There are evidently a few spots that couldn’t be perfect. The reason is because somehow I pulled a boner and lost the original recording, forcing me to carefully resync the old track as best I could.
Also, “pull a boner” should come back into the vernacular.
Wow, never thought those recordings would have served such a purpose. I do wish more fan edits would feature commentaries.
It seems doable (for someone who is not me, anyway) to replaces the Snokes in a jar with Palpatines. It would essentially just be a still image mapped over and tracked for the shot.

Well, when Rey runs across the landscape in a wide shot, it’s very clearly just a temp effect as she hovers while running in place. (Although there are some comparable shots in the finished version of the LOTR movies.)
The ocean background when Luke talks with Rey at the end are static. And I think there are some un-removed puppetry things, too.
More importantly, I feel the scene is very nice but better omitted. We have already come to understand that Luke thinks negatively about the Jedi and that Rey is full of piss and vinegar. And when this scene is gone, Luke approaching Rey as she is about to touch hands with Kylo rings more strongly as him about to come to his senses and begin to help her.
Yeah, just resynced it to match the length. I must have recorded a little segment somewhere specifically for V3.

I appreciate the thought you’ve put into it, but I’d prefer for TFA:R to remain as it is, sticking pretty close to the original movie outside it’s main couple aims. I don’t particularly like going straight from the escape to the ‘electrical overload’ bit, but it works well for what Nev is going for in his.

I can’t fathom why Compressor’s BluRay video stream output baked into an mkv would cause these problems. But I don’t really have a way to test it.

I just liked it when I saw it from Nev, since it reappropriated footage that was cut. My thought process wasn’t really much more than that.
