It was quite subversive actually. The following parent/teacher interview round, she took her to one side and said, "Don't you DARE TRY TO RE-TEACH MY SON HOW TO WRITE! YOU'RE NOT LEFT-HANDED, SO WHAT DO YOU KNOW ABOUT THE CORRECT WAY FOR A LEFT-HANDED PERSON TO WRITE? IF HE COMES HOME WITH INK SMUDGES ON THE SIDE OF HIS HAND AGAIN, I WILL BE TAKING THIS UP WITH THE PRINCIPAL." Or something to that effect.

Yeah, my mom had already taught me how to do cursive writing properly, but my 6th grade teacher took it upon herself to "correct" me, i.e. turn my hand upside down so that it looked like I was writing right-handed and smudging my work in the process. My mom went ape (since she is also a lefty) and tore a strip off the teacher. Needless to say, that teacher never complained about my handwriting again!
Hey, guess what? I just passed NileQT for number of posts! Woo-hoo!

How did you get burned on Tron? Are there two versions available? I thought there was only one.

Tron was one of the first movies Disney released on DVD, in non-anamorphic widescreen with a Dolby Digital 4.1 audio track. There were murmurs for years about an SE, but nothing happened, so in the summer of 2001 I bit the bullet and purchased this version (~$25). Not 2 months later, Disney announces a new 20th anniversary edition: 2 discs, anamorphic WS, deleted scenes, trailers, all new doc. I was choked, but when it came out, the price was even lower (under $20) so I picked it up and gave my old one to a friend. I don't know if the old disc is still in print, but I doubt if it is.

Sorry, but I must side with Bossk on this one. As far as SEs of movie titles go, if I just want the movie with no special features, that's what I'll buy; otherwise, I'll wait. There's no point in having two copies of the same film in the same format. I got burned on Tron and will not get burned again, except for when I picked up the CE of A Bug's Life. I think MGM has the right idea by keeping the original releases out at the same time as the SEs. That way, both types of fans of a particular film can get exactly what they want.

I appreciate that you are trying to resolve the server problems Jay. I had written a very eloquent post and submitted when the server crashed and the post was lost. Very frustrating to have to retype the whole thing from memory. I agree that this should be resolved before we get any major media outlets involved.

Think through your comments before you post them. That should be the number one rule in any forum.

Couldn't have put it better myself. I wish I could go back and redo all the posts that happened when I got in that shouting match with Jedi Master DJR. It's all fixed now, but I am a lot more careful about what I post. The last thing I want is to be misunderstood, and I think that goes for all of us. How is GL supposed to take us seriously if we're all sniping at each other?
