Damn this site.  With regards to the above, where I tried (and failed) to quote Imrahill and reply in the same post, then if by "most people" you mean this forum then I'm sure you're right.  If you mean by "most people" a certain age group then there's a chance you might be right.  If you mean by "most people" people in general then I would say you're wrong.

The weak PT is already connected to the ST via the connecting tissue of the beloved OT.

I really do think avoiding it will make it more conspicuous.

It would be better to try and re-jig your memory of the past for the better while running the new present.

I think you're wrong, and that most people will breathe a huge sigh of relief at leaving the prequels behind.

I go with Bingowings on this.  There are some fans who want to rewrite reality in the way that Lucas is accused of doing - ergo, "when people think of Star Wars they think of the OT".  Maybe some people, but by no means all.

And in the way that certain plot points of the PT enriched the OT for some, I think that Bingowings's ideas for how Padme could feature in the story of the new trilogy would certainly enrich plot points of the PT (a trilogy where Padme's character was seriously un-developed).

The Sequel Trilogy should be made as animated films...
Time

I'm not so in love with Peter Jackson's Lord of The Rings films. They all look exactly the same. Gets boring after a while - and they do last a while.

Before the announcement of a new trilogy I thought that they should definitely entertain the idea of doing Star Wars feature films as animation rather than live action. The Clone Wars has proved massively popular so why not?

Star Wars - Episode VII - FACTS IN TOP POST

I have no issue with the PT whatsoever.  However, I don't really think there's any need for the PT to be referenced in the new films.  That said, we all know (he said, presumptively) that no matter what's in the new trilogy there will be some who still won't be happy.  They could reincarnate Irvin bleedin' Kershner and get him to direct the new trilogy, remake RoTJ and the Prequels and we'd still hear a few empty cans rattling loudly.

As for the awful dialogue in Attack of The Clones, I don't know who wrote it - Lucas or Hales - but it is pretty sad that people always assume that anything bad in the films is automatically Lucas's fault, even when he's had a co-writer.

It's probably because as employer of the co-writer, even if the rubbish lines were Hales, Lucas still kept them. He also directed the scenes where they were said and oversaw the editing and had final say to the theatrical cut and home cinema cuts of the film.

So it is automatically his fault.

For some reason this forum (or maybe it's my laptop) goes a bit nuts when I try and quote other posts within a reply.

Why no Sith Ladies? Excellent point, I think. Remember Shira Brie from the comics who then became the Lady Lumiya? Excellent character and I believe she is now in the EU books. The supremely talented ian McCaig came up with the design for the Sith Witch for The Phantom Menace but Lucas felt (probably quite rightly) that it was too scary. McCaig pushed again in Attack of The Clones for a female villain and apparently it was on the cards until lucas went for the Count Dooku character, the design eventually being taken up for the Clone Wars cartoon.

So, this is their chance now, with these three films, to introduce a female villain. I, for one, hope they do it.
