Science-fiction moviemaker Val Guest has lost his battle with prostate cancer in a Palm Desert, California hospital. He was 94. The British-born director and screenwriter is best known for his work on films like The Quatermass Xperiment and The Day The Earth Caught Fire, but he's also among the credited film-makers behind 1960s James Bond spoof Casino Royale. Guest and co-writer Wolf Mankowitz picked up a Best British Screenplay award from the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) in 1962 for their work on The Day The Earth Caught Fire.

Oh. I didn't even think about that. What happened?

Basically nothing. It just reminded the viewers that the characters were all a bunch of drugged out losers who would never grow up and move beyond Point Place to do anything meaningful with their lives.

Ashton Kutcher and Topher Grace came back, and I think you could see the shame on their faces along with the rest of the cast that decided to limp along with the last, painful haul.

This town I'm in, Jamestown, it's a joke. There's 2 cinemas with uncomfortable seats each showing 2 movies (one at 7, one at 9). I had a choice of Poseidon, MI:2, some comedy called RV starring Robin Williams, and another comedy called Larry the cable guy.

Poseidon was pretty good though - does what it says on the tin. Just an enjoyable 90 minutes, nothing more, nothing less.

For Superman though I'm gonna drive 100 miles to the next town (Fargo, as in the movie) to catch it on a decent screen with surround sound.

That sucks.

I hate those bastards at Wikipedia blocking me because I was actually submitting pictures of Alicia Witt for her page because for some reason those idiots are incapable of keeping a picture of her on screen.

I hate my mother siding with the dogs barking instead of with the humans who are trying to sleep.

I hate my mother taking the shit out of this story I wrote for my school's Spectrum submissions because she didn't like my "ambiguous ending".
