I consider TV on DVD a mixed blessing, but overall am glad for it. It allowed me to discover Firefly.

Personally, I'd like for the OV to be made available so I can see it. It's been a very long time since I've seen the OV, and it has never really been available on home video anyway. The first release of Blade Runner on video was an extended cut that put more violence back into the film.

I'm following the same rule I did with PoA: My older two children (8 and almost 11) have both read the book at least twice with no ill effects, so they can see the film. My youngest (almost 6) is not ready for it yet.

Question is, what kind do you want? I have a Samsonite one that I won from a law firm. It's nice, but I'd need a super sturdy laptop because it doesn't offer a lot of protection to what's inside. The backpack models seem to be really good.

What is going to happen is the same thing that happened with Abel Gance's silent epic, Napoleon. Gance continued tinkering with the film into the 1960s, changing the score and reediting. By the 1980s, a restoration had to be mounted to find the original film, because Gance kept going back to the ONeg, striking new prints, and cutting as he saw fit.

We can hope that GL struck new prints after the color correction and pre-digital effects restoration work was done, but I'm somewhat cynical about that.
