a good-evil dichotomy is what Star wars is built on.
That has proved its undoing.

And Duracell’s is quite the toxic love 😉
I certainly don’t hate Daisy Ridley. . . .
I’m a miserable asshole who can’t find enjoyment in anything Star Wars anymore. Even I think you’re overstepping.
This entire year has been a miserable, depressing experience for me.
I would’ve liked Luke & Leia as lovers, but it would’ve only worked if Han had died in the OT, or they were in a polyamorous arrangement. Leia breaking up with Han and shacking up with Luke offscreen between trilogies would’ve been in bad taste.
Casablanca is dated. Citizen Kane is dated. Everything 10+ years old is dated. Dated =/= bad.
The lore’s been broken since 1999. 1997, if we consider the SE “canon” at that point.
Ooh, you’ll love my toxic loooove.
I’m legitimately aroused by this photo. Daisy looks like she’d be a real wild demon in the sack.
Not necessarily. She might be a bicycle.
I understand your POV just fine, but you’re forgetting the end of the movie. Or, you would be if you had gotten to that part.
Luke astro-projects himself to Salt Lake Planet, gets shot at by gorilla walkers, has a non-lightsaber duel with Darth Millennial, then dies of a broken heart, inspiring broom boys throughout the galaxy to get creative with their sweeping.
I can read synopses with the best of them.
Clearly the when you only read the synopses you miss the nuances.
I’m fundamentally at odds with the entire ethos of TLJ. I don’t like it on paper, and I wouldn’t like it in execution.
That’s your prerogative. But you clearly seem unable to fathom the POV of the film.
Good.
What is the ethos of TLJ to you, just curious?
Postmodern deconstruction, and the cynicism inherent in it.

The time, but not the patience. That’s why I’ll never be a Jedi — that, and because they don’t allow red lightsabers. If I can’t have a lightsaber sporting my favourite colour, what’s the point?
Believe it or not, just because you don’t have a wife and child doesn’t make you a failure.
My stance is far more nuanced than that. But nevermind — your opinion is the only correct one, anyway.
I mean, the whole point of what I’m saying is there is nuance to what constitutes failure vs. a successful life.
I believe failing to restore one’s religion, losing/abandoning one’s family, and running off to die alone on a deserted planet constitutes an epic failure.
But I’m unable to make a cogent argument, and you wouldn’t be able to fathom my POV even if I could, so whatever.

Deleted.
Doubtless I’m one of those “toxic and negative people looking to spread thier agandas of hate everywhere”.
Maybe I should just go for the gusto and create a thread listing each and every aspect of Star Wars I utterly despise to the max. Point 1: Imperial & Rebel blaster bolts both being red. Fucking lazy animators, were Fucking lazy.

Feh. Give me the Legends Luke who successfully rebuilds the Jedi Order and has a wife & child any century.
And best of all, Luke wouldn’t have become an abject failure with no legacy.
Was gonna say you must have watched a different film than I did but then I remember you didn’t watch the film at all.
Not true. I watched the first 40 minutes.
Star Wars fans have no taste. That should be evident by the fact people STILL defend The Last Jedi.
because it fucking rules yo
You’re both wrong. 😛
Honestly, most of Star Wars can die in a fire for all I care — ROTJ included. But while I’ll continue to belittle ROTJ, the PT, and every entry in the ST, I’m gonna avoid belittling their fans as best I can. Y’all approach Star Wars differently than I, and glean enjoyment from it differently, and I can live with that.
