Comics. (Not the comedians)
Time

The first superheroes I gained an interest in were Batman, Superman, and Spider-Man, mostly due to the movies/TV shows which were extant at the time. When I wanted to take the next step and delve into their comics, this is what I had to contend with:

While I like Ben Reilly in spite of the Clone Saga – and I’ve since come to terms with long-haired Supes – the '90s really were a shitty time to be a kid who just wanted to read some fun, colourful stories of the heroes they saw on TV.

Hahahaha. Trump was right, he could shoot someone in cold blood and it wouldn’t matter. Trump supporters, including those in this thread, would just say there’s no proof and that the media is making it all up.

What Trump supporters in this thread? Don’t you remember that Jetrell Fo said he wasn’t a Trump supporter?

*ahem*

What was your impression of the prequels before they announced the PT?
Time

Literally only months passed between the time I watched the entire OT and the release of TPM, so I didn’t have a whole lot of time to build a cohesive headcanon of the PT timeline before it was disrupted. Regardless, I had come up with some hard concepts:

  • Anakin was older than nine years old when Ben discovered him
  • Anakin had black hair
  • Anakin’s wife (who wasn’t a queen or a senator) had red hair
  • Luke & Leia were born before Anakin turned to the dark side and raised by their biological parents on Tatooine for the first years of their life
  • The clones in the eponymous Clone Wars were proto-stormtroopers who fought against the Jedi and the Republic
  • The Mandalorians were a secondary enemy force who participated in the Clone Wars and were wiped out by the Jedi
  • The Empire already existed with Palpatine as its emperor before Anakin’s turn to the dark side
  • Anakin deliberately killed his own wife
  • The Great Jedi Purge spanned a number of years before Anakin fought Ben, fell into a volcano, and became Darth Vader
  • Hand-held blaster technology wasn’t invented until the rise of the Empire

Speaking of X-Men TAS, I found an old Disney store gift card I still haven’t spent and I am considering getting an X-Men TAS DVD from their site with it. However, having just watched an episode on an old tape, the animation wasn’t as good as I remembered. I didn’t watch much of X-Men when I was younger, so maybe I’ve just been too spoiled by the DC shows of around the same time and the decade or so following.

The animation is no doubt pretty average stuff compared to other shows airing at the time, the intro is actually animated to a higher standered than the show itself (And then there’s the Japanese intro which is done to an even higher standered). The producers behind the show simply never had the money to properly finance it, whereas WB’s animated series (Batman and Superman) were properly financed and were praised for their animation.

And to add insult to injury, goddamn Canuckistanis voiced the characters.

Dammit. Now I’ve kindled the rage of the ghost of Don Francks.
