I never understood why people thought something like a Thrawn Trilogy adaptation was a possibility for the ST. The mere fact that the story would be spoiled already was reason enough for it to stay off the table as an option.
The possibility of a live-action Thrawn Trilogy adaptation went out the window after the '90s, anyway.
By 1997, Carrie Fisher was already visibly aging, but she was still young enough to play a pregnant woman and do all the action that the story would’ve required of her. By 2014, though? No. It would’ve been impossible. They would’ve had to cast a younger actress to play Leia, and who would’ve wanted that?
In my experience, once you start cleaning up after the cat, you’re cleaning up after the cat for life.
I’ll give the '03 series a point for briefly showing a single Jedi with a red lightsaber. Aside from that, I prefer the '08 series.
I watched the first season of Dexter.
It’s a great show, but between it and Hannibal, I’m starting to get really unsettling dreams. I think I’m going to be giving these types of shows a break for a while to watch more comedy.

STILL MORE SCARY STORIES FOR STORMY NIGHTS – JIM CHARBONNEAU
I read this book back in the sixth grade, but remembered very little about it other than one story where a kid gets eaten by a sapient cloud monster, so I decided to revisit it.
Needless to say, the book didn’t age well. There were only two types of stories in this book: really stupid R. L. Stine-level stories and alright but unoriginal and none-too-interesting stories. The interior artwork, too, was bland; they should’ve commissioned the guy who did the cover art to do the interiors instead of the person they ended up going with.

CORALINE – NEIL GAIMAN
I watched the film adaptation a number of months ago, so I decided to read the novella itself. This is certainly one of those uncommon cases where the movie is better than the book it’s based on.
There’s nothing bad about the book, but there’s not a whole lot of meat to it, either. I may as well have read the transcript to a video game. Coraline herself is a flat character who has no serious inner doubts or struggles and doesn’t evolve over the course of the story; from start to finish she just goes through the motions, remaining the same character at the end of the book that she was at the beginning.

PROS: The main characters are well-rounded and sympathetic; the story is solid; the book altogether is a quick and easy read.
CONS: The dialogue is stilted; the ending was too abrupt.

Long story very, very short;
The Force Awakens is a sort of meta-commentary on the franchise as a whole. Rey is all the young, new fans who were introduced to SW by TFA, Maz Kanata is a levelheaded fan whose been around a while, Kylo is a crazy fanboy, Han is George Lucas, Luke is Star Wars itself.
Haha Kylo Ren is a pissy TFN type. Or wait, if Han is Lucas, then Kylo Ren is… us?
Pfft. You’d never catch me using a crossguard lightsaber. It’s two standard lightsabers* for me all the way.
*One with a crimson blade, the other a teal blade.
I’m gonna go out on a limb and say you aren’t us, at least in many of your complaints about things.
