Thanks! Should be a little better for us, but nothing earth shattering.
Thanks! Should be a little better for us, but nothing earth shattering.
Certainly. I just took a new job that starts in a month, and time for interacting with this will be very scarce. But I’ll do what I can when I can, and appreciate the group effort this will be.
Wow, this thread has had a busy day! What an interesting idea. It’d take some doing. It’s still hard for me to entertain it much, but hopefully seeing the movie again in a couple weeks will bring me back up to speed.
Doesn’t seem worth it.
Let’s play mad libs:
“You don’t just have power, Rey. You have his [funny noun]. You’re a [funnier noun].
power / Palpatine
Ewoks / Mary Sue
Clone DNA / bad experiment
stunning brown eyes / midichlorian
“You don’t just have power, Rey. You have his beauty. You’re an angel.”
Palpatine’s son is a clone of Palpatine now? He doesn’t look like him.
Unless someone wants to do a little deepfake project.
It’s two frames, but still. If you wanted to watch V4 it should be fine for that, just don’t author a physical disc just yet.
I noticed a little oopsie in V4, so I’ll have to eventually release a fixed version. But I may as well hold off in case we have any more bright ideas related to TROS.
It’s a video glitch during Leia’s first conversation with Finn. The cut point was misaligned when I go back to the BluRay from footage from NeverAr.
^ Thanks, nl! It is hard to totally picture all of those scenes in that order, but once I can see the movie again I’m sure I’ll be in a better place to appraise it in terms of desirability and feasibility. Scene transitions can be difficult, but this film’s relentless BLAH pacing may allow for less polish than I’d usually strive for.
I can’t listen to the Emperor’s line right now, but that’s be amazing if it were able to blend in seamlessly after all.
Probably!
I’m down with that idea, but that makes it even more necessary to come up with some way to communicate to the audience at the end that Palps is 100% for realsies dead this time, you guys - otherwise it’s just, “Well, we saw all his clone bodies earlier, clearly he’s just gonna get cloned again.”
Hmm, I’m not sure how this causes greater need for confirmation that he’s dead forever this time. It was already sorely needed to begin with! (Unless he represents the sort of evil that cannot be killed along with any one man and is never truly vanquished.)
Hey, Hal. I know that you have a life as us fan editors do too. But I was wondering that in the future, most likely when the film arrives on Blu-ray, since there’s no deleted scenes available, would you be interested if I offered you a pitch scenario of restructuring scenes in the narrative?
Of course! Don’t be shy.
There are evidently a few spots that couldn’t be perfect. The reason is because somehow I pulled a boner and lost the original recording, forcing me to carefully resync the old track as best I could.
Also, “pull a boner” should come back into the vernacular.
Wow, never thought those recordings would have served such a purpose. I do wish more fan edits would feature commentaries.
It seems doable (for someone who is not me, anyway) to replaces the Snokes in a jar with Palpatines. It would essentially just be a still image mapped over and tracked for the shot.
Haha, thanks. Glad you enjoyed hearing me rattle on about these two movies.
I might have to drink before recording one for IX eventually.
Well, when Rey runs across the landscape in a wide shot, it’s very clearly just a temp effect as she hovers while running in place. (Although there are some comparable shots in the finished version of the LOTR movies.)
The ocean background when Luke talks with Rey at the end are static. And I think there are some un-removed puppetry things, too.
More importantly, I feel the scene is very nice but better omitted. We have already come to understand that Luke thinks negatively about the Jedi and that Rey is full of piss and vinegar. And when this scene is gone, Luke approaching Rey as she is about to touch hands with Kylo rings more strongly as him about to come to his senses and begin to help her.
Yeah, just resynced it to match the length. I must have recorded a little segment somewhere specifically for V3.
Wow, that’s amazing! I’d love to use it if I do another revision of my project but we’ll see.
Tweak the backgrounds to transform Ach To into more of a Hawaiian vibe.
Ah, gotcha. Works well, good job.
What was done to the Broom Boy scene?
Just hold on a still frame of Kylo after dubbing over one of the knights to say, “And now we will use our Force powers to lock him in place.”
No need. The dialogue now plays as:
Luke: Where are you from?
Rey: Nowhere.
Luke: Why are you here, Rey from nowhere?

The differences between the original and SE endings are too great to cobble 97 audio to fit the GOUT.
Not an oversight, just doing what I intended from the mission statement.
