STAR WARS: EP IV 2004 REVISITED ADYWAN *1080p HD VERSION NOW IN PRODUCTION

I think having more troopers tones down the absurdity in a way. The humor in the original version is “Wait a minute. You’re not the one who chases us. We’re supposed to be chasing you. That’s ridiculous”. In the SE, it’s now just, “Aha, reinforcements! The tables have turned!”.

That’s not a bad thing, is it?

While I agree the Empire should use minimal color, it just doesn’t make sense to wear white. Besides, it’s already been implemented in some weird way with the shoretroopers.

The white was intentional, and there is no logical need for changing either.
And just because Disney got away from many of Lucas’ concepts, does not mean you have to change Lucas movies to resemble Disney’s ideas.
Not to mention this Shoretrooper idea by Disney is idiotic. There is no hiding on a beach. But they can sell more Stormtroopers for sure.

Lucasfilm makes the creative choices, not Disney.

I will not tolerate people complaining about Muppets in Jabba’s Palace. Muppets are awesome.

End of line.

Agreed Muppets beat cgi hands down

CGI is a tool, and like any other tool, it can be use poorly. But you should never blame the tool for the shortcomings of the craftsman.

The canon firmly establishes that ROTJ takes place one year after the events of TESB.

How?

Every bit of official information around says that in the Star Wars universe, TESB takes place 3 ABY (3 years after the Battle of Yavin), and ROTJ takes place 4 ABY.

I only have one suggestion for this, but I think it improves the film greatly:
Start the film with Luke on Dagobah
It just makes so much more sense

Do you have friends?
How long would you let them hangin on a wall? Weeks? Month? If they survive that long at all.

Luke’s waiting to hear from Lando before he does anything. This is set up at the end of ESB.
In the meantime, nothing’s stopping him from going back to Yoda and it makes more sense that he would.

Why change it?

When Luke and Vader are talking on the dock for the AT-AT, consider having a faint sound in the background of the AT-AT walking away. It’s a great personal conversation between the two and the way the troops walked away it feels like they are just hanging out in the open AT-AT. You’d have to remove the head of the walker in the very last shot of the scene.
Also, I know some think Revisited shouldn’t change to match the prequels, but when Vader says “Obi-Wan once thought as you do”, is a glaring discrepancy. Obi-wan never once gave Anakin a chance to turn from the dark side. It would be so much better if he said, “Your mother once thought as you do,” because Padme really did ask Anakin to leave with her.

I have to say that the concept of a second DS is too derivative for a ROTJ:R.

You can’t just get rid of the Death Star II and make it completely seamless, because it’s interwoven into the plot, dialogue, and action scenes. It’s something you can only change at a script level.

I’m almost certain adywan previously said that he would not be accepting suggestions for this update of ANH:R.

Absolutely. So far it’s going to be the same edits, except for the original DS plans and maybe no prequel music.

But what about the suggestion we’ve all had about having the small display start with the original DS plans and then having it change to the ANH:R plans through some static? We all agreed that that was a good compromise.

I haven’t been following closely enough to have seen everyone suggesting this but what would be the point? I get that it is a compromise for various forum members, but does it make any sense in the film, as opposed to just showing whichever version Adywan prefers?

It kind of does make sense, because why would the rebels be looking at inaccurate plans where the dish is in the center and not on the northern hemisphere? Just have the original design be shown briefly on the screen when R2 is plugged in, just to connect it with Rogue One, and then have the screen dial a second later to the more accurate design from ANH:R.

Well, I have to admit that it’s a step up over the original. Still room for improvement though.

Not sure if that makes Editroid feel any better.

The only thing I would do is tone the shine down a little bit.
