Its going to take ALOT more than straight editing to fix this movie - such as adding digital elements, rotoscoping, color correction, seemless audio and video editing, etc.

Cannot wait Laserschwert's edition, I look with great anticipation. It make take another year, but it will be worth it. Things like this understandbly take time. Just look how long Adywan's takes, but its worth it.

Already been fixed. I replaced it with this shot to match the rest of the scene

Who is the individual on the left? He sticks out like a sore thumb, no offense, just seems a bit out of place with Vader and the General speaking towards the window and the other guy looks as if it was Cut/Pasted into the scene.

Awesome, we are in for a real treat.

Was it just me, by I remember from my first and only viewing of the film that during the jungle car chase, when Mutt is dueling with Spalko, a plant hits his privates and he reacts to it. Is this going to removed?

Maybe you could add a shaky-cam effect to the scene as I recall many critics commenting that for a jungle environment it was pretty far fetched to have such a long strip of incredibly flat and smooth ground. - not that big of a deal but would be interesting to see what you could do with it.

Man, between Laser, InfoDroid and now Cyclades -we may be in need of 1 ultimate version incorporating the best of each version.

Yeah, we need a Skywalker Ranch like edit for this :)

Maybe this would create to much attention, but I bet there are some uber Indiana Jones fans at the raven.theraider.net that would love to add their input to this.

Thanks for the info on the Audio, are you looking to create subtitles as well?

So, Laser, where are you heading to next in your amazing edits?

Well, I think the main scenes to be edited - the chase and waterfall sequences - have now been covered for the most part.

Right now I'm doing some extensive digital manipulation on the ants/fight-sequence, not only adding digital blood, spit and sweat, but also changing some obviously pulled punches (or mis-timed reactions to punches) to clear hits. It looks a LOT more violent that way... I'll post some clips later. I'm still unsure about the sound effects... some of them are the classic Indy-hit-sounds, which could also be heard in the old movies, but they sound "movie-like", taking a bit of the gritty violence away again.

By the way, from now on I'm doing all my digital changes on the 1080p version, so those will have the best quality possible for everybody's edits. I only have to re-do the match-moving of the two photo-replacement shots (I've only done the first one anyway).

Sounds awesome, cannot wait. (Thanks for the 1080p edit :)

THE STAR WARS SAGA - 1080P AVCHD DVD-9 for PS3 & Blu-Ray players - Episodes 1, 4 & 5 available now

no i'm not using the HV encodes at all. They were taken from the sky broadcast which wasn't very good quality and had glitches. I gave up using them as a source at the beginning of the project. I'm using the original 16gb german broadcasts (i only need to get hold of AOTC & ROTS). x264 is a miles better compression format than MPEG2 so compressing them to a DVD-9 is an almost negligable quality drop than the originals and at least with the AVCHD's you don't have to stream them from the PC so you can watch them in 1080p instead of 1080i (which most HD video PC cards output)

Ohh.... thanks for clarifying that. Fine, that makes sense.

You metioned that you are using the hv encodes as a source, why would you use an encode as a source instead of the actual TS/MPEG-2 files which the encode originated from?

Wished you didnt have to decrease the bitrate so as to compress into into DVD-9 format.

Info Wanted: Colorized Classics - is anyone preserving them?
Time

Check this out:

In the 1980s, Room Service was a part of the film colorization controversy when it and other classic black and white films were colorized for television. The film was one of only two Marx Brothers films to be colorized (a colorized version of A Night at the Opera also exists). It was not well received by fans, and today is out of print.

Someone get on that stat! :)

I'll be doing an edit of this just as soon as the DVD is released. So, I'd like to hear some other suggestions too.

Number one on the cut-list? Gophers.

If you can please make a HD 720p/1080p version of your Crystul Skulls edit, that way your version will be THE version to watch and it will stay future proof.

Number two on the cut-list: Monkeys

Number 3: CG Alien

Number 4: Trimming of opening scene that includes the "car race" with Elvis music

ok a bit of an update. Things seem to be going ok now. I've added the laserdisc audio along with English, dutch & french subs. Now the laserdisc audio is set as the main one and i ahve taken out the alternate audio mix, which i will explain why in a moment. The foreign subs i downloaded so i can't guarantee they are correct and the timings may be slightly off because i had no way of checking them.

Ok the reason i put the laserdisc audio as the main one is that i have made a decision about which direction i am going with these AVCHDs to make them different to the ones already available. Well i have decided to make these the Theatrical versions and not the 2004 versions (apart from ANH because of removing Greedo shooting & a couple of other changes done in the 2004 transfer which i didn't replace.) So it makes sense that they will all have the laserdisc audio as the main because these (i think) were closer to the original theatrical audio, if not the actual theatrical mix. All apart from AOTC & ROTS because there were no laserdiscs of these. So that means that ESB will have the original Emperor returned, ROTJ will have Sebastian Shaw replacing Hayden and the Naboo shot will be removed, and TPM will also be the theatrical version with the laserdisc audio. Now i decided to take out the alternate mix because i won't be doing one for the others and i want to keep this set as consistent as possible. also the glitch seemed to be with the audio and not the video. Now the laserdisc audio hasn't got such a great surround sound as the 2004 mix

So i will update the first post with the new specs as soon as i can

First, thank you for the English subtitles, always prefer watching my films with it. Second, it will still include the commentaries? Here is an interesting discussion on Laserdisc audio vs Blu-ray audio:

Third, thanks for all this, YOU ROCK!!!

Thanks!!!! :)

I am sorry, but just for clarification, is the MKV you are making, is it the "THE STAR WARS SAGA" edition or WookieGrammar's?

because after actually (doy) reading this thread, I rather get your "THE STAR WARS SAGA" color corrected with added comentary version in mkv format.
