That Star Wars Feeling - that brought me here...
Time
I'm really sorry for you pal. Waiting that long for TPM...
I first saw the trilogy around 1996, and I loved it immediately. Often I wished that I had been born 20 years earlier so I could have had the experience of seeing them in the theatre and of waiting and anticipating the next installments. But now it's not the case anymore. At least my disappointment about the prequels was not that big.

I THINK I FIGURED IT OUT - WHY SO MANY SW FANS DISLIKED THE PT...
Time
I can't even say precisely what it is that makes the prequels so bad in my eyes. I think it's a mixture of things. The main one being that the Star Wars prequels don't feel like Star Wars at all. Only one of the main characters is present, Obi Wan, and his appearances are not that special. I don't mention Darth Vader because the prequels are about Anakin (at least as far as AOTC goes, don't know about ep3). The tone is different too. The prequels take themselves much too seriously. What makes the OT ss good is that it's more in a trashy soap opera style. And that's what GL intended to do in first place so I really don't understand why he changed his mind for the prequels. The style is also completely different. The OT has all those tacky puppets and monsters and those cool laser effects while the prequels are littered with unneceassry CGI gizmos and preposterous costumes and hairdos.
Still I've seen them both (albeit only twice) and I'll go a, watch Ep3 when it's released (especially coz I'd like to see how they are going to match it to Ep4).
In short, for me the OT rule but to each his/her own...

Harry Potter 3
Time
I saw that movie too and I think that it is far better han the other two. And for all those who bitch about the differences: MOVIES ARE NOT BOOKS! They are a totally different media and a good adaptation should take advantage of the possibilities offered by movies instead of sticking religiously to the book. that would be only a possibility to cash in on the popularity of the novels. In this instance the book and the movie complement each other. The novel gives the background and the film gives the images and expresses the story through them. I just loved the visuals of Cuaron's movie and it's really a pity that he doesn't direct part 4. i think he would handle the death really well. but maybe Newell will do fine too.
Only thing I missed is the explanation of what happened the night Harry's parents died. That is for me the emotional highlight of the book and so it's really impoartant, also for illustrating the character's past.

Do you think there will be a Trilogy day for Star Wars ( or a Double Trilogy Day )
Time
Yep, it was quite something. Moreover it was at night. It was a special event that started at 10 p.m. and finished at 7 a.m. ish (there was a 30 break between each movie). was really a cool experience, but I wouldn't do it more than once a year.

If you're still able to write after your Bond marathon, tell us how it went!

Thanks!!
It's really too bad that it was not marketed well...

I think it definitely deserves some oscar nominations, at least the one for Best Original Screenplay. It should really get it.

And Jimbo, you obviously haven't seen "Eternal Sunshine". Jim Carrey is really great in that one, and I think it's a good thing when actors play different roles as they usually do, it's more of a challenge. And even if I really liked "The Girl Next Door"n I wouldn't consider it a masterpiece, that's totally exagerated.

Van Helsing
Time
i really like Sommer's mummy movies, and i think Jackman is quite a good actor, but i have no desire whatsoever to see van helsing. the first time i saw the trailer it made me cring "vampires! the wolfman! frankenstein's monster!" please...i know it is meant as a tribute to monster movies but i don't know seems over the top. the vampires look terrible imo and van helsing's line "this is my destiny...my curse" reminds me so much og Spider-Man. total rip-off.
Same for Troy, sounds too much mike a wannabe epic, although i heard that Eric Bana is good in it.

Changes in 2004 DVDs
Time
i was sure that i was going to buy the SE DVDs in september (the lure of the DVD format and nice packaging...) but if that is true then i won't get them. it's really getting ridiculous, if he goes on like that, changing stuff everytime SW gets rerealsedn in 20 there will be left only 10 percent of the original footage!
still, hope digital bits are wrong on this one.

but on the other side, at least it made Jimbo sign the petition, now he's officially one of us.

What's the name of EP3 gonna be?
Time
yeah but i understand why they changed it. it's true that jedis shouldn't think about revenge (well, as far as i know, haven't met a jedi yet so couldn't ask that question...). and in the movie there is actually no revenge, so the title would have been misleading.
birth of the empire sounds cool to me...but you can't really have a worse title than "the phantom menace"...gah!

gundark's suggestions are very good as well, you should try to contact GL about them...

i dunno... i see why LOTR would do it since it's actually one continuous story, but that is different for Star Wars. i don't think i could do it, gosh, spending that much time watching movies...a couple of months ago i watched 4 movies in a row at a theatre and at the end i was really exhausted and glad that it was over, although i really enjoyed it.
and also, the thought that i have to sit through the prequels to get to the originals in the 2004 edition... no, don't count me in.

Can Luke wake up?
Time
well if you want to help someone who is unconscious you are should lay that parson on the back and lift her/his legs, that way there will be enough blood going to the head. so I guess that's a good thing to regain consciousness, but I don't know, it's just a movie after all. or you could try it yourself: ask one of your friends to knoxk you down and then to hang you upside down and then tell us how much time you needed to wake up... *anxiously awaiting result of this experiment*
