STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW
Time

Ryan, I want to say that you wrote some reasonable comments in other threads and I didn’t mean picking at you specifically for defending something from the prequels. My main gripe was the claim of it being an objective issue and the consecutive hivemind and groupthink comments. I’m really sorry that things escalated, since the topic of that thread was rather interesting.

And most importantly, I also want to say a big thanks to adywan, both for your projects and for your contributions in the General Star Wars section. It’s really sad that you have to take such a drastic step and I wish you well.
This said, I don’t hope for you to change your mind and come back to a place that you don’t like anymore, instead I hope for this site to become again what it used to be so that you actually want to return. Until then:

Oh , come off it. you must be either stupid or a pre-teen if you thought that calling people “retarded” wasn’t offensive.

Personally I don’t find it offending when random people around here call me something like that.

I don’t feel that way, either, but that was never the point. Retared as a slur is not very offensive because it would be particularly insulting to the recipient to be called mentally handicapped, it’s easy to shrug that off, it is offensive because it devalues mentally handicapped people. But I don’t expect you to understand this.

Anakin’s podracer flag at Maz’s castle has apparently been removed from the DVD/Blu-ray release.

Any thoughts?

The trailer not representing the theatrical version maybe?

Not sure if confirmed but it was brought up in the TFA fanedit thread and…

Yeah, I was too lazy to search for that.

Look up the definition of the word, there’s more than just “mentally handicapped”; it is possible for words to have multiple meanings, boss.

Oh, so you weren’t using it as a pejorative? Interesting.

Dictionary definitions, the siren call of the asshole.

Real =/= better.

Ryan-SWI said:

From a technical standpoint the screenshot of TPM looks more real than that of ROTJ, which is ultimately what the filmmakers were aiming for: amazing special effects that felt real.

Sounds reasonable. (Frink, am I doing this right?)

Ryan-SWI said:

Also as a side note, those pods and the background in that scene are real, physical objects.

And they did their very best to hide that fact.

If you could only remove one Special Edition change...?

What about Jedi Rocks?

I’d probably go with that or the Jabba scene, because no matter how much scenes like Han shooting second and force ghost Anakin ruin the characters, at least they are short while Jedi Rocks and Jabba at the Falcon are rather long. The Jabba scene basically being a rehash of the Greedo scene ruins the pacing and Jedi Rocks makes me cringe, so they affect my viewing experience more directly than other changes that ruin the movies only by implication.
Nevertheless, I wouldn’t want to watch that version, either.
