House of Frankenstein (1997)
Had this been shorter, I could've forgiven the overwhelming use of cliches and the lack of internal consistency. However, its a two-part miniseries, which makes it a lot longer than it should have been, which makes it a tedious chore to slough through.
I do have two nice things to say about it, though; first was the scene where the protagonist's sister uses her mother's blessed ashes to defeat a vampire, the second was the scene where the cops raided the vampire nightclub - the former due to its originality, the latter because the Smashing Pumpkins song "Bullet with Butterfly Wings" was playing through it.

Well, consider the source material.
Yeah, I know - I have read the original script, after all. Still, I expected a little sanding down of the story's rough edges, so to speak, during the process of adapting it for the comic.

Never gonna happen - I haven't had a wet dream in eight years, and that's unlikely to change anytime soon.

Yes, it is my fault, which is why it's time to dial up my discrimination factor a thousandfold. That still doesn't excuse Hollywood's continuing fuck-ups, though.

Mama (2013)
You know what - I'm going to make a vow, right here and now. Beyond the very small number of movies I've already seen and liked, I am never - and I mean never, ever, ever, EVER - going to watch another Hollywood movie made in this godforsaken shitpit of a century.
I am sick of colourless, lameass characters; I am sick of generic by-the-numbers plots; and I am DEAD, BURIED, and PUTRIFIED from characters made out of RETARDED, BULL-FUCKING-SHIT, DISCHARGED-FROM-THE-SLIT-OF-A-BLOATED-WHORE'S-CORPSE CG-GOD RAPING-I when they could have been portrayed by LIVING, BREATHING, FLESH-AND-BLOOD HUMAN ACTORS!!!!!!!!!
Die, Hollywood, DIE! DIE, you BRAINDEAD, TALENTLESS, VISIONLESS, SOUL-STRANGLING, ART-MURDERING, MONEY-WASTING, WORLD-POISONING, INCESTUOUS, FESTERING, DEMONIC TUMOUR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Trailer for the forthcoming "The Star Wars" comic based on Lucas' original concepts. That Luke Skywalker guy looks awfully familiar!
Not fond of the "Lucas as Luke" design, but I'm loving the all-red lightsabers.
I don't know why not. In the story he plays the Obi-Wan role.
Lets just say that I'm long past the point of seeing Lucas as the heroic type.

I had the weirdest dream this morning. Very, very weird.
I dreamed I went to some pristine white auditorium/kitchen to get some tutoring in math from Gordon Ramsay, who then happily had a fancy cappuccino with a large, layered cake floating in the middle of it made up for me. When I informed him I hadn't actually paid for the course and couldn't due to other commitments, he got angry and had other people eat/drink my cappuccino cake until only an inverted pyramid covered in silver foil was left sitting in the bowl.
Then some weird semi-sexual crap happened involving some 50's-type song playing in the air, Laura Dern trying to land some role in a play while wearing surgical gloves, and me sneaking past glass rooms full of exercise equipment in a slo-mo search for an exit while an unseen married couple conversed.
From there, I left the auditorium/kitchen, and then was chased by a pack of police dogs for crossing some layers of dried mud rings inexplicably called an aqueduct, escaping only when they were distracted by other police dogs chasing an alternate version of me. I then ran up a steep ramp/flight of stairs, found an exercise machine sitting there at the top, and asked myself "Who needs to use a machine like this after climbing this monster?"
And then I woke up.

Rumors suggest the director is the Rupert Wyatt who directed rise of the planet of the apes. And we will have a 2016 release date.
I hope this time its not a space revenge movie. A ripoff of star wars or the wrath of khan. I don't want any more nods to nostalgia or retreads of classic episodes or movies. Something new and fresh would be nice. But not likely.
It could be all that and more, and I still won't bother to watch it. Bizarro Trek is a pool that has been pissed in to the point where the water's become opaque with yellow, and all the chlorine in the world isn't going to get it clean enough to convince me to dip even a single toe in.
I'm just going to wait until Trek gets another reboot, whenever that'll be. Hopefully by then, we'll get something that isn't mindless bullshit.

I personally just use MS Paint. It doesn't take much to make a picture like this, after all - just cut an image in half, copy and flip one of the halves, then line them up 'til they form a mirrored image.

To be fair, Stargate has stayed in the public eye pretty well... but a lot of that has to do with the 10+ years of TV shows it spawned. The movie itself is kind of a footnote to the series at this point, and it's not something you're likely to hear a random person gushing about.
It's news like this that makes it hard for me to keep my disenchantment with that cheap, derivative Star Trek knockoff from descending into outright hatred.
I only hope that when the Stargate franchise gets its inevitable reboot, the people they put in charge of it takes it back to its roots and jettisons all that bullshit about English speaking aliens and ascended superhumans.

Comparing Stargate to Bizarro Trek, are we? Well, I know how to cope with disingenous statements like that ...
