That is sadly true, but not very often ;-)
That is sadly true, but not very often ;-)
I just remembered I wanted to point out that the wipe in this shot was changed so that it starts on the left stormy's face and so it's progress is shifted to the left, while originally it started in the center and the whole wipe was centred (that gave me quite a headache when I was despecializing it:
Thank you, guys :-)
And here's the final version of the "Look sir, droids" scene :-) I had to make the wipe from the second to the third shot start a bit earlier, because it was different in the SE but I think it works OK.
Yeah, how's this coming along? Can't wait to see it :-)
New video. I was originally just going to use DJ's Blu (GOUT sourced) for these two shots but I didn't like the blinking starfield, which was worsened by the increased contrast, so I decided to try and quickly do something about it... and well, I ended up staying up all night working on it, but I think it was worth it. Please check it out and comment :-)
No, all my projects (with the exception of the ROTJ PAL DVD) are 23.976fps, so there is no PAL speedup.
Here are a few comparison pics, left is the GOUT right is Despecialized :-)
Well, that depends on what constitutes fixing the colours. If you and I can sort of fix the colours, so can LFL. Granted, there are some unsalvageable errors in the 04 transfers but it could still be an improvement.

Are you doing the shadows under the landspeeder?
What about the sky Sky behind 3p0 when he says "I am not going that way."?
Yes and yes :-)
@Eric:
It's not just the GOUT mind you, just get out your GOUT DVD and compare the shots!!!
I posted a video with several shots somewhere like two or three pages back and that shot was a part of it and I'm afraid I can't do much more about it.
PM sent :-)
I'm saying this partly in my self interest, but you might be better off just uploading it to RS or something (please nothing where you have to do captcha for every part, that's annoying as f*ck!!!).
Oh, yeah, that's my voice :-) I made that trailer ages ago and have an improved version of it somewhere, which is one of the bonuses on the ROTJ Reconstruction PAL DVD9.

Imagine the following trailer:
For an entire generation people have experienced Star Wars the only way it has been possible, in the Special Edition.
But if you've only seen it this way, you haven't seen it at all!
Now after decades of wasted time in changing perfect movies.
See the Oscar winning original theatrical version.
With its original visual effects.
With its original Sound and Score.
And no more surprises!

Well, sadly, commercially the 2004 DVD set was pretty f*cking far from f*ck up.

Usually box sets are intended for you to throw out the old dvd copies. Definitly not here.
Like I said before, there are still millions of the 2004 box sets on the shelf and they want to sell those too.
Thanks, I hope you understand :-)
Yeah, I wouldn't do that. Can you please remove that comment? I don't want any trouble and trying to tell people not to buy the Blu-Rays and download my version instead on AMAZON is definitely asking for trouble.
No, no-one yet. That would be f*cking awesome if you could do that :-)
I must say, having gone through a lot of shots of the 2004 SE HD in great detail, there is quite a lot of grain there. So much actually, that I would have no problem believing that that's how grainy the o-neg is. When I say this though, I mean the 97SE conformed o-neg, where a lot of the original optical composites (which would be the grainiest parts of the original) were replaced by digitally recomposited ones. So if they got rid of the crushed blacks and f'ed-up colours, which are probably not a part of the scan but rather a later in the process screw-up, I think the 2004 scans could quite well be used for an original cut re-assembly.
Yeah, I already went through the EoD and found nothing I could use, most of the footage either sucks even worse than the GOUT or is incomplete :-(
Also, I posted a destruction of Alderaan video ages ago, you can see it here :-)
Who are you and what did you do with Frink? The Frink I know would rejoice at a thread being derailed and pour a few barrels of gasoline in the fire :-)
It's Czech, my mother-tongue :-D But come on, how long have you been surfing the web? There's a little flag in the upper right corner and when you click it, you can actually magically turn the whole site to English :-D
The best source for this are 005's HD comparisons, which show differences between all 3 versions. It is stated under every comparison whether it is a 97 or 2004 change, so if it says it's a 2004, it means that the shot was the same as the original in 97SE and if it was different in all 3 versions, 005 offers a comparison of all 3.
