun part. Not the movies. I have more fun remembering the fun that I thought I was going to have, than the disapointment that followed later.

'Tis better to have hyped and sucked than to have never have hyped at all.

-- I found a picture in my aunt's picture box of me and my best friend back in 10th grade while the two of us were on a weekend vacation. We are both wearing TPM shirts. Me with Obi-Wan battling sith, and she with a Pod racer shirt. *sigh* We were so young...

The only person I cared about was Obi-Wan. That was it. And a tear did roll down my cheek the first time I saw ROTS

reason #1 - I knew that this was the ONLY time in my life that I would cry at that scene, so I just said "To hell with it, I'll let myself cry, because Lord knows I'll be walking out of this theater pissed."

reason #2 - Obi-Wan's dialogue. His words were what made me sad. Not seeing Anakin burst into flames (I was more like, "oh, so that is how he got all scarred. Makes sense."

I couldn't care less about Anakin. I really couldn't. Most of the time, I just wanted to kick him. Obi-Wan was the only, ONLY rediemable character. He is the only freakin' character I gave a flying rat's ass about.

The rest of the PT cast...*shrug* Who were they again?

In the words of my father when he saw the movie, "In 1977, Star Wars was a jaw dropping movie that left me stunned. This time, I just kept looking at my watch wondering when it was going to be over."

Now when I talk about SW, I have to specify the old ones!
Time
Oh yes, the image quality is enough to orgasm over. I'm not disputing that. But putting in all that CGI where real live action models were fine, makes the movie look dated. And by that I mean, they look like they were tampered with in the late 90's. "Well, why would they do that," you ask. Well, because Lucas felt that the original looked too old. "But I never noticed," you say. Yeah, I know. You weren't aware that the film was made in the late 70's and early 80's because there was nothing there to tell you that really (aside from mat lines which are easily erased.)
But now that he changed them, you wonder why he did, and then you find out it was because he felt it looked to old, even though you never thought it did, but now you can't help but see it every time you watch the movie... Should have just left it well enough alone.

It's not like we saw people driving around in 1970's Buicks and Lucas has to "update" it and make the streets full of 2005 Nissan's and Fords. Because in 10 years, he'd just update it again and fill the city streets with 2015 model BMWs or something. It will never stop.

Lucas was still reworking the turn scene after post production!

Oh my God!! You too? I saw and thought the EXACT SAME THING when I was watching that documentary! Especially in the art room where George walks in and is looking at all the Mustifar artwork sheets, you can see the mousey little artists standing in a cluster thinking, "Please God, don't let him rip me a new one..."

All I know is that the "turn" scene can only improve from what was shown in the movie. "What have I done!? [pause] Okay, I'll do anything you ask."

What the living f*ck?! I waited god knows how many years to see that?

And Qui-Gon is totally useless. I've often wondered about that whole Obi-Wan/Maul encounter in that one picture.

Has GL ever seen the original movies? He must have seen it like this:
"...there you will learn from Yoda, the Jedi master who instructed me. Well, actually he instructed this guy named Dooku, who then taught this other guy named Qui-Gon, whom you don't know either, but anyway he then (that Qui-Gon guy) taught me. So yeah. Shut up Luke, just go see Yoda."

Obi-Wan: "When I first met your father, he was already a great pilot, but I was amazed at how strongly the force was with him. Well actually, I hated him and thought we were just picking up another pathetic lifeform, but Qui-Gon you know - that one guy, really wanted to bring him along. Anyway, I took it upon myself to train him as Jedi. Well, again, actually, Qui-Gon wanted to train him but he died, so I was kind of forced to because I promised I would considering the fact that he asked me to as he died in my arms..."

Luke: "Um, Ben...?"

Obi-Wan: "Shut up, Luke. Anyway, I thought I could instruct him just as well as Yoda. Which doesn't make a lot of sense, because he wasn't even my teacher to begin with, but there you go."

Tarkin: "Their fire has gone out in the universe. You my friend is all that is left of their religion. Oh yeah, that and the Emperor...."

Joss Whedon's Greedo Revenge
Time
I saw the first episode and I loved the premise, but the cinematography drove me nuts.

I like the dialogue and the whole idea behind the show, but the camera would cut away in the middle of people talking and there were way too many jump cuts in the middle of dialogue and then jump back. Stuff like that drove me nuts and I have a feeling that is what lead to it's downfall (not including the whole FOX screwing the show over thing, that they do to so many of their shows.) I think I'll go rent the movie.

Well, just like the real Ark, Lucas hides the Original Trilogy inside and anyone who tries to touch it dies by the hand of God. That's why we can't get access to it.

You people didn't know that the Ark was a real thing? Huh. Wow. More people should be required to take Sunday School or something.

Yeah, well I'm in the same boat with all ya'll. While on vacation my father looks at me and goes, "You're watching cartoons? How old are you again?" Yeah, thanks father. Thanks bunches. Just knock my friggen major why don't you. I'm 22 and I love cartoons more than any 12 year old. So what? Unlike my academic father, I haven't lost my child-like wonder.

(I'm not knocked my dad, I love him, but this is a man with 5 Masters degrees and gives me a hard time with my "child-like nerdyness.")

Who saw Lucas's speech at Peoples Choice Awards?
Time
I agree with him. The PT "Star Wars" hasn't won very many awards. Why? Well, because it sucked.

However, "Star Wars" from 1977 walked home with 7 oscars. Guess which boat that movie gets to float in with? That's right, "Casablanca," "Gone With the Wind," "Lawrence of Arabia," "Titanic," a whole plethora of outstanding acadamy award winning movies.

What did the PT win? That's right. Jack shit. It should have won a Raspberry award. I'm surprised it wasn't nominated.

BWAH HA HA HA!! He said, "For the fans!" Bwah ha ha haha!!!
