If you don’t have Blu-ray player, the Blu-ray is useless to you, because you can’t play it.
And if you do have Blu-ray player, the DVD is useless to you, because why would you want to watch the movie in worse quality?

He was probably thinking for 30 years about explaining that mistake in a way that makes him sound clever.
