Well, that was quite something. I only wish the character of Margaret Yang was more developed. Aside from that it was spectacular.
The first and only time I watched this movie was back in 2004, when I was still in high school. I didn’t appreciate it then; I wonder if I’d be able to now.

I really wish I could see the original silent version of this film. Unfortunately for me, aside from fan-edited versions which are even more intolerable, the only copy of I could find to watch on-line is the version with Ed McMahon’s expositionary narration, and watching that cut is like trying to appreciate a beautiful surrealist/expressionist painting that some schmuck scrawled needless explanatory notes all over in permanent marker.

His movies don’t have screenplays. They have a few random comic book panels cut out and thrown on the floor without the context of any story. Then he masturbates to them and then cuts his hand with a knife to bleed on them and add sex and gore to this “storyboard”.
I remember reading an article in Starlog where Synder was quoted as saying that he literally wanted to use the 300 graphic novel as a script when shooting his film.
