Lowest Priced OOT DVD Search.
Time
yeah, how exactly is that rebate going to work? The rebate form requests the e-mail confermation (which I have) plus the original packing slip.

HOWEVER, will there be 3 individual packing slips for each movie? Because you can't send in a copy of the ONE packing slip they sent you since each movie rebate must be done SEPERATLY.

I hope I'm not screwed out of $21 here, because I'll be pissed.

Steve Irwin DIED!!!!!!
Time
When I heard about the news my heart just broke in half. The dude that told me, I didn't believe him. I thought that he was just being an ass and I said, "So, what other childhood heroes of mine are going to die today? Bill Nye the Science Guy? Alton Brown?" I couldn't believe it. And then it was all over the news and the rest of my Labor day wasn't the same...

Steve Irwin - you made reptiles fun. You made conservation feel like a noble cause. And now you leave behind two children who will only know you through the hours and hours of film footage shot over the past 8 years.

Here's to you, man. You died doing what you loved. And we can only wish for the same fate.

Even Cosmo Magazine is Talking About the 09/12 Release...
Time
Bleah. Cosmo can suck my clit. They just generalize and assume that being female automatically exempts you from ever being a science fiction fan, and the only reason ANY girl would look at a Sci-Fi movie is for the "hot boyz". That the only way you are going to see this film is if you are snuggled up with your man after giving him head while he opens up the wrapper to his new Star Wars DVDs.

Fuck them, and fuck their stereo typing. If they ever ran into a girl that actually loved Science Fiction their whole company would explode in a paradoxial blast that would rip the universe a new one out of the sheer implausability of it all.

So, this is how the DVDs are going to look...

I don't care how grainy the movie looks. I grew up with the Laserdisks, and if these are even a fraction better quality than that, I'll be happy. I mean, good lord these movies were made 30 years ago. Of course we are going to notice the black boxes around the ships, and have 2.0 sound. It's how it was made.

I've pre-ordered them and I'm not looking back.

Star Wars - Secrets of the Rebellion!! Coming in 2008

I think this sounds very ambitious, and I like it. Hollywood does not a movie make....great. Since this is set with a shoe string budget and a lot of heart, I think this could capture the same romance that ANH did back when Lucas himself was working with a meager budget and cheep sets.

I anxiously await the first installment of this new series. Lucas has already proved that he is no longer capable of taking care of his own characters. He lost that privilage when he fucked up episodes I - III (and VI for some of you). I think this guys effort will yield great results and I for one want to support him.

Pirates of the Caribbean Two
Time
Well I saw the movie last night and it wasn't all that great (my cousins dragged me along for the ride; all I wanted was the ice cream). I found myself bored and looking at my watch during several points in the movie. Now, granted I wasn't that big a fan of the first film, but at least CotBP was funny. Johnny Depp's character is what made the movie fun. He was 50% flamboyant, 25% drunk, and 25% clueless, and that is what made it so funny.

But this movie? Bah. I found the plot to be a little hard to follow. So many things were going on at once that it just became white noise. Capt. Sparrow lost all of his charm and became more self centered. And I don't know where the infatuation with Swan came from. There really wasn't that much there in the first movie, so the second movie made me confused. Plus, I hate Swan now, the bitch. First she leaves her first fiance, and now apparently is drifting towards Jack and leaving Will behind... good lord. I really hated her walking out of the theater.

I felt no connection with these characters at all. Everyone could have died at the end and I wouldn't have batted an eye. It is as if the movie was constantly reminding me, "It's alright. You don't need to concern yourself with this." Disapointing to say the least.

And the connection between Will and his father felt more like a connection between a nephew and an Uncle, not to mention the fact that Bootstrap was the only crewmember that wasn't a CGI fish-monster. It kind of lost it's realism just having that starfish stuck to his face when everyone else were sharks and squids.

The first movie may not have been a hit with me, but it was still charming. This movie left me bored and frustrated.

Besides, during a Daily Planet meeting, Perry White even says 'is that a new suit?' and tells his Fashion editor to get on the story, which I thought was a nice touch. At least in this film we actually see Clark remove his clothes to reveal the suit ubderneath, instead of just 'fading' into it like in the old movies.

I thought Superman looked pretty damn cool in this film.

I like that the new suit looks more like a "superhero suit" rather than an underwear ad this time.

I don't know how girls could like either of them. They're both annoying and 'blah' at the same time. Johnny Depp really doesn't have anything going for him in the looks department (seriously, I could totally name 10 other guys better looking than him), and Orlando Bloom? *sigh* He's a cookie cutout pretty-boy. We had one in the late 90's called DeCaprio (and he really hasn't done much since). Bloom is just another fad and he just ain't doing it for me.

Thankfully Brandon Routh is hot so my summer isn't a total bust.

True, but Superman Returns has grossed a total of $244 million world wide (plus domestic.) I don't know what it is for Pirates, but I'm sure it is high too.

Sups is definantly going to make back the $250 million it cost to make. Superman Returns 2 here we come!! Woo! And I just love the new Superman suit. He looks more like a Superhero and not songbird.

A not so interesting PS note - I had a dream last night that I took my aunt to go see SR and it was the "edited version" and was missing about half the movie. I was soooooo pissed this morning when I woke up. But the thought of owning the DVD with the deleted scenes made my breakfast all that much tastier.

SUPERMAN RETURNS REVIEW

That "S" thing gets me every time. The first time I saw it was on Family Guy where Peter goes, "And for that mater, what's with the celophane S that Superman throws at the bad guys in Superman II? *scene goes to reenactment* *Sups rips off the S and tosses it at the Kryptonian and he screams and crumpls then the S disapears*
Bad guy: What was that?
Sups: Ha ha! Take that!
Bad guy: Yeah, no kidding. That was uh, that was mildly inconveniant.
Sups: Yeah you betcha'!
Bad guy: Yeah."

When I finally saw that scene I had to say that outloud.

EDIT: By the way, have any of you been to this website, Superdickery. It's basically a collection of why Superman is a dick. It is histarical. You should see it.

Oh no need to apologize, silly. I didn't even take the post as offensive. In fact, I should be the one apologizing. I harped on those two movies pretty hard with out really sitting down and looking at them for what charm they offer.

And I think that is where the films fail with me personally. I'm starting to see why people wouldn't think of SR as fondly as they would their 1978 and 1980 films. I saw Sups I and II after I saw SR so it just adds to the pile. Those films are very campy, but it turns out they were supposed to be. Ahhh...I see. I get it now.

SUPERMAN RETURNS REVIEW
Time
My dad rented Watership down when I was like 10. I watched it and was all like, "Damn! That movie had more blood in it than Jurassic Park!" I was an avid fan of JP.

And to answer mverta's question. I'm in the catagory that loved SR and I'm 23 years old. The first movie that I saw in the theater...I don't know. I've been going to movies for as along as I can remember.

And I know I must be from a totally different generation from those that loved Superman I and II because I just got done watching II and found myself amused but not all that thrilled with it. At one point I remember letting out a loud sigh during the scene where the 3 bad guys are blowing wind all over the streets. "Yes, I get it. Those guys can blow. Oh look, someone lost their wig. Oh and look some doofis is on rollerskates going backwards against the wind. Har har har. Can we please move on to the next scene please?"

I'm not saying Sups II was bad (I was laughing outloud at many parts) but it was too campy and kiddy for me. SR didn't have any of those Pee-Wee Herman elements and I liked it that way.

Oh and my superhero movies are (in no particular order): The X-Men Trilogy, Spiderman 1, Batman Begins, Superman Returns, and the Powerpuff Girl movie.

Yeah, there is another movie (Titanic). I never got that. It made like a bizzilian dollars and broke box office records and yet it wasn't like all that amazing. It was a love story on a famous ship. Okay. I mean, yeah I've seen it but all the hoopla was over DeCaprio. Oookay. And it is not like there is a following after this movie like there is with Star Wars. At least with Pirates, I can see that.

Sometimes I just don't understand how one movie can make a ton of money and another only gets pennys thrown at it.

This movie has made so much money, but I don't understand what the big draw is. I mean, was there really that much anticipation to see this film, or were people going to the theater because they didn't really have anything else to do (and other than SR there wasn't anything worth while playing in the theater)?

I mean, I saw the first movie but I wasn't all that impressed. I was at a sleep over with a friend 2 years ago when I saw it, but there you go. And this movie just seems to be raking in the fans but again...I must just not be into pirate movies or Johnny Depp. Same thing with Lord of the Rings. I saw the movies in the theater but that was it. I don't own the DVDs nor do I really care about Orlando Bloom.

Pirates and Wizards. Whatever.
