STAR WARS: EP V &quot;REVISITED EDITION&quot;<strong>ADYWAN</strong> - <strong>12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW</strong>
Time

"there is something i do need a little help with though. The scene where they walk down the steps (straight after they leave the landing platform) and through the corridor, for the SE they replaced the window at the end of the hallway with a new outside matte, but forgot to change it for every other shot. I have tried using the GOUT to replace the new matte to restore it to its pre-SE state. the problem is that there is so much wobble on the GOUT video that i can't use it. I have seen in the GOUT image stabilisation thread about running a script in avisynth but i really don't know where to start with that program would anyone be able to use that script to stabilise just that scene? Any help would be greatly appreciated."

May have missed this, but did this ever get answered, Ady?  I'm actually in the middle of rendering a lagarith copy of the ESB Gout run through G-Force's v4 script right now if you still need the sequence.

Yikes.  Okay, downgraded AVISynth to 2.5, re-upgraded, uninstalled all plugins, reinstalled plugins, uninstalled FFT from the system directory, reinstalled to the system directory and....it all seems to work now.  Wow, that was a bit of an ordeal.  Incidentally, has anyone tried EMPIRE with the subtitle lines intact in the script?  That still is causing trouble, so I've just removed the section and the script runs fine now.

Okay, had a little more time tonight to try and figure out where things were going wrong.  It looks like it's in whatever is being referenced in the local stabilization part of the script.  If I comment out all of that section (apart from the Source, Sigma, and Filt lines) the problem is gone.  Can someone give me a clue as to what needs to be replaced on my end in that case?  Various generations of MVTools didn't seem to solve the problem at all (tried .9, .9.9.1, and 1.4.4.4.1).  I installed the plugins as a single batch put together for this script, and I'm not sure what I'm looking for; MVTools of yet another version, MVAnalyse, RemoveGrain, Median1, or something else entirely?

As for Rejig, I also had trouble with it.  I went through IFOedit intially, which worked, but ended up putting the whole thing together at work in DVDLab Pro, as I also added a couple of original teasers, trailers, and the ISOMix score-only track and needed a new menu.

Weeellllll....I've just checked it out again, and it's not apparent in the GOUT.  I say apparent, as I keep almost thinking I'm seeing it, but can't quite decide if it's there or not.  I dropped the demuxed raw GOUT mpeg into Virtualdub, and checked out the shots I posted; no streaks evident.  Next, I dropped in the AVS script (v3.)17), and there they are again, same places.  Weird.  I'll post pics later.

Sure.  I'll put up a couple as it can be hard to see in stills.  These are off of the uncompressed, filtered AVI, and exported from Virtualdub.

I just grabbed these as an example, it occurs repeatedly throughout the film (ANH also) in several places.

Missing plugin, maybe?

On a different note, I'm assembling Empire now.  Has anyone noticed an occasional diagonal (high left to lower right) streaking, particularly during visually busy scenes (like the lost in the snow stuff, or the duel in the carbon-freeze chamber)?  Is this a by-product of the script; an encoder error, or is it in the GOUT (though I can't seem to see it there).

" I'm amazed at how much removing the Nuke sequence really helps everything. It removes that air of CGI aided silliness that the film starts with"

Weird, since it's a miniature.  Too bad, there's some interesting ideas there.  I especially like the idea of not seeing the alien-in-the-box - makes it almost plausible that Indy doesn't know "WHAT WAS IN THE BOX?!!" :P  Maybe he was just brought in to look at the artifacts, and didn't get a good look at the body.

Too weird.  The ripped files are fine when played in any software dvd player; 2:01 right where it should be.  PGC sees the files in 3_0 as being 2:01, but ALWAYS demuxes the streams missing a number of chapters in the same place, resulting in 1:42.  Vobedit does weird things too, so that doesn't look like a solution.  This might sound idiotic, but what about dragging all the VOBs into MPEG Video Wizard DVD and rendering a single file from there?  Or running them through a rebuild in DVDShrink?  They show as being 2:01 when assembled, and since it's not an encoder, it shouldn't do anything other than a stream copy.  Does it have a tendancy to drop frames when joining VOBS like that which would crop up later?

Have now gone through this process, and run into a couple of weird snags, maybe you guys have some idea what's happening.  Ripped to HD, no problem.  Demuxed, indexed, script run, remuxed, no problem.  Except that the video cuts from the trash compactor to the rebel hangar.  Go back to demuxed streams...yup, audio and video jump ahead, and the whole movie looks like 1:42 and change.  Okay, try to re-demux with Vobedit instead of PGCDemux.  Looks okay, whole movie in various players, looks like 2:20, which is weird since all the alternate audio tracks I've readied to drop in only run about 2:01.  Hmmm.  So delete everything back to the ripped files, and demux again.  Same result, 2 hours, twenty minutes, and the restored mono, the ripped faces, and ISOMix's isolated score AC3's all look like just over 2 hours. Any thoughts on what's happening here?

Hope someone is gong to have a stab at this soon!  I'd have a go, but I'm spending all my processor time right now on running G-force's GOUT script.  This film COULD be made to work a little better, probably placing it somewhere between TOD and LC on the "Not Crap-O-meter".  Couple of thoughts, not sure if I've missed these in the thread or not.

A)14.) Minor, but Ox's "Dad?" in the end in reaction to Mutt isn't really needed. Cut right to "somewhere your grandpa.."

Isn't it explicitly stated that the reason Oxley stopped talking to Indy is because he left Marion knocked up and alone?  Shouldn't this be GONE for sure?

B)Was just watching the Rifftrax last night, and the debriefing scene feels like it needs trimming.  The whole "WHAT WAS IN THE BOX?!" exchange is redundant, and makes little sense after establishing that Indy has already examined it (that WHY they captured him in the first place!) and has told Spalko he knows what they're looking for.  Also, he knows about the wreckage, the magnetic shroud, and the "mutilated remains", why the hell would he keep asking what was in the box?  How about cutting right before he goes off on that gruff little hissy fit, at the end of the shot where the chunky agent is accusing him of helping the KGB break into the warehouse in "My country.".  Cut directly to the general walking in on the proceedings.  "Who was that woman?" is also redundant, since she's introduced herself, and bragged about her accomplishments already, but it's proabably neccessary to put what meagre meat there is on the character.

C)Ford's read of "I should never have doubted you, my friend." is superior in the on-set audio from the BTS featurette, I'd vote for replacing that line as well as "Part-Time".  Although I think I'd actually vote against switching "Not as easy as it used to be.".  Sure, the read is great, but it works in the trailer becuase the tone of the sequence is a little different (as it exists anyways).  In the film, it sounds like it would be out of place, as the sequence is just Indy and Mac throwing lines back and forth, not a single, world-weary take on the whole situation.  Come to think of it though, could that "we've been through worse" nonsense be cut in favor of the simplicity of the exchange from the trailer?  None of the whole "Vennesberg..." "...we had guns..."  "I still am young!" banter really sits well anyways.  Is there any way to go from "This ain't gonna be easy"  "Not as easy as it used to be." to "Put your hands down will, you?  You're embarrassing us."?  Maybe after a cut-away to the jeep pulling up?

D)Don't suppose there's any way to incorperate any of the introductory dialogue with Marion from the featurette?  The exchange of "Why are you so mad at me?  How long ya got?!" feels so much more natural than what ended up onscreen, and does the same story work more efficiently.

E)Yeah, the cinematography is awful.  Beyond pallette, exposure, and filters, composition is lazy, lacks much kinetic energy and focus.  Just look at the chase in college town; just tightening the FOV on a few of those shots would have made it a little more dynamic.  At any rate, the CC attempts sop far look very promising.

Anyways...just stream of thought.

Bwahahahahaha!!!  It's so pretty!  Thanks, guys, I eneded up using the partially encoded first half (no index repair, as nothing would either a)load it or b)found errors, but, aside from the obious pre-load slowness, no problem in virtualdub) appended to a new second half, then full-processing re-encode, staying in lagarith.  I just got the results out of CCE, and it's so much slicker than the source.  Great looking job, g_force, thanks for your work on the script!

I think it might be a stability issue, actually, Moth3r; still different points at which the operation crashes.  Would the script stop automatically if a dll was missing?  Also, is it possible to append chunks of lagarith encoded avi together without frame-drops?  I'm still running into problems with the enocde, at least paritally now becuase I live in a fairly remote area, and power surges pretty commonly knock out my computer.  If I can at least salvage the past day worth of processing, that would be cool.  Any thoughts?

Why...yes I do, as matter of fact (have both dll's you mentioned, Moth3R).  I know I've picked up a couple of packs specifically for the GOUT re-encode along the way.  I do remember seeing that a couple of variations on the plugins required were causing trouble for other people, were these the offending DLL's, those need to go?  It just seems weird that the encode made it halfway through before quitting.

Argh...'Tis exactly what happened.  :)  I was just coming on to edit my post.  I was following the directions in the Gout to Anamorphic thread, which doesn't seem to mention the "Force Film" option in the indexing stage.  Looks fine after I re-indexed it.  Only problem now is that VirtualDub can't seem to make it all the way through outputting as lossless.  The script ran for about 10 hours, and got as far as looking for R2, and came up with an AVISYnth error, which seems to be a memory problem ("could not reference...").  I'm trying a couple of tests now straight out of HC, checking video and also to see if subs appear, which they didn't seem to in Vdub, hang the extra time it'll take.  Thank, Moth3R!

Finally got around to trying this, and wanted to second the interlacing issue.  Sorry if this has been addressed before, but I didn't see an answer as I went through the thread.  Or rather, I'm not sure if what I'm seeing is just normal 3:2 pulldown, and not to worry about.  When I run the script out of Virtualdub, I'm definetly seeing interlacing for two frames, after three progressive.  I've been trying to run a lossless AVI as per g-force and Moth3r's advice.  When I check screenshots of a given frame between the demuxed video, and the lossless AVI, or the mp2 that CCE spit out, there is again definetly interlacing on frames in the AVI where it isn't in the original video.  Is there some setting I have missed in ripping the DVD, or is this nothing out of the ordinary?
