they look nothing alike, but i would have rather seen Larry as Mace as opposed to Sammy...

How come?

in my mind he fits more of a "jedi master" feel than sammy. Sammy = shaft, Larry = Morepheus. Not to take anything away from sammy, cause he is a great actor, i just prefer Fishy, He talent is a little bit more diversified imo, and i think he could pull the Jedi Master thing off in a more refined manner, and in the end still be a bad ace...

Sorry to be getting off topic but could you have seen Morgan Freeman or Keith David as the Jedi Master Mace Windu?

Could it not be argued in your opinion that Mace and Morpheus are essentially the same character?

Samuel L. Jackson & Laurence Fishburne
Time
Both Samuel L. Jackson and Laurence Fishburne have been quoted as saying that people often confuse them. Jackson says that he and Fishburne have stood right next to each other at premieres and what not, and he has distinctly heard people call him by Laurence's name while others call Laurence by Jackson's name.

Does anyone find that a little absurd? I mean, they really don't look that much alike (Sam's face is smoother, Laurence's is a little more weather-beaten).

A question in regards to Samuel L. Jackson
Time
I've met a lot of people - SW fans and non fans alike - who habitually loath seeing Samuel L. Jackson in the prequels, some because they feel he is wasted, others because none of his dialogue allows him the chance to curse, and others simply because he's Samuel L. Jackson. Personally I don't have a problem with seeing Jackson in these films (there are other much more annoying things on screen).

If you dislike seeing Samuel L. Jackson in these films, please explain why for I am most curious. If you do not dislike seeing him in these films, please still explain why.

OK, if for whatever reason GL had decided to stick with Revenge of the Jedi for the OT is tead of Return of the Jedi, what do you think the name of Epidoe III would be. Also, if you have any alternate titles for any of the episodes, present them here.

Episode III - Return of the Sith perhaps.

Alternate Episode II - The Clone Rangers

Anakin's fall - did it really need three films or could it have been done in one?
Time
Introducing a young adult Anakin in Episode I and giving him flashbacks to his youth probably would have gotten the point across just fine that, yes Darth Vader was once a kid - just as Hitler and all other tyrants were once little kids - but George Lucas can't seem to think outside the box of his usual technique, following all too rigidly a certain storytelling structure that would work fine if the prequels were actually good, which they are not.

I don't think we can simplify these emotions too much. Dislike, disappointment, hate, love, like, etc tend to be used and over-used and if none of us gave a rat's ass about Star Wars we wouldn't be here- we're here because we love SOME aspect of it. But each of us different tastes and experiences... which is what makes the forum so cool. And if we get frustrated by other people's opinions then we're taking all this much MUCH too seriously. And that isn't pointed at anyone in particular- that goes for all I think

But.... For one, people just like to bitch about stuff- especially stuff that they can't usually bitch about at work or sometimes even at home. Also I would tend to generaliz that most SE 'haters' are pre-disposed to dislike the PT for way too many reasons to get in to. The SE are WRONG on several levels, IMHO, not the least of which just basic film preservation. That said, reaction to the PT (or what we've seen so far of it) seems to either be resignation or disappointment. We can't control what Lucas creates (though some of us try real hard! ) but we can compare our experience with the OT with what we see now in the PT. Had I never seen the OT in their original forms in the theater, my reactions would be very different. But geez- before we had a VCR and long before DVD or anything of the sort, I saw that blasted first movie 27 times in the theater!!! 27!!! I couldn't *dream* of seeing a movie that many time in theaters these days- I'd go broke! Many films these days don't even rate a second watch. And the ones I think do I cling to (or at least buy the DVD). If I tried, I could find some good in almost every movie I've seen (almost). But TPM...? It was hard for me too find much, other the light saber duel. But mainly I felt a sense of disappoinment after waiting all those years and getting THAT movie. Of course, the SE warned me that something was up.

So anyway I do tend to think that for many reasons Kevin Smith, like him or not (and I do) is not the most nonpartial critic to write a review of Star Wars stuff.

greencapt, I salute you. The above was very well put together.

(i've translated the best i could,remember i'm french! ; )

- 25000: begining of the Republic

- 896: birth of Yoda

- 200: birth of Chewbacca

- 112: C3PO is activated

- 60: birth of Obi Wan Kenobi

- 55: birth of Anakin Skywalker

- 48: birth of Mon Mothma

- 35: end of Clone Wars, during this war, Obi Wan is given the rank of general. He meets Bail Organa and the young pilot ; Anakin Skywalker. At the end of the war, Obi Wan starts the training of Anakin but realises too late that he is seduced by the dark side.

- 29: birth of Han Solo.Corruption and injustice affect the republic. Taking advantage of the situation, senator Palpatine becomes president of the senate.

-18: Palpatine proclaims himself Emperor and abolishes the republic.First rebel manifestations.During that time Obi Wan tries to bring back Anakin, who is influenced by Palpatine. They fight, Anakin falls into a volcano and is left for dead by Obi Wan.
Anakin becomes Darth Vader and serves the Emperor, he starts to exterminate all the jedis.
3 senators (including Mon Mothma and Bail Organa) create the rebel alliance.
birth of Luke and Leia.

well...quite different from the prequels we know.
what do you think of it?

I like this timeline better.
