STAR WARS - Enhanced HD & O-OT HD Packs... some suggestions...
Time
I like that theory, they are just going through the motions, feeling each other out, shaking out the rust... When was the last time either of them had a sabre Duel, like 25 years before, anyone would need a bit of a warmup, then Ben throws the match before they really get started.
That settles my mind on aspect that bothered my since seein the prequels, thanks Gaf!
It is true what they say, Gaffer Tape can solve any problem!

Hey OCP! What on earth are you trying to prove, you even appear to be cheating your comparison shots

The X0 and TR47 shots are about 720pixels wide, which is to be expected, but the shot of Leia, and of Anakin etc. supposedly straight from DVD are 843 x 363pixels.
Now DVDs be 720x480 or 720x576 if NTSC or PAL, do I detect some processed images here, at least compare apples with apples.

And what are the greedo and vader shots meant to prove? The X0 vader shot is blown up by a few hundred percent and has the chroma boosted by a whole heap to show noise levels (as far as I understand it?) , so you compare it to a non blown up DVD shot with the chroma untouched as a comparison?

Ditto for the Tie fighter shot, you take a half resolution image and compare it to a full resolution shot, same again with greedo.

At least be honest with your posts (or were you just to stupid to realise in the case of Vader and the Ties?), at least compare apples with apples.

Aren't you missing the point anyway? My understanding was the X0 project was multifaceted. Wasn't it to get the laserdisc as great as you could so that people like you could use bits from it in your DVD cut and paste projects????
One thing was to preserve the laserdisc copy as best as possible. The other thing was when that was done, then any footage required to do DVD rebuilds like your own classic edition type stuff would then be as good as you could get at the time.

So the new DVD announcement makes the second thing a bit obselete now probably. So what? Why shouldn't they continue on and preserve the laserdisc edition? It is something people are interested in, what skin is it off your nose if they want to finish it.
If the DVD announcement hadn't been made, you would probably be begging them for a copy of the footage for your own projects rather than pissing on them.

You wanna start your own thread about the LID or whatever, feel free, but why piss on other people's projects? It is their business if they want to continue, and they should be able to without you harrassing them for no reason. It is one thing to give an opinion, it is another to just keep shouting in people's faces constantly.

Anyway, you are making some big assumptions aren't you?????
You are assuming that the Lucasfilm release of the untouched trilogy will look as good as the current DVD release, that is yet to be seen.
You are assuming that there won't be any footage that still needs to be replaced.
You are assuming that the X0 guys and TR47 and Mother and Citizen and those chaps won't turn their attention to the DVD release anyway.

No one can even think about working on the new DVDs until September anyway, so why not keep working on current projects till then???

Even assuming all your assumptions are right, I still wanna see the X0 stuff, I enjoy my laserdisc collection, and would like to see what my discs would have looked like if I was rich enough to by a X0 player. I'd like to compare it to the other transfers and see just how far a laserdisc capture can be pushed.

Going on the pictures you did post though, what do I see when I look at the DVDvs X0 pictures you posted? I still see an awful garbage mat around the tie on the DVD picture that is fixed on the X0 picture.
On the anakin DVD picture I see what looks like oversharpening and too much contrast as well as some weird noise in the left hand side behind his head.
I'm assuming the DVD release will have more detail than the X0 transfer, but will it look as good as the new DVD release, maybe maybe not, we won't know until we see it, and neither will you.
