The Prequel Trilogy needed a better story - or rather, an actual story, better actors for Anakin Skywalker and what's-her-name (Luke & Leia's mom), a better reason for Anakin turning into Darth Vader, and more focus/emphasis on the relationship between Anakin and Obi-Wan Kenobi.

I have a confession to make - I've only read the book version of LWW, and that was many moons ago. I thought the film was okay; not the best film I've ever seen but certainly not the worst.

One of his that I've heard a lot about but haven't seen is Robert Aldrich's The Big Knife, with Rod Steiger. I'd love to watch that one, I hear they're both great in it.

I thought the role that really defined him was his role in Shane.

LOS ANGELES -- Jack Palance, the craggy-faced menace in "Shane," "Sudden Fear" and other films who turned to comedy at 70 with his Oscar-winning self-parody in "City Slickers," died Friday.

Palance died of natural causes at his home in Montecito, Calif., surrounded by family, said spokesman Dick Guttman. Palance was 85 according to Associated Press records, but his family gave his age as 87.

When Palance accepted his Oscar for best supporting actor he delighted viewers of the 1992 Academy Awards by dropping to the stage and performing one-armed push-ups to demonstrate his physical prowess.

"That's nothing, really," he said slyly. "As far as two-handed push-ups, you can do that all night, and it doesn't make a difference whether she's there or not."

That year's Oscar host, Billy Crystal, turned the moment into a running joke, making increasingly outlandish remarks about Palance's accomplishments throughout the night's awards presentations.

I hate that we had to put our oldest dog to sleep. He was 15, had tumors sticking out of his leg and around his stomach, had arthritis and could no longer stand up and walk under his own power, so putting him down and out of his misery was probably the most humane thing we could do for him, but I still hate that we had to do it. And I'm not even a pet person.
